pure popular votes are unfair as well since often people living in the same areas have common values regardless of the population so broadly speaking most from California may not share the same value set as most from Wyoming so then it turns into the game of the highest population controlling the outcome and perhaps rural populations would not get fair representation.
This argument has never made sense to me. First of all, we are not an autocracy, so the President being elected by majority would not result in "unfair representation" for rural areas as the President's power is balanced by the legislative branch (most notably the Senate, where all states have equal representation regardless of population) and the Supreme Court. Second, I don't see what would make it "unfair" - one person, one vote is as fair as you can get when selecting an individual to represent the entire country. Third, it's perfectly possible for a presidential candidate to run on a platform that would appeal to both rural and urban voters - while they don't always have the same priorities, there are certainly things that they can agree on, and their differing priorities are not necessarily in opposition to each other.

A better idea than abolishing the electoral college.
A better idea towards what end? Adding a new state into an unsound system does nothing to right it.

That is EXACTLY why we can't change the US Constitution. It is perfected in its glory and cannot be changed.

I guess we should get rid of all the amendments! Well, maybe we can keep the first 10, since they were voted in with the Constitution. It does make me ask, though, how can the Constitution be perfect if it required amendments before it had even been approved?

You ask a lot of questions. America doesn't need that kind of attitude. That isn't American.

The next version of language will have special tags to deliminate those things which are true vs those things which were written in jest. Right now it is impossible to tell when one is not serious.

They could actually get something done in Congress.

The addition of a DC, or whatever name they took as a state, delegation to congress would not sufficiently tip the balance to make that happen.

Asking to abolish the electoral college,
just makes people mad.

It make me quite happy, guess I don't count?
