Personally, I'm quite tired of the way many clergy represent my faith. They should be ashamed and those that follow them should be ashamed. I would not want to be standing in their shoes on judgment day.

Same thing could be said of many denominations. As a whole, Biblical christianity is poorly represented by most churches/denominations. Especially in the most important area, that of receiving God's free gift of Eternal Life.

I have had no first hand experience with that particular conversation, but have observed from life experience that “fanatic fringes” cross most boundaries and seem to exclude no “group”.

Therefore, “probably” was an appropriate qualifier for the statement. (Although I have no idea why you would conclude that I thought Christians were “victims” just because LGBQT can be idiots, too.)

After all, if one wants to talk about illogical beliefs … you claim to be a Deist. (So there is a god, but he/she/it can’t do anything?)

At least advocating the execution of people that you radically disagree with is “internally logical” (if narrow minded and anti-social).

As having some gay friends. The closest conversation I've had around that is when they (and frankly, MANY others) have wanted to execute pedophile, abusive priests. People who ACTUALLY AND PHYSICALLY harmed children. And not just said "Hey man. It's okay to have two dads. You're good and we can hang out and play ping pong and drink tang".

I ran into one the other day, actually. I got into a (very civil) discussion on FB about something related to theology and this other guy came out and said that he basically wanted to set up an OT theocracy where people got stoned for all kinds of things. Based on the tenor of his comments, I got the sense that he was entirely sincere, but under no illusions that it would ever happen.

On the purely secular side of things it is not even close to qualifying as treason.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

This narrow definition was because of abuses by The Crown, trying to make any disagreement into treason.
