Speaking on a stage together with Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, and Hindu representatives, Pope Francis appealed for peace amid the world’s current conflicts.

VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis asked leaders of world religions to resist “the temptation to fundamentalism” for the sake of peace at an interreligious gathering Thursday in front of the Colosseum.

Peace “summons us to serve the truth and declare what is evil when it is evil, without fear or pretense, even and especially when it is committed by those who profess to follow the same creed as us,” the Pope said Oct. 7.

I’m so torn on this.
Like yes, interfaith relations are good. But it is such a fine line to walk as not to give rise to the acceptance that any other faith is the path to salvation.

You’re in the Catholic Forum. Please refrain from Anti-Catholic rhetoric.
I was referring to promoting peace between religions and faiths while still staying true to the doctrines of the Church

I have no problem with interfaith relations because religious leaders of all stripes should be encouraging the people of the world to have some sort of faith, even if it isn't their particular brand because it's better than an atheistic planet.

However Pope Francis cares more about things like "climate change" and "inclusive capitalism" than he cares about the catholic faith, so I don't think that he's engaging in this activity from a pure hearted place.

Look. I’m not Roman Catholic.
I agree with scientists that climate change is real.
We should be good stewards of the earth. Revelations states that those that destroy the earth will be destroyed.

But calling earth “Mother Earth”?
How about “God’s creation” or “the earth God created”?
I do not think Christians have ever called Earth “Mother Earth”. Only pagans have.

Faith Relations for peacekeeping is always a good thing but not at the expense of saying their faith is on the same level as Christianity. I think it better to remain silent to keep the peace. It is a very fine line to walk indeed. I tend to not agree with interfaith prayers etc

Climate change is real, but the narrative that we're being told about it is false. The Earth's climate changes-- as a matter of fact it has changed many times, but the difference is that when it's changed before, humans have accepted that there is quite literally nothing that we can do about it, so we just have to adapt. The current climate change narrative from the globalist democrat party is that the climate should not change at all and that there is something that we can do about it if we just tax people for driving cars and using air conditioning.

The whole idea of a "carbon tax" is stupid and will do literally nothing to stop the climate from changing. If the climate is changing, which it is, it's going to change regardless of what we try to do about it and we're going to have to adjust our societies accordingly and if we can't, then that's our problem. Some people and places will be fine, but since Florida is going to be underwater, I'm moving to upstate NY in another year or two to get somewhere with a little elevation that's further than two or three miles from the water like I am now.

Almighty God said that he'd never again destroy mankind through a flood. He didn't say anything about either freezing us out or burning us up, and I think that whatever happens to the earth climate wise is due to the judgment of God that we rightfully deserve for how degenerate our societies have become: allowing children to be slaughtered en masse in utero and allowing every manner of unspeakable sexual perversion to be celebrated. We are a global civilization that has made it abundantly clear that we do not want God as the center of our lives, so He's removing His blessing from our societies and He'll likely find that the people in Latin America, Asia, and Africa are more than willing to put Him first and thus, will bless them the way that we used to be blessed. America and Europe threw God out of our societies and we are now getting what we deserve in that he has given the majority in our countries over to a reprobate mind and we're watching our civilizations crumble apart without Almighty God as the glue that holds them together.

There is still possibility that people in Europe and America will see their folly and fall down on their faces and ask God to return to them, but I don't have a lot of hope in that so I'm basically along for the ride at this point and a wild ride it is going to be. I also feel like if revival is going to come to America and the West, that it's going to start in the former Soviet Union and they will eventually spread it to us. Those people went about a century under state-enforced atheism and as a result, faith is making a pretty big comeback over there. If not the former Soviet Union, we will have to look to Latin America, Asia, and Africa to spearhead revival.

We shall see. Only time will tell. Until then: Lord have mercy on us and save us!

I mean, I think life is definitely going to become more difficult and civilization will have to find a way to adapt and we very well might be able to do so, but the people claiming that we need to tax people for driving cars and using air conditioning and that this will somehow fix the climate are selling us bunk. No amount of taxation or government spending is going to be able to keep the climate the way that it is now. Even if we all stopped driving our personal vehicles tomorrow, it wouldn't change anything and eventually the temperature of the planet would rise and weather patterns would change as a result.

Earth has gone through ice ages and greenhouse periods before and the creatures of earth obviously knew how to adapt to these changes because most of us are still here today. Life is remarkably resilient and God designed our planet the way he did for a reason.

I think pollution is a problem and holding companies accountable is appropriate.
But if for example, the wild fires are in God's plan well…then there is not much we can do about it except repent and pray.

But if for example, the wild fires are in God's plan well

Wildfires are actually in God's design of the earth. Now I think that a lot of the ones that are happening now are being purposely set by people with agendas, but God worked wildfires into the design of the planet when they are naturally occurring through lightning strikes (as many of them are in many cases).

God uses wildfires to control the growth of plants so that the ecosystems do not become unbalanced. Too many of specific types of plants leads to too many of specific insects, disease can become a factor-- all sorts of stuff. God has worked in ways for the natural world to continually tend itself without the help of humans. For instance, as the seas rise there will no doubt be volcanic eruptions that lead to new land masses (over a long period of course) but we have to remember that this earth is designed in a specific way and for humans to think that we can render it capable of supporting little to no life at all is simply presumptuous on our part. Even non-natural disasters like Chernobyl haven't rendered the exclusionary zone around the power plant to be uninhabitable, there are plenty of plants and animals that have gotten along just fine since April of 1986 in that region.

What humans tend to do, is render areas uninhabitable for humans. God's other creations are surprisingly a lot less delicate than we are.

God’s mad

I don't blame him. I've always said that people should thank God that I am nothing like God, because I would not be anywhere near as merciful on my creation as he is on his. But mankind, particularly the United States, continues to provoke God's wrath and then acts surprised when bad things happen. We've kicked God out of American and Western European society and then we act shocked as said society crumbles away into nothingness and degeneration.

Woe to the nation that calls good "evil & evil "good". This is precisely what America and Western Europe are doing these days, so Almighty God has given our leaders both politically and culturally over to a reprobate mind and is allowing us to fester in our sin. What we see going on in America and Western Europe, is the end result of removing God from society and God isn't going to stay where he's not wanted when people in Africa, Latin America, and Asia are desperately calling out to him.

Put simply, the term fundamentalist has often become, in common parlance, a pejorative term used to effectively place certain groups into that fenced-off area reserved for haters, bigots, homophobes, and uncaring crazies who are either filled with blood lust or have already carried out acts of terror and “absurd violence”. On top of that, it is widely accepted in many quarters that all religions have some form of “fundamentalism”, and it must be sequestered off from those who practice peace, love, and understanding.

This is apparently how Pope Francis understands fundamentalism as well, based on remarks made on several occasions, most recently in his presser on the flight back to the Vatican from his time at World Youth Day in Krakow. As is often the case during such press events, his remarks were fragmentary and not entirely consistent. A reporter asked Francis about “the barbarous assassination of Fr. Jacques Hamel” in France and noted that the pope had recently insisted that all religions want peace; in fact, Francis had placed the blame on economic inequality: “When I speak of war I speak of wars over interests, money, resources, not religion. All religions want peace, it’s the others who want war.” That is, to put it nicely, nonsense (some commentators were harsher in their assessments). The reporter then asked: “So Holy Father … why do you, when you speak of these violent events, always speak of terrorists, but never of Islam, never use the word Islam?”

The answer given by Francis was painfully shallow and evasive:
