Jesus said, "If the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed" John 8:36.

The words "Law" and "Religion" are closely related. When one is doing their religion, they are doing the law. When one is doing the law, they are doing their religion.

Jesus said, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" John 8:32.

Free from what? Free from sin. Before one can be free from sin, they have to be free from the law. The law is what promotes sin. Many believe that the law keeps us from sin, that is the devils lie, Paul said, "But sin taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence (Lust) For without the law sin was dead" Romans 7:8.

There is something in our human nature when told not to do something, we want to do it. Adam and Eve are a good example. God said to Adam and Eve, "Don't eat of the tree in the midst of the Garden" Genesis 3:3. No one cared about the tree in the midst of the Garden until God said, "Don't eat of it or touch it". Eve could not wait to go check out the tree in the midst of the garden. Eve said, "It is a tree good for food and pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise" Genesis 3:6.

Where there is no law, there is no sin, Romans 4:15. Where there is law, there is sin.

Why did Jesus teach the law if the law causes us to sin? One of the purposes of the law is to reveal sin. Paul said, "For I was without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died" Romans 7:9.

Jesus makes us free from sin by making us free from the law. This is why the scripture says, "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes" Romans 10:4. Law and religion promotes sin. If you want to be free from sin stop trying to keep the commandments. If you want to be free from sin stop trying to be religious. This is why Paul said, "The just shall live by faith" Romans 1:17.

The Just live by faith in Christ and his Gospel. In the Gospel, "We are complete in him" (Jesus) Colossians 2:10. This means that that law has been abolished, Ephesians 2:15 and all sin has been atoned for, 1 John 2:2. Those that believe the Gospel have ceased from their own works (religion) and have entered into his rest, Hebrews 4:10.

Yes, it's the do-it-ourselves-on-our-own power/willpower/virtue/perfectionism/and so on that doesn't work. We aren't the Way....

We must bear fruit (or else burn in the fire), but we only bear fruit by remaining on the Vine -- abiding in Christ (staying focused on Him, looking to Him, keeping His Words in our hearts, thinking of Him):

It's Life or Death for us:

1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes a so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

9“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
John 15 NIV

23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me."
John 14 NIV

I run into so many people who are sin conscious …which means, failing short of self-imposed works.

I couldn’t tell you the last time I thought about sin, and it’s not that I am perfect, but I walk with Son consciousness rather than sin conscious

Except Jesus said, ' If you Love me, you will keep my commands.'

The law identifies sin, and it teaches us about the behaviour that God expects from his people.
Namely that they will love him and other people.

If we do not have the ten commandments, how are you going to teach your children or children in the church you attend, what Godly behaviour is?

Jesus said, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" John 8:32.
Jesus said, "If the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed" John 8:36.

Jeremiah 7:
23
But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’
24 Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.

Genesis 26:5 Because Abraham obeyed my voice, kept my charge, my commandments,
my statutes, and my laws.

John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice,
and I know them, and they follow Me.

Romans 10:
8 But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing
by the word of God.

When we receive the engrafted word, we are able
to isolate the Voice of the Spirit in our heart,
be renewed in the spirit of our mind, and follow
the convictions of the Holy Spirit upon our
conscience, maintained without offense for
this purpose. To Know Him.

James 1:21
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness
and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word,
which is able to save your souls.

Ephesians 4:
23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

John 16:
7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Acts 24:16 This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.

2 Corinthians
1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly toward you.
4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

Freedom of religion requires liberty of conscience.
This is the perfect law of liberty.

1 Corinthians
6:12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
10:23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Galatians 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

1 Peter 2:
15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
16 As free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bond servants of God.

James 2:12 So speak and so do, as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.

If they do not know what sin is, other than Dads list of dos and don'ts, how will they know they need a saviour?

What about repentance, contrition, and confession?-CryptoLutheran

Salvation is permanent…according to the Word... we cannot lose that.

Fellowship is conditional upon our walks. 1Jo 1:6-10 And when I blow it (which I will) I just thank God for forgiveness and keep moving on…. Because Jesus Christ is my/our advocate and the complete payment for my sins 1Jo 2:1&2…..so no contrition necessary.

I just don’t ever succumb to the condemnation of sin…..that would be disobedient to the Word of God.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation (down judgment) to them which are in Christ Jesus.

Jesus said, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" John 8:32.

In Psalms 119:142, God's law is truth, and in John 8:31-36, it is sin in transgression of God's law that puts us in bondage while it is the truth that sets us free, but sadly your actions are in accordance with the goal of bringing into bring everyone into bondage by living in transgression of God's law instead of setting people free by teaching them to repent and obey God's law in accordance with the Gospel.

In Romans 7:7, it says that the Law of God is not sinful and that he would not have known what sin is if it were not for the Law of God, however, if it promoted sin, then it would be sinful, so you are interpreting Paul as contradicting himself. In Romans 7:21-25, Paul said that he delighted in obeying the Law of God, but contrasted that with the law of sin that working within his members to caused him not to do the good of obeying it that he wanted to do, so it is the law of sin that promotes sin, not the Law of God. There is nothing about the command against coveting that promotes coveting, but just the opposite, that command leads us to repent and causes coveting to decrease. The problem is that there is a law of sin working within us that takes the occasion by the Law of God to bring about all kinds of covetousness. So we need to be set free from the law of sin in order to be free to obey the Law of God, but you want to be set free from the law of God in order to embrace the law of sin.

There is something in our human nature when told not to do something, we want to do it. Adam and Eve are a good example.

Yes, that is what Paul referred to as the law of sin and that is what we need to be free from, not the good of obeying the Law of God.

Where there is no law, there is no sin, Romans 4:15. Where there is law, there is sin.

God's law is eternal (Psalms 119:160), so it is not the case that there is no law.

Why did Jesus teach the law if the law causes us to sin? One of the purposes of the law is to reveal sin. Paul said, "For I was without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died" Romans 7:9.

The Law of God reveals what sin is, while the law of sin promotes sin, and Jesus only taught obedience to the Law of God, not the law of sin.

Jesus makes us free from sin by making us free from the law. This is why the scripture says, "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes" Romans 10:4. Law and religion promotes sin.

There is nothing in either the surrounding or broader context of Romans 10:4 that has anything to do with freeing us from the Law of God, but just the opposite. In Romans 10:5-10, our faith references Deuteronomy 30:11-16 in regard to saying that the Law of God is not too difficult to obey, that the one who obeys it will attain life by it, in regard to what we are agreeing to obey when we confess that Jesus is Lord, and in regard to the way to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, which all would have been completely pointless to say if he were speaking about the law having ended.

If you want to be free from sin stop trying to keep the commandments. If you want to be free from sin stop trying to be religious.

Sin is the transgression of the Law of God (1 John 3:4), so the way to become in bondage to sin is to stop keeping the commandments. Jesus spent his ministry setting a perfect example of how to practice the religion of Judaism by living in sinless obedience to the Torah, so you can choose to either follow him or not, but you can't follow him by refusing to follow his example.

This is why Paul said, "The just shall live by faith" Romans 1:17.

Paul was quoting Habakkuk 2:4, so he was not speak about a different manner of living than what was commanded in the OT.

In Matthew 23:23, Christ said that faith is one of the weightier matters of the law, so obedience to it is the way that the just live by faith. In Matthew 4:17-23, Jesus began his ministry with the Gospel message to repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand, and God's law is how his audience knew what sin is, so you are rejecting faith in Christ and his Gospel. In 1 John 2:6, those who are in Christ are obligated to walk in the same way he walked, so the fact that you are speaking against walking in the same way he walked means that you should not consider Colossians 2:10 to be speaking about you. Ephesians 2:15 is not speaking about God's law. In Hebrews 4:11, we should strive to enter into God's rest so that no one may fall away by the same sort of disobedience, which is the disobedience that you are promoting, so you also should not consider Hebrews 4:10 to be speaking about you, especially because it says that we should follow God's example, which you are rejecting.

It appears to me that you are rejecting salvation by grace through faith apart from the works of the law. Paul plainly says, "For you are not under the law, but under grace" Romans 6:14. You don't want to be under grace, you want to be under the law. Even when there are several warnings about being under the law, Paul said, "For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse" Galatians 3:10. I don't know about you, but that scripture scares the hell out of me. To be under the curse is to be condemned to hell. And then in Romans 4:15 Paul says, "Because the law works wrath: for where there is no law, there is no transgression". I am assuming that the wrath is God's wrath. So here is the problem. Do you want the curse, or do you want the wrath? Maybe you will get both.

The Law was given because man sinned. Otherwise there would be no need for it, even as a teacher. And the command given to Adam and Eve was, prior to man’s first sin, likewise an instruction regarding the right thing to do, and not the very reason for and vehicle to disobeying and doing the wrong thing.

At the end of the day God knows that only love will motivate authentic obedience and right behavior in man, and He’s been about the business of cultivating that love in man since He first created him.

The Holy Spirit is in the world calling all to come to Christ. Maybe you should tell them why they need a savior.

As I said, why should your children believe they need one, if all they are taught is Dads list of do's and don'ts. The ten commandments makes it clear that everyone is in need of a saviour.

Many people believe the earth is flat, but that does not make it so.

As you quoted in post 1, the lawmakes sin known, so why try to believe that without the law people will know they are sinners.

We are all born with a conscience. That small voice in our head that says, "Don't do that".
