Does anyone really want to see Trump in office 2024-2028.
He is 76 now. He'll be 78 in 24. Can you imagine him at 82?

Does anyone really want this ongoing chaos, the distracting drama, the overall dysfunctional state of affairs?

As Bad as Biden is, at least he is predictable and rational. But who really want him to run again as well?

The U.S. needs new leadership. Leadership that is less polarized.

I agreez I don't want that at all. And that's another reason why I'm not happy about all of this on Trump. The whole "let's get Trump" movement from the Democrats is creating a backlash that will affect the elections. If all of this leads to no charges or even worse charges with no conviction Trump will have been made a martyr.

I truly wonder anymore if that IS the Democratic plan. Make Trump the martyr so he runs and then they have someone to run against they might be able to beat. The plan would be just look at all the chaos around him and "do you really want four more years of this?" Combine that with his age and you may have a recipe for victory.

Here's my conspiracy theory on the whole situation. The Democrats aren't dumb; they knew the consequences of raiding Trump's house. They knew millions of Americans would contribute to his campaign fun so his head would get inflated again. They want him to run for president because the Democrats can beat him - with Barack Obama.

Although Obama can't run again, but I get the point.

I was always under the impression the president could not serve more than two consecutive terms in office but if a different president comes after the consecutive terms then the previous president could run and serve another term after the one currently in office. I was going to sight Grover Cleveland. I thought he had been in office for three terms: 2 consecutive terms then Benjamin Harrison then another term for Cleveland. I see he only did one term then Harrison then another Cleveland term (or was that where he may have started a third term?). Sorry, I need to go back and brush up on my American politics.

As for Jimmy Carter, I actually liked his peaceful way of governing, unfortunately, he got stepped on in the world arena, I think. Anyway, thanks for the correction, Pommer.

As a further correction, it would not matter if Cleveland had served three terms as it was Constitutional when Cleveland was President. The 22nd Amendment, limiting a President to two terms, was not passed until 1951 -- and it was largely in direct response to Franklin Roosevelt being elected to four terms as President.

Nothing in the Constitution barred a President from seeking a third (or more) terms until the passage of the 22nd Amendment in 1951. This was after FDR who, in the words of fictional character Archie Bunker, “hang onto the job like a pope!”
Ten years is the total maximum a person can serve.

So I have absolutely no reason to credit your assertion. You made the claim, I asked you for a cite and you have flatly refused. As far as I am aware there is no "Let's get Trump" movement from the Democrats.

The Russia collusion investigation was started by FBI and continued by the Republican Acting Attorney General. It was never focused on Donald Trump.
In fact Comey told D Trump that he was not being investigated, and Mueller stated that he would not charge a sitting president and was only investigating to see if others had committed crimes.

The Ukraine scheme to get the President of Ukraine to publicly declare an investigation into Joe Biden was whistleblown and given witness testimony by Republican officials, or career diplomats. Bill Barr refused to have the DOJ look into this so the Democrats in the house did the investigation, but the testimonies were mostly Republicans and this happened because Republicans were concerned about Trump and Guliani's behaviour.

Trump's involvement in the insurrection initially sparked condemnation from many Republicans, but most eventually wimped out and left this mess to the Democrat house and two Republicans to sort out.
Although officiated by a mostly Democrat group + two Republicans, This has been mostly Republicans testifying about the events, decisions and inactions of that day and of the illegal alternate electors scheme.

The recent raid of Maralago is because the FBI know that there were classified documents being held at Maralago and were obligated to get them back to the national archives. Nothing to do with the Democrats at all.

None of these items are trivial, they all were very worthy of a deep and focused investigation.
