• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out in a panic,it’s a thought I’ve never had before that I seemingly have no anxiety over, but I reject it.

So while I was praying to the Lord,I said to him “Please father God sustain me for life” and as soon as I said life I thought “Life?!,that is overbearing and overwhelming,I can’t stay for life!” And immediately I felt my heart sink,I immediately repented and confessed though I felt no remorse for thinking it! I know how extremely stupid of a decision it is to turn from the lord, but needless to say I still am choosing to follow the Lord because I know nothing will satisfy me more than him. However I think I’m only honoring Jesus with my lips because I keep praying. That I didn’t mean that thought and for God to change my heart.

But I feel no remorse or concern over it and it’s alarming.

Please,I’m very worried and shaken,I’ve never encountered a thought like this, and I don’t feel any desire for the lord or to still follow him and that’s more worrisome……

Great thing to pray.

3 John verse 2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

,I can’t stay for life!”

If you are not staying for the length of your life, just how long will you be staying?

Your thoughts are out of control, please seek medical help.l

The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion. (Proverbs 28:1)

Since righteousness is defined by trust in God (Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38, Habakkuk 2:4) it is recommended to examine the foundations of the wickedness that assails your thoughts, with professional help.

Core improvement area "trust issues"

That was the scary part,I didn’t want to think that, what I meant was it seemed either boring or burdensome.I don’t ever want to leave God,I love the life he has given me and I love him.I was scared because of how I responded to the thought and thought about apostasy.

John your a very good supporter,I resisted the urge to leave God and I prayed for forgiveness immediately,Can God forgive me for this?

Can God forgive me for this?
He can forgive us for . . . whatever is really wrong.

And . . . by the way . . . therefore . . . possibly we need to be more busy with making sure we ourselves are forgiving. God is not in question, here, but we are!! :)

"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:31-32)

Jesus forgave Paul who murdered other Christians, he forgave concentration camp guards, men who deliberatly killed and abused helpless people.

Jesus knows your weaknesses and will not let your faith be quenched.

1John1:9 says God is faithfull and Will Forgive Us Our Sins. He does not expect us to live a sinless life, but is prepared to forgive, and forgive and forgive, again and again.

He expects us to have unlimited forgiveness of other only because his forgiveness is unlimited.

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so

These are thoughts coming from your flesh, we have a war inside of us, you need to learn to stand up to them. Whenever they come up, rebuke them because they are against God, and pray for God to cleanse your mind.

Every single time they come, rebuke them and pray for cleansing!

Blaise, you need to understand and apply these things, the flesh feels nothing, it is disrespectful, it is evil.

God withdraws temporarily and reveals just how evil our flesh is, there is nothing good in the flesh, and it is in eacu of us.

17Sanctify them by d the truth; your word is truth.

You pray to overcome, and have a relationship with God, so God withdraws and reveals the flesh to you cause its stopping you and needs to be dealt with, you can learn to control and overcome. He is answering your prayers.

17Sanctify them by d the truth; your word is truth.

Example, someone may do wrong to you and you may get very angry at them, this comes from the flesh.

So we quote scripture to ourself.

"Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not make room for the devil."

But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.

So when the flesh comes, rebuke, search out scripture relating to the problems you going through, quote scripture, and apply it instead of your flesh.
