Can Christians Be Hurt by Witchcraft or Black Magic?

Not sure if this is the right place to post but I live with a grandmother that believes in this type of stuff and i feel like after falling into sin it allowed her black magic to affect me in some way.. any advice?

To my knowledge I've never been affected by either, but "greater is He that is in you than he that is in this world" from 1 John 4:4 comes to mind.

It can be put on in just a moment of time.. but once you put it on you can just as quickly remove it if you take your eyes off of Christ. That is the lesson of Peter walking on the water towards Christ who when he looks back with pride at his fellow disciples in the boat - takes his eyes off Christ and begins to sink in the water.

With God's armor on - you will have peace in the midst of the storm. God is already shielding you even before you knew about this - but now that you know - you must exercise your free will and choose to pray Eph 6, study Eph 6.

And look for the other Bible texts that deal with waging war against dark spirits.

It is possible. We are in a spiritual war. If we are passive, we may come under attack. We have the armour of God, but it's no use if we don't wear it. We have the sword of the Spirit, but we have to draw it and wield it. It's no use if it's sheathed.

You need to bind the occult spirit daily. Claim the protection of the precious blood of Christ. You may remember how Satan was forced to leave the Israelis alone when he saw the blood of the lamb on each home. This looks forward to the precious blood of the Lord Jesus. We ask God to force the Destroyer to pass over us. God honours His word.

So you know, I grew up in a home where the occult was just a part of life. I nearly died as a child and our lives were extremely difficult. We had a poltergeist in one place we lived (we moved every couple of years). Our neighbours were Christians. One day, their young daughter came to play with us (4 kids). The poltergeist threw a book at the child and left the house, never to return. I believe that her parents prayed for us. Indeed greater is He who is in us! And in spite of my upbringing, the Lord saved me just before I turned 21.

Are you in fellowship - is your pastor/elders competent to give you the support you need in the circumstances?

Combined prayer with the mature will put more to flight and the wise oversight will assist with understanding what to do about it.

Each piece of the armor is emphasizing part of the Gospel and a specific application of the Word of God.

For example:
Eph 6 Shield of Faith: "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" Rom 10

God's "Word is living and active and sharper than a two-edged sword " Heb 4 - and it is a shield against the fiery arrows/darts of the evil one.

Claim Bible promises to defeat the enemy because God says "My word will not return to Me empty --- without accomplishing what I sent it out to do"... God's word "returns" in the form of prayer that presents that Word back to God in faith.

This may be a topic for another thread, but some appropriate the putting on by faith given that the various pieces of armour are spiritually real.

Others believe the aspects of the armour must be built into one's character to be effective.

God allowed a messenger from Satan to trouble Paul - He prayed to be free from this several times and the request was not granted.

Actually! Some people who profess to be believers, have gone out there, to seek protection against witches & wizards that are out to harm them & as a result, they cannot be harmed indeed by any type of witchcraft whatsoever.

Unfortunately though, there is a catch to it, the devil will take our souls along with him, if we do not repent. Even if one feels that they are not causing harm towards others, but are simply finding help to protect themself, it does not matter. We would have to repent completely and seek God. The only protection one should have is that which comes from God Himself. Anything outside of that, will eventually lead us into the lake of fire..

Some people have even gone as far as seeking demonic powers & entering into ordinances that offer wealth, influencial positions in society, protection & so on from fetish priests & all kinds of spiritualists, but if they do not turn their backs on this lifestyle, they will be answerable on the day..


I guess one has got to ask themself, which is it going to be? Will it be temporary diabolical protection, wealth & other power = hell vs Jesus being formed inside of us through His word, which automatically starts to protect us from all kinds of witchcraft + leads us into eternal life.

Paul was thwarted by Satan. (1 Thessalonians 2:18). Who is continually devoted to Jesus and never lets their guard down? The one who thinks he stands should watch out in case he falls. (1 Corinthians 10:12) We are at war. We must actively resist the devil.

This is true.
Paul had a propensity for pride due to his many revelations. The messenger from satan (which I believe to be buffeting in the form of constant persecution and trouble) came to help keep him humble and content with what he had.
Well, I have no such problem with pride because I am aware that I am but a single blade of grass in the field of billions. But the adversary knows where were are weak and he is constantly prodding and testing our will to continue. I live on 1 Corin 13;10

13. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

I am constantly looking for that guarantied way of escape. Lord help me find it!

Leviticus chapter 19, God will cut off anyone who messes with the occult. The person can repent and be forgiven. If that person is sincere and converts to christianity, acts chapter 3 to document. Those who refuse to repent and conform to God's standard. Will have spot in hell. It's called sheol and Hades. It's holding place for the spirtualty dead or wicked. I'm not judging anyone. Those messing with the occult have a unclean spirit. Light and darkness can't coexist. My advice. I would move out away from her. Just keep distance from the person. Understand this. The person will impede on your spiritual growth and be negative influence. Psalm 9:17, the wicked go to sheol. Second Corinthians 6:14. Ne ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light and darkness? 6:17. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing ; and I will receive you. I moved away from narcissist in 2018. This person was interfering with my spirtual growth and bad influence. Listening to false brethren. Its your decision. Peace.
