There's been many versions of Superman's son (or sons) over the decades. An LGBT version was inevitable.
Pretty much. It’s a big multiverse with a lot of room for a lot of things. Comics are a reflection of the society they are created in.

This sums it up.

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

It's what happens when given the freedom for the pursuit of happiness, it gets easily confused with the pursuit of pleasure. It's a hedonistic world view within modern literature. Which doesn't necessarily produce any kind of happiness at all.

It's much clearer to understand that at some point the pleasure of food becomes gluttony, the pleasure of beer, wine and strong drink becomes the alcoholic. Throw sex in (including hetero) and you have all the major vices grouped together.

The bottom line when it involves being a real superhero is Romans 6:16 and fighting the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. 1 John 2:16

They just got to ruin every traditional franchise for their social justice crap... :(

They didn't go far enough. The boyfriend should be a person of color. Someone needs to tell them to step it up.

May I ask who in this context " they" are?

I'm still flabbergasted how they ruined Star Wars. That really cost Disney some money, they broke a Golden Goose / money printing machine trying to launch a "Future Is Female" brand with its own copy right characters (Which would have deprived Lucas of his cut, since he was allowed to keep ownership rights of the original characters).

I hope posting this isn't taken as a TOS violation. I just wonder what people think. Obviously, it's a controversial, and somewhat risky move. Are the writers being inclusive, and creating a character with whom some readers can identify? Or is this pandering for publicity?

Superman's son comes out as bisexual in a new comic. It's a big deal — sort of

Meh. Probably about time. Given the hundreds of superheros in the DC universe, statistically it's almost impossible that one isn't bisexual.

Somewhere around 1 in 25 to 1 in 50 people either identify as bisexual, or have reported both sex attraction but haven't acted on them. It's a hard number to pin down though, as categories and definitions aren't standardised.

In some cultures, there are significantly higher reported rates of bisexuality (in Brazil and France, for instance).

On some cultures, significantly lower. For instance, both the UK and the US have relatively low reported rates of people who identify as 'bisexual' - usually just under or at 1%. However, surveys in the UK and the US of people who self-identify as heterosexual generally find between 4% and 8% of respondents report 'some' same sex attraction or same sex sexual activity in the past.

And, people's own definitions of whether they're heterosexual, bisexual or homosexual also vary and are inexact. I have a pair of female friends who very occasionally end up in bed together. This has gone on for about 10 years. One considers herself predominately heterosexual - all her long term, exclusive relationships are with men. The other girl considers herself homosexual, but she occasionally sleeps with men too.

Sexual identity is not a black and white thing.

As a long term Star Wars fan (I've run an active Star Wars blog, dealing with the Extended Universe, for 19 years), that's not what "ruined" Star Wars.

Lazy writing (poor plotting, structure and inconsistent tone), too many Macguffins, set-up with no payoff, a disconnect between the second and third films (and to a lesser extent the first and the second), wasted/Flanderised characterisations, characters holding the 'idiot ball', characters wasted on inconsequential/padded subplots, pacing issues, poor use of humour during periods of dramatic tension, subversion of expectations for the sake of it, poor deconstruction, unexciting battle/combat scenes, nonsensical battle/combat scenes.

That's what ruined Star Wars. Oh and the total a$$pull of "Palpetine is back" - if you're going to do that, at least do something worthy of it, a la Dark Empire (which the sequel trilogy broadly ripped off anyway, and The Rise of Skywalker could have learned about 50 things from).

Rey, Holodo, Rose, Jannah et al aren't bad characters (okay, maybe Holodo is) - they were just poorly done by in terms of writing and execution.

I agree with a lot of your post I thought the basic idea of a female Jedi was fine and potentially a good twist. Rey however had a lot of Mary Sue problems and that I think had a lot due to the "Future is Female" agenda as well as the bad management of the Star Wars and Disney's aggressive film making goals which really sacrificed fore thought, planning, refining ideas etc.

JJ Abrahams, Kathleen Kennedy etc. thought you could just have different people work on the same project and everybody would meet in the middle like building the first Intercontinental railway, but that didn't work. The head guy working on the Last Jedi decided to do his own thing and that was allowed etc. due to the freedom and lack of oversight Abrahams gave him. But not only did he ruin Luke Skywalker much to Mark Hamill's chagrin, but his killing off the lead villain threw a monkey wrench into how to wrap up the Trilogy. Since Palatine is a fan favorite, and the old fans were mad at them that seemed like a good way to go. But to really do such a thing properly, you need to have a big reveal planned ahead of time, where it will make sense. It also is nice to drop hints or clues for the people that like to be Detectives etc. But since this was an impromptu plot twist you get this incredible unbelievable plot twist that doesn't really make sense (If you consider logistics and other kinds of things) and maybe even breaks/contradicts some aspects of canon or other kind of plot things you were trying to do in the first film.
