Except to the words of Jesus Christ.
Those are the words of Christ. . .see below.
Jesus said in prayer to his God "This means eternal life, their knowing you the ONLY...TRUE...GOD and the one you sent forth."

Do you see Christ or the 'Holy Ghost' in this?
See post #59, following. . .I await your demonstration of its Biblical error:

Clare said: There is only one God. . .in three separate persons.
This church manta is OPPOSITE to what Jesus said.
So be it...
Clare said: Contrare. . .the "church manta" is precisely what Jesus said:

There is only one God. . .in three separate persons.

1) We have separate persons (divine agents) in the work of salvation:

Three--Father, Son and Holy Spirit
at its beginning (Luke 1:35),
at the inauguration of Jesus' public ministry (Matthew 3:16-17) and
in the work of atonement (Hebrews 9:14),

the Holy Spirit completing the work (salvation) of the Father through the Son (Acts 2:38-39; Romans 8:26; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; Ephesians 1:3-14, Ephesians 2:13-22; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Peter 1:2),

the only way to enter the kingdom of the Father is through faith in the Son and regeneration by the Holy Spirit (John 3:1-15).

2) Jesus himself shows the personhoods of three distinct and separate divine agents:

The Son is sent by the Father, in the Father's name (John 5:23, 36, 43).

The Spirit is sent by the Father in the Son's name (John 14:26).

The Spirit is subject to the Son as well as to the Father, for the Spirit is sent by the Son as well as the Father (John 15:26, 16:7, 14:26).

One doesn't send oneself, one sends another who is separate from oneself.

Jesus
shows three distinct and separate persons in the Trinity.

There is nothing in the "church manta" that is the opposite of what Jesus said.
Rather, the "church manta" is precisely what Jesus said.

Denial.
But, I have tried.
Tried to unseat the NT word of God? . . .a fool's errand.

Non-responsive. . .falls somewhat short of a Biblical demonstration.

Assertion without Biblical demonstration is assertion without Biblical merit.

Jesus said in prayer to his God "This means eternal life, their knowing you the ONLY...TRUE...GOD and the one you sent forth."

Do you see Christ or the 'Holy Ghost' in this?

John 17:3
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God,
and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent”

I believe one can read the text like this:

John 17:3
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee [you, God the Father] the only true God [the Godhead or Trinity - 1 John 5:7], and Jesus Christ [the Word], whom thou hast sent”

Why would I read it like that?

Well, because 1 John 5:20 says Jesus is the true God.

1 John 5:20
“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”

"Jesus saith unto her,
"Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.""
(John 20:17).

Is Jesus (Who is God) really saying He has a God?
In other words, does God have a God?

Well, in the beginning of the gospel of John, it says this...

John 1:1-2 KJV - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was WITH God, and the Word WAS God. The same was in the beginning with God."

In other words, John 20:17 is speaking in a similar way as John 1:1. The Word (Jesus - who is God) was with God the Father.

So when Jesus says... "I ascend unto... my God..." He is acknowledging that He is ascending to the Father who is God in essence in being (as a part of the plurality of the Godhead).

Yet, how can God have a God? Doesn't that imply a possession?
Yes, but Jesus says elsewhere, "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30).
Also, when Jesus uses the word "my" in the words "my God" He is also referring to whom He always obeys, too (Sort of like how a loyal servant always obeys His ruling King).

For Jesus says elsewhere, "... for I do always those things that please him." (John 8:29).
Also, when Jesus claimed to be God, and the Pharisees wanted to kill him for it, Jesus quoted Old Testament Scripture that says, "ye are gods." (i.e. gods = kings) as a way of protecting His mission in going to the cross (John 10:34).

Anyways, confusion on this topic arises because people need to know that the Lord our God is one God and yet He also has a plural nature to Him, as well.

For the Bible teaches that there is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4) (1 Timothy 2:5) (Isaiah 45:5).

Yet, the Bible also teaches that there are distinctions within the Godhead or that there is a plural nature to God.

Here are a couple of quick points:

#1. The word Elohim (אֱלֹהִ֔ים) is both a singular and a plural noun.
#2. God refers to Himself in plural form (Genesis 1:26) (Genesis 3:22) (Genesis 11:7) (Isaiah 6:8).
#3. Plurality of God in New Testament (Matthew 28:19) (2 Corinthians 13:14) (John 14:16-20).
#4. Introductions to both the Son & Holy Spirit (Daniel 7:9,10,13,14) (John 14:16)
#5. Different persons of Godhead appear at one time (Luke 3:21-22)
#6. Distinctions of Wills (Luke 22:42).
#7. Conversations Between the Godhead (Psalm 2:1-12) (Psalm 45:6-7) (Psalm 110:1) (Matthew 11:27) (John 17:24).

Jesus said in prayer to his God "This means eternal life, their knowing you the ONLY...TRUE...GOD and the one you sent forth."

Do you see Christ or the 'Holy Ghost' in this?

The Trinity is told to us in one verse:

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7).

Meaning, even nature itself declares the Godhead (or the Trinity):

Romans 1:20 says,
"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"

Atoms = Nucleus, Protons, Electrons.
Water Molecules = Hydrogen Atom, Hydrogen Atom, Oxygen Atom.
Fire needs 3 things: = Heat, Fuel, Oxygen.
Sun gives humans 3 things: = Light, warmth, and Vitamin D.
Colors of White Light = Red, Blue, Green.
Man's Formation = Dust, Mist (i.e. Water), Breadth of Life.
Man Made in God's Image = Physical Body, Spirit Body, Soul.
Time = Past, Present, Future.
Earth = Crust, Mantle, Core
3 Major Types of Light in the Sky = Sun, Moon, Stars

Although the word "Trinity" is not found within the Scriptures, the word "Godhead" is used instead (Acts of the Apostles 17:29) (Romans 1:20) (Colossians 2:9).

Jesus had power as God:

#1. Jesus said He has power to raise the dead to life just as the Father had power to raise the dead (John 5:21).
#2. Hebrews 1:3 talks about how Christ held all things together by the word of His power when He purged us of our sins.
#3. Jesus said, He would raise up this Temple (His body) three days later (John 2:19).
#4. Jesus had the power to forgive sins and give eternal life (Mark 2:7) (Luke 7:44-50) (John 14:6).
#5 Jesus had power to take away the sins of the entire world (John 1:29).
#6. Jesus Christ said wherever two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them (Matthew 18:20). This was said to the people he was around and not to just us today.
#7. Jesus knew men's thoughts (Matthew 9:4) (Matthew 12:25) (Mark 2:8) (Luke 5:22) (Luke 6:8) (Luke 9:47) (Luke 24:38).
#8. Jesus knew about the lives of others (John 2:24) (John 4:17-18) (John 4:29) (John 6:64).

God purchased us with His own blood:

“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” (Acts of the Apostles 20:28).

There is no Savior beside or next to God:

“I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.” (Isaiah 43:11).

“So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.” (Matthew 16:19).

Holy Spirit is God:

The Holy Spirit is called God:

“Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.” (Acts of the Apostles 5:3-4).
The Holy Spirit is on equal level with being God:

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19).
The Holy Spirit is eternal:

“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrews 9:14).
The Holy Spirit is a person:

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;” (John 14:16).
The Holy Spirit can be grieved:

“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30).
The Holy Spirit can be blasphemed:

“And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.” (Matthew 12:32).

Important Note: Only God can be blasphemed.
The Father Sent The Holy Spirit:

The Bible says that God the Father sent the Holy Spirit. Jesus said.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you (John 14:26).

The Father will send the Holy Spirit, not Himself, to help believers.

There Is A Difference Between The Father And The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit does the will of God the Father. Paul wrote.

And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will (Romans 8:27).

Source used for Holy Spirit being distinct from the Father:
Is the Holy Spirit a Distinct Person from God the Father?

BRAVO!
Church lists you have done no real research on- but you look good!

Well, first, you have said in another thread you are JW. You are not allowed to post in the Christian section of the forums at CF. Second, I have debated this topic for many years and I am intimately familiar with many of these verses and I even created some of these lists myself. I don’t see your belief in Scripture. It’s an attack upon the true character of God as revealed in His Holy Word. But of course instead of addressing the actual verses, you resort to clever comments instead.

I have a list where every scripture identifying God, including the words of Jesus himself.
Want me to post it!
Would you even bother to do research?

No. You cannot post it here because you stated in another thread you are JW and JW’s are not allowed to post in the Christian section of the forums. Besides, I already posted many reasons in Scripture showing how Jesus is God. You simply ignored those points and you want to simply repeat what you want to believe from your own slanted view of the Scriptures, friend.

Or, would you prefer me to take your list of scriptures, ONE AT A TIME, to examine the context you so conveniently neglected to do!

Sorry, you cannot post here in the Christian section of the forums. You can only post in section called, Outreach or Discussion and Debate, or any other Non-Christian section of the forums.

Nice dodge! Funny how you DREAD an honest look at scripture!

You can post your belief in the non-Christian section of the forums and debate with Christians there. I really don’t feel the need to debate something so basic. If you don’t believe the verses I presented, then so be it. That’s on you. Most of your verses are most likely nothing new to me. I have already discussed this issue for a long time now and it is simply not needed. Besides, it’s not a one sided debate where you hold all the cards. You need to address the verses I presented, too.

Not nearly as funny (translate: pathetic) as your DREAD in Biblically demonstrating your asserted errors in the posts of others.

Assertion without Biblical demonstration is assertion without Biblical merit.

I don’t believe Jesus Omniscience was unsuppressed at John 16:30 and neither do I believe He received all knowledge from God the Father or the Spirit at this point in His life because Jesus asks the Father if there is another way vs. taking the cup that had all our sins in it in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:39). I believe John 16:30 is merely expressing how Jesus can know all things by asking the Father. But we have to realize that this is his disciples saying this in John 16:30. Jesus claimed He did not know the day or the hour of His own return, but only the Father knew (See Mark 13:32). We have to understand that his disciples misunderstood a lot. The disciples did not even understand Christ’s death and resurrection prior to the cross or Calvary.
Agreed...this is what I was trying to express, but I do believe that the disciples though spiritually poor...the Spirit had not yet been given...were referring to the foreknowledge of Christ in His speaking to them and nothing else.

I am a Christian.
I have accepted Christ as my Savior.

But I am not welcome here, altho others have!

I did not make the rules of the thread.
But yes, I would consider your belief to be heretical enough whereby I would not have fellowship with you. Nobody can worship a false version of God.

ANOTHER scripture he denies~

1 John 5:15-Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

Actually, it is 1 John 4:15 that says that.

1 John 4:15
“Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.”

This is talking about how Jesus (the Eternal Word) became flesh. He is the Son of God in the sense that He was within the physical line of Mary going all the way back to Adam (Who was a son of God). This does not prove Jesus was created or had a beginning.

Micah 5:2 says,
“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

I don’t think the disciples knew anything about how Christ suppressed His Omniscience as God during Christ’s earthly ministry. I think they may have actually believed Christ literally knew all things exhaustively (Omniscience). In a way Christ did know all things exhaustively, but that knowledge was simply suppressed. Also, it was true because Jesus could gain access to any knowledge He wanted at any moment from the Father if He asked.

Hmmm! Let's review what JESUS said!

John 3: 17-For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18- He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God.

3:33-He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. 34- For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. 35- The Father loveth the son, and hath given all things into his hand.

Who can give GOD all things?

What does "He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true" mean in 21st Century English? "Set to his seal"????

John5:18- Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

Did Christ confirm this?
He did in Luke 22:70.

Keeping in mind that both Jesus and the NT present the Holy Spirit as God, the third divine person of the Trinity (post #55).

Genesis 1:1: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth—

Hebrew linear:
בְּרֵאשִׁית, בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים, אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ. 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

This word: אֵת

The Aleph and the Tav. It's the "A" and the "Z" in the Hebrew language. The "Alpha" and the "Omega".

It is an untranslated word from the Hebrew scriptures.

Revelation 1:8: I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, the one who is and the one who was and the one who is coming, the All-Powerful.

Isaiah 41:4: Who has accomplished and done this,
calling the generations from the beginning?
I, Yahweh, am first;
and I am the one with the last.

Isaiah 44:6: Thus says Yahweh, the king of Israel,
and its redeemer, Yahweh of hosts:
“I am the first, and I am the last,
and there is no god besides me.

Revelation 1:17: And when I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead person, and he placed his right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last,

Revelation 2:8: “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:

Revelation 21:6: And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give water from the spring of the water of life freely.

Revelation 22:13: I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

John 1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The WORD was God.

The Aleph Tav in the Hebrew Scriptures:
"Within the Hebrew Scriptures is a tiny little two-letter word "et" (אֵ֥ת), spelled with two Hebrew letters "aleph" and "tav," which are the first and last letters of the Hebrew "aleph-bet." This word often doesn't get translated into English because of a lack of clarity as to its meaning.

There are some speculations that this word is a pointer to the direct object in the sentence. The pointer theory is right in some cases, but not all of them. As we shall see, it is more likely the sign of the Lord Jesus's covenanted presence as it concerns the events of the text.

The very first mention of this word is in the very first sentence of the Bible twice.

בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית בָּרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֵ֥ת הָאָֽרֶץ

The literal word for word rendering of the above verse in Hebrew, when reading from right to left in English, is "in beginning" created, Elohim, 'et' (Aleph-Tav in bold) the heavens and 'et' (Aleph-Tav in bold) the earth."

Recall that Jesus is the "Alpha and Omega," "The First and the Last" The Beginning and the End," "The One Who is and was and is to come," and with this understanding, we can now say He is also "The Aleph and the Tav" which is the equivalent of all of these titles. "Aleph" and "tav," recall, is the first and last, and the beginning and end of the Hebrew aleph-bet. Just as alpha and omega are the first and last, beginning and end of the Greek alphabet, we have the Bible beginning with the Aleph andTav and ending with the Alpha and Omega.

(...)

The "aleph-tav," in exclusive combination, occurs a little over 7000 times in the Old Testament. Their occurrences are most often relative to covenant events where God is directly involved. The first two mentions concern creation and connect heaven and earth. The third use of (et אֵ֥ת) occurs at the scene of the bringing forth of light.

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw (et אֵ֥ת) the light, that it was good.

— Genesis 1:3-4

John understood this connection of the beginning and the end as he wraps up the first few verses of Genesis in the following writing at the opening of the fourth Gospel and relates them to the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men . . . That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him..And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth . . .

— John 1:1-5,14"

Beautiful! God almighty.

In the beginning Aleph Tav God created the heavens and the earth. Jesus created the heavens and the earth :D :heart:

Obviously Jesus was with God because he is God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word is God.

Did I get that right?

Yes. You and @GreekOrthodox and @Clare73 beautifully defended the Holy Apostolic Faith as confessed in the Nicene Creed and the CF.com Statement of Faith.

Edit: and @Minister Monardo, @YeshuaFan, and @Bible Highlighter who discovered that dude was a JW, a neo-Arian, so congratulations.

:clap::oldthumbsup:

We might well resume this interesting discussion.
