The move has drawn criticism from pro-life groups, including Michigan Right to Life.

Soon after a state appellate court lifted an injunction Monday against Michigan’s law banning most abortions, another Michigan judge granted Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s request for a restraining order against the enforcement of the law.

The law, whose current form dates back to 1931, criminalizes abortion except when necessary to save the life of the mother. The law generally has not been enforced since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.

On Monday, a Michigan Court of Appeals ruling, overturning a controversial preliminary injunction issued by a state claims-court judge in May, said that county prosecutors have the authority to defend and enforce the state’s abortion law.

But later that same day, Michigan circuit Judge James Cunningham granted a new injunction against the law, saying there was a “threat of immediate and irreparable injury to the people of the state of Michigan.”

The governor is running against a republican who is very pro-life. The attack ads are already out making the opponent look like some kind of monster for not endorsing abortion.

Yeah, I see that ad on YouTube all the time. Unfortunately I’ve been leaning to exceptions for rape, incest, & mother’s health lately. I think a lot of everyday pro-life people are for that too.

So my question would be: when Dixon says “no exceptions”, is she talking about her personal beliefs? Or what she’d like to sign into law? The clip just has her saying “no exceptions”. Lasts 2 seconds. Like it's editing something out (hiding something). I’d like to see the full answer.

& just b/c she’d personally like to sign that into law, does it mean the State House & Senate would get that kind of bill to her desk? I can’t see Pro-life reps (especially in swing districts) voting to get a bill that far.

A lot of politicians run on 'fringe' beliefs; they are then elected in but their 'fringe' belief never passes b/c there's checks & balances.

Pro-life politicians running for office have to be extremely clear on their stance, or we’ll see a repeat of the recent Kansas vote everywhere.

I live in MI & this is definitely the main attack they're using on her.

They are definitely editing the ads to make the republican candidate look like she's anti-abortion even in the case of the life of the mother being at risk. I don't think that's her stance. And they play the ad constantly on every channel and even on my apps.
