Yes giddy. The very fact that we have people on speculating on what the documents are and that he's selling nuclear secrets to our adversaries is evidence they are just hoping beyond hope that what he was doing was really really bad.
Of course, some are. That's politics. Were the Republicans no less giddy about Hillary's home email server? When there's a hint of blood, the sharks circle.
Trump did himself no favors while in office and since. He was one of the most vocal, crude, rude, and lacked all dignity. His attacks were vicious. He called people names and made more nasty comments than any president in my lifetime. Some people loved that. They were happy to see the gloves come off and someone just speak his mind. On the other hand, there is a certain expectation that the President of the United States will be dignified and take care of his/her tongue given they are representing our country to the world. Trump slung mud with the best of them.
So, should it be any surprise the media is circling like sharks around blood? That doesn't prove, one way or the other, if he is guilty of violating any laws. We will find out in time. I would not say all are giddy. I have read some very balanced, fact-based reporting on this. Even without their biases, the media is always looking for a sensational story to grab attention. When you become the POTUS, you know you are swimming with the sharks. Everything you say, do, or write is going to be put under a microscope along with your entire life. For Trump, or any politician, to say "they're out to get me" is foolish. Of course they are! Duh. That doesn't mean, however, that *everyone* is out to get you or that you've done nothing wrong. Trump intentionally escalates some of these situations to get publicity and try and score political points among his followers. Also politics as usual. Trump went out of his way to make enemies and belittle a lot of people. Now he's on the receiving end. What goes around, comes around.
Instead of speculating about motives and is this political, etc, let's just wait and see what is eventually released and what charges, if any, are brought. Right now it's just a media circus with very little factual information being released. If he did take and keep classified documents, then he broke the law. If you know your opponents are looking for any excuse to jump all over you, why give them material? He should have had people go through every scrap of paper he was thinking of taking home to make sure he did not inadvertently take home something he shouldn't have. Throughout his presidency, he was cavaliere about ignoring the document retention laws. He somehow felt he was above the law and could decide for himself. Well, it doesn't work that way and now he got caught. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy
