According to this article, biased as it is, far more non-citizens receiving public assistance (defined as Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) food program, free or subsidized school lunch and breakfast, food stamps (officially called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP), Medicaid, public housing, and rent subsidies) have at least one household member working as opposed to citizen receivers.
It seems all anyone paid attention to was the link and not the other issues. I don't doubt that many people who come here illegally are very hard workers and just want to better themselves.

What's illegal--specifically? Being in the country illegally? That's a misdemeanor. Big deal. Applying for amnesty while in the country illegally? That's a right guaranteed by law and international treaty.

Depends on the city. There were thriving communities of Mexicans, cities even, in the American Southwest when the wrteched Pilgrims were starving at Plymouth Rock. There still are.

And if it's such a big deal, why aren't we doing something about the millions of illegal aliens already in the country, many of whom have been here for decades? What about illegals who come into the country through legal ports of entry? Why are they not a problem?
Just so I can enlighten to the ignorance in the comment above, The Old Pueblo was Mexican territory long before it was America, and it is the whites who came here and changed things. I understand it is uncomfortable to hear, but there were OTHER people on this land long before the European invasion and the USA.
