Say for example Russia invades Ukraine, and NATO responds, does anyone think China might find that an opportune time to also grab Taiwan..? Causing a full scale world War?

What do you think?
NATO will not respond, because Ukraine is not a NATO member.

But there will be severe economical sanctions against Russia from the EU and USA and both EU and USA will provide military equipment and other forms of help to Ukraine.

Taiwan isn't a NATO member either, but I've heard rumors that some NATO member countries would be willing to protect the country militarily.

...And if a NATO member is attacked, what would that mean as far as NATO turning on it's war machine?

I do not think any NATO member would like to go to a direct military conflict with Russia or China. I think any help to these countries would be mostly economical and political. And if militarily, then it would not be done openly.

Also important to note:

US to send troops to Europe if Russia invades Ukraine
Its just a symbolic gesture. Russia has no interest to wage a war with EU or NATO.

But the long term military doctrine of Russia is to have some neutral countries between Russia and NATO, at least Finland and Ukraine. And because Ukraine wants to get to NATO, Russia is doing this flexing to stop that.

Let us hope no invasion will happen. Nobody would win, the economic lost for Russia, even if victorious, would be huge.

Sorry about the big bold letters, I meant to share a link, but lost it somehow.

The US and NATO will not do anything militarily against Russia for actions in Ukraine, especially with our current administration. I could see China using it as an opportunity to move on Taiwan....but even there I personally don't see a shooting war between Taiwan and China involving the US. I see it far more likely actions are taken, perhaps a skirmish or two, and then back door talks with the US telling Taiwan we can't actually risk a real war with China, and then the ROC coming to terms with the mainland. They will bargain for a situation like Hong Kong, knowing their independence will be eroded sooner than later.

It is hard to imagine a real shooting war with the people of Taiwan taking the most casualties. It is a highly developed society, with a densely populated landmass. It is very difficult to believe the people would be willing to devastate their nation for a war that they know they will loose. The hope has always been to hold out long enough for the US to do something, but at this point it seems very unlikely our administration would actually do anything to defend the ROC.

The mainland is not the China of 1960. The ROC is not in the position it was in the 1970's, and the USA is not in the position of strength we were in at the end of the cold war. Global priorities and strategies have changed. China is ascending and it seems the US is descending out of global dominance. The situation in Taiwan is not tenable forever, something will have to give eventually.

What do you think?

Russia-Ukraine Tension: Could What’s Happening on the Border Lead to War?
Or maybe China swallows up Taiwan and Russia takes that opportunity to swallow up Ukraine. Either or. I expect it. What we don't know is what NATO or the USA would do. My guess is that information is somewhere in Joe Biden's mind. So maybe there will be no war as China takes Taiwan and Russia takes Ukraine and it's just a done deal.

This is foretold by Jesus in Matthew 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

this has started , Jesus will come soon

One chance for Taiwan is to hold so long that the Chinese communism will fall first. Developed democracies do not wage war with each other.

A second chance is to create a coalition with Japan and other pacific ocean nations against China.

Look.

We must remember that Russia as a whole is a Christian nation.

While I do not know if Putin is or isn’t a Christian in his heart, we *do* know that the Russian people are Orthodox.

China on the other hand is state atheism.

We must pray for all countries.
But on a global threat level, especially in regards to religion and freedom, China is more of a threat than Russia.
The Russian government is just trying to not sink.
China is similar but their people are more brainwashed.

And before you’re like oh Kingdom of the north: China is in the north and their national animal is the panda which is also a bear. So take that what you will. I’m not saying either one is it but it’s beginning to look more like China.

And how much bolder will Russia and China become later, should they succeed in such things... I'm almost afraid to ask.

...Possibly Africa and South America would become areas of interest? Possibly Japan?

The only passes with roads through a very few river valleys through the caucasion mountains to the north of Ukraine are very long, winding and not really very helpful for moving armies through. I don't think that the geography would make this very easy for Russia. The Ukraine would not be a push over either, it is a very big country, with very big armed forces.

Russia's armed forces are also heavily committed in too many other places as well. The Russian's are very unlikely to want a war on this scale. The death toll would be millions and the cost would be thousands of billions. Russia just can't afford that. Even after the war, the counts of maintaining enough troops in Ukraine to control a very angry population, for who knows how many years, would be totally crazy.

Russia has miscalculated, the Dooma is expecting the water shortage to cost Russia 900 billion dollars to get it sorted, if a way can be found to get it sorted. Invading Crimea at all, was a very bad idea for Russia and the ongoing situation is not getting any better, any time soon. Russia has built a very long road bridge and a very long rail bridge between Russia and Crimea across the sea. It could be the most expensive bridges which have been built anywhere in the world.

Ukraine has some very large and well equiped armed forces, with plenty of investment in modern weapons and their people are well motivated to fight. Russia is just hoping that one day, the ukrainians will get fed up and agree to a peace deal. Ukraine is very big, but not big enough to beat Russia. Russia is a military super power, but the cost of suceeding invading the whole of the Ukraine is not affordable, so stalemate!

Ukraine is a poor country with very old equipment. They are getting some new weapons from richer countries now, but is it enough?

Their motivation to fight - I do not know, during the Crimean invasion, they did not do much heavy fighting. But the area was already very pro-Russian, so maybe thats why.

Since China is now getting mentioned. China has got it's own problems too. It gets a lot of it water from really huge rivers fed by glaciers in the mountains. Guess what? Global warming has been melting these glaciers. One day, those glaciers will be gone, which means the rivers will be gone as well. I don't think that they will find that very helpful. What are they going to do about that?

I have to disagree, because what we're witnessing now is Russia threatening another Christian nation militarily, who hasn't done anything wrong.

Ukraine is actually an exporter of weapons and has been for a long time. In my thirties, I was a weapons design engineer and this fact was known even then. I don't know how modern their own manufactured weapons would be these days, but they have been buying plenty of quite high tech stuff from elsewhere. They also are a major world exporter of wheat, they used to be the bread basket of the USSR.

The GDP of Ukraine is $184 billion, which is below countries like Vietnam or Colombia.
And GDP per capita is only $4,380, which is below Mongolia, Namibia or Guatemala.
