Do you have any evidence that proves the vaccinations are the reason symptoms were mild?

Yes, I do. As per comments by those who are experts in the matter. Although it will take at least a couple of weeks to determine how efficient the current vaccines are against the new variant.

'Dr. Hanage and other researchers said that vaccines will most likely protect against Omicron, but further studies are needed to determine how much of the shots’ effectiveness may be reduced.'

'Even if Omicron does prove more transmissible than other variants, Dr. Hanage said that vaccines would most likely remain vital weapons against it, both by slowing down its spread and making it more likely that people who do get sick only have mild Covid-19 instead of needing to go to the hospital.

New Virus Variant Stokes Concern but Vaccines Still Likely to Work

And please note that last sentence. It says that even if you are vaccinated you can still get sick. I'll repeat that: You can still get sick. Just not as sick as you would be if you aren't vaccinated.

And one more time, as this really doesn't seem to be getting through to some people. If you are vaccinated there is still a reduced chance that you will get covid, but the symptoms will not be as severe.

The problem is that the vaccinated can spread the virus just as easily as the unvaccinated and since their symptoms will tend to be milder, they may be unaware they even have it and are spreading it. Meanwhile we demonize the unvaccinated as if they alone cause spread.

That is more than offset by the fact that the unvaccinated are five times more likely to catch the virus. Though that is the updated figure taking the Delta Variant into consideration. It may change with the Omicron Variant. So yes, it is correct to blame the unvaccinated for spreading the disease more than the vaccinated.

And since international travel is all but banned for the unvaccinated it would be truly surprising if an unvaccinated person was the first to bring it here on an international flight.

COVID-19 infections are rare and mild after vaccination

"New research is showing that although some vaccinated people are still contracting COVID-19, they generally experience milder disease for a shorter period of time with a low viral load. The study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, offers some of the first robust data tracking the severity of “breakthrough infections.”

I've also heard of unvaccinated people getting it and having mild symptoms, or were even asymptomatic. At the same time, I've heard of people (such as Colin Powell) who were fully vaxxed and ended up dying of Covid. It seems that it could go either way no matter what.

If by that you are implying that it's not worth being vaccinated then your logic is not improving...

Yes, different people different results. What one has to go by are statistics, not anecdotes. The plural of anecdotes is not "evidence" since individual cases can be all over the place. I had Covid19 a year ago. I had recovered enough to go back to work after what I thought was just a bad case of the flu. There was regular testing at my workplace and I was found to be Covid positive. Back home for me. Meanwhile a coworker of mine got Covid at the same time. She ended up going to the hospital and never went home. Colin Powell was 84 and had other health issues. He was also due for a booster. He had postponed his. Which reminds me, I need to get a booster next week sometime. I had the virus but that did not stop me from getting vaccinated. Nor will it stop me from getting a booster.

The unvaccinated are the ones that use up healthcare resources when they become ill because they are far sicker compared to wiser people that have been vaccinated.

Most (~80%) pre-vax covid cases were asymptomatic or mild. Attributing the mildness of a case to the vaccine would ignore that fact.

Quantifying asymptomatic infection and transmission of COVID-19 in New York City using observed cases, serology, and testing capacity

Most car accidents aren't serious. Your argument would suggest that attributing that fact to safety procedures would ignore it. It obviously doesn't. It's a nonsensical position. Safety procedures are there to help protect people from the serious accidents. Vaccines are there to help prevent serious infections.

Nearly three quarters of a million cases in the US alone were what you might describe as serious.

Oh, I forgot. Colin Powell is just an anecdote now.

Yes.

I left this site years ago because the same folks suck all the oxygen out of the room with zero reflection or personal growth.

It is exhausting and pointless. Frankly the same thing happened to Facebook.

It seems like most forums inevitably end up with a collection of obsessive, stubborn people that drive out normal, well adjusted people.

You're ignoring the fact that the vast majority of cases were asymptomatic or mild. Does science ignore facts like that when deciding that cases are only mild if a person is vaccinated? Or is that only the job of people who simply talk big about science while cherry-picking the parts of it they like?

Exactly. My wife had it after being vaccinated. I never had symptoms and was never vaccinated.
