Revelation 3:
17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—
and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—
18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich;
and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness
may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
In their prosperity, this assembly of the saints were unable to know the shortcomings
of their inner man. They did not know “what spirit they were of “.
“I counsel you to buy gold from me, refined in the fire, so that you may be rich.”
1 Peter 1:
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be,
you have been grieved by various trials,
7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than
gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise,
honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
“and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your
nakedness may not be revealed.”
Revelation 19:
7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb
has come, and His wife has made herself ready.
8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright,
for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
“and anoint your eyes with eyesalve, that you may see.”
Matthew 6:
19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust
destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust
destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your
whole body will be full of light.
23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore
the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other,
or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.
Belief becomes active faith when we are rooted and grounded together in Christ’s love.
Ephesians 3:
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be
strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being
rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and
length and depth and height—
19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be
filled with all the fullness of God.
The inner man prospers in the fellowship of the saints with the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 4:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that
which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure
of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
“Those I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.”
John 9:
39 And Jesus said, For judgment I have come into this world, that those who
do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.
40 Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words,
and said to Him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now
you say, We see. Therefore your sin remains.
The Pharisees were unrepentant. We must take heed to avoid this spiritual blindness.
Luke 21:
34 But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing,
drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day comes on you unexpectedly.
35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape
all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.
The spirit of truth in our hearts leads us to comprehend all truth
Psalms 51:
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part
You will make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and
I shall be whiter than snow.
