I chose St Thomas the Apostle. I had a Pastor who used to call me "Doubting Thomas" because of the way I questioned things. I was kind of a rebel. It stuck with me because I likely would have been the same way when I saw the risen Christ. I would have wanted to see some kind of proof to believe it. He got his proof and he believed.

There are many Saints who have done a great many things for The Church. What Saint inspires you or what Saint do you identify with or find comfort from?

I also used Thomas as my confirmation name. What name did you use/take at your confirmation?

Hard for me to choose anyone over the Angelic Doctor himself: Thomas Aquinas.

Also a fan of Anselm of Canterbury (my confirmation saint), Augustine, Hildegaard of Bingen, Pius V, and Pius X.

I wish Leo XIII would be canonized because I love the work of his pontificate.

Too many.
Aside from Our Lady, who is tops, the list goes on.

St Padre Pio is one of my favourites...
He is one of mine as well.

St Joseph, St Ann, St Francis [both], St Anthony, and the Apostles, and St Joan of Arc, basically each one for what they helped us to understand and how the Lord worked through their lives and their obedience.

ETA; all of them.

Care to elaborate?

I think his encyclicals are so profound, he wrote so many—twelve just on the rosary alone. He also created the Leonine Prayers which are incredibly important.

Would you care to elaborate about any of these saints?

You'll have to read for yourself, but they're all contemplatives and led me to
contemplative prayer.

St Bernadette, is known for her humility. I visited Lourdes and have
read her writings when she was a nun at the convent in Nevers, France.
You'd think it was written by an intellectual genius, yet she barely made
her first communion when she was 14 years old.

It still befuddles why an angel would be called a saint.

Gabriel and Rafael too...I imagine because they're the only ones who directly interacted in human history? Just a thought

I don’t know but my first thought from a human perspective is it does not make much sense.

Other than the Blessed Virgin and St. Joseph, I like St. Gregory the Great, St. Benedict, and St. Therese and feel special devotion to them. I also love St. Jude and St. Anne.

@rturner76 nice question to ask.

So far, there are so many to get to know, its impossible to make any decisions on whom is my favorite as am still learning the faith....

Right now though, I am leaning to just adore St Gertrude and have a small booklet of her prayers.

Here is a blurb about her from a google search:

Gertrude the Great was a German Benedictine nun and mystic. She is recognized as a saint by the Catholic Church and by The Episcopal Church.

In the year 1281, St. Gertrude had her first vision of Jesus, in which he called her to conversion and told her, “I have come to comfort you and bring you salvation.” By God's grace, she dramatically reoriented her priorities and immersed herself in Scripture, the writings of the Church Fathers, and theology.
