A little from the word and a lot of seculation.
So it is said there is no pain, no tears, only joy.
We will see are family and friends, etc. Or not!
So what happens when some of them have gone the other way?
No sorrow or tears, remember?

God prepares you and makes you strong for that. Now we feel sorrow for them but once you clearly see from heaven, you will hate all the wickedness. We will even come with Him to rule and war with all the enemies of God. When God wipes your tears and gives you His joy, then it’s powerful enough to remove all sorrow. You become His and He becomes yours.

Hello Returntosender, would you like me to speculate ;)

Kidding aside, as the Bible tells us, we do not know/understand everything on this side of the grave .. e.g. Deuteronomy 29:29; 1 Corinthians 13:12, but we walk in faith/assurance that the things that our loving Abba (Heavenly Father) has chosen to reveal to us are exactly what we need to know and/or are capable of understanding at this time.

So, when the Bible tells us that.......

Revelation 21
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.

........we, by faith, believe that this is exactly what will occur (even if we can't 'imagine' how it might be so), knowing, from the foot of the Cross, how VERY much we are loved by Him .. e.g. Romans 5:8-10.

God bless you!

Not a whole heap, is my answer to the directed question. Many have claimed to receive revelation from heaven since Paul, but I don't know if I should believe any of them. Our enemy is the father of lies, if he can deceive us, why wouldn't he take the chance however he can? We are told to be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves. I simply just don't know, and probably won't ever know until I get there for myself. I guess I'll just have to live with that, unless the Lord convicts me otherwise, which He can, for nothing is impossible for Him.

However, as far as you have described, I agree with as it is scripturally based. Where else can we go, eh? I can only imagine what it will be like, but it will remain just my imagination...

Edit: I just reread this and I have realised that I did not respond correctly to the question, which was what happens when some of them have gone the other way. I'm now thinking you are meaning hell?

Well then SOMETHING definitely happens, but again, I don't exactly know what, as there are different beliefs on soul sleep and a waiting period, and what is hell and hades, is it a place of fire and torment, or just torment? We are told in the bible that the devil will be cast into the eternal lake of fire. Is it different from what hell is now, or is a part of it that is momentarily inaccessible?

I don't know, but what I do know is that I don't want to be apart from my Jesus. Outside of the wedding feast in heaven is utter darkness and weeping and gnashing of teeth, as the bible also says. Inside those gates there are no tears, sorrow or pain as we have been reminded throughout this thread. I don't know how He'll work that out, but He's God, so I'm going to trust Him on that

Jesus says,

"if you love those who love you, what reward have you?" in Matthew 5:46.

So what happens when some of them have gone the other way?
No sorrow or tears, remember?
Well, I think if we are with Jesus, we can tell who is living on the way to Heaven, and who isn't.

But I maybe have seen how certain people automatically preach anyone into Heaven. And by doing this wishful stuff, they could be helping people to not get really ready for the day of judgment. So, I think it is wise to examine ourselves and others according to God's word, and with prayer to make sure with God and trust God to have us truly ready.

The Bible just doesn't have that much to say about "heaven", because the Bible isn't really all that interested in heaven. Which is why in the New Testament when it talks about salvation and the future life it talks about the resurrection of the body, not of souls going up to "some place up there".

The most that could be said of "heaven", as a kind of way-station between this mortal life and the future life in the Age to Come is that it is being "present with the Lord". More than that really only gets us into a lot of speculation.

But what is really important is that God is going to bring out of the birth pangs of this old dying world a fresh, new, living one. Even as God raised up Jesus from the dead as the "first fruits" of the resurrection, and that at His return "all who belong to Christ" shall likewise be raised up and transformed; also still God is going to do this for whole of creation.

Paul said he went there in a vision - and saw many things but would not say what he saw -- 2 Cor 12:1-7.

Prophets in more modern times have also been taken to heaven in vision and recorded what they saw -

https://egwwritings-a.akamaihd.net/pdf/en_EW.pdf

That is a book that contains in one chapter - an example of the author taken to heaven in vision and then from there visited some planet in another solar system of who knows what galaxy -

God’s Love for His People[39]
...
There is perfect order and harmony in the Holy City. All the
angels that are commissioned to visit the earth hold a golden card,
which they present to the angels at the gates of the city as they pass
in and out. Heaven is a good place. I long to be there and behold
my lovely Jesus, who gave His life for me, and be changed into His
glorious image. Oh, for language to express the glory of the bright
world to come! I thirst for the living streams that make glad the city
of our God.

The Lord has given me a view of other worlds. Wings were
given me, and an angel attended me from the city to a place that was
bright and glorious. The grass of the place was living green, and
the birds there warbled a sweet song. The inhabitants of the place
were of all sizes; they were noble, majestic, and lovely. They bore
the express image of Jesus, and their countenances beamed with
holy joy, expressive of the freedom and happiness of the place.

I asked one of them why they were so much more lovely than those
on the earth. The reply was, “We have lived in strict obedience to the
commandments of God, and have not fallen by disobedience, like
those on the earth.”

Then I saw two trees, one looked much like the tree of life in the city.
The fruit of both looked beautiful, but of one
they could not eat. They had power to eat of both, but were forbidden
to eat of one. Then my attending angel said to me, “None in this
place have tasted of the forbidden tree; but if they should eat, they
would fall.”

Then I was taken to a world which had seven moons.
There I saw good old Enoch, who had been translated. On his right
arm he bore a glorious palm, and on each leaf was written “Victory.”
Around his head was a dazzling white wreath, and leaves on the
wreath, and in the middle of each leaf was written “Purity,” and
around the wreath were stones of various colors, that shone brighter
than the stars, and cast a reflection upon the letters and magnified
them. On the back part of his head was a bow that confined the
wreath, and upon the bow was written “Holiness.” Above the wreath
was a lovely crown that shone brighter than the sun. I asked him
if this was the place he was taken to from the earth. He said, “It
is not; the city is my home, and I have come to visit this place.”
He moved about the place as if perfectly at home.

I begged of my attending angel to let me remain in that place. I could not bear the
thought of coming back to this dark world again. Then the angel said,
You must go back, and if you are faithful, you, with the 144,000,
shall have the privilege of visiting all the worlds and viewing the
handiwork of God.”

I honestly don't know - specifics anyway. No tears, no sorrow, God with us always, a light to everyone and everything. No sin! NO SIN! Amen.

My question is, what will we be doing in heaven?

However, as far as you have described, I agree with as it is scripturally based. Where else can we go, eh? I can only imagine what it will be like, but it will remain just my imagination...

There is an awful lot we can know from knowing 'the players' that will be there, and from understanding that the reality of the eternal overwhelms, rather than does-away-with, the temporal. Our mortality is 'swallowed up' by life.

Even now, we know that God is our sustenance, so we can know that there, we certainly are nothing in and of ourselves —we will SEE that he is our 'provisions', our sustenance. We will taste and see that the Lord is good. He will be our satisfaction.

Just some short thoughts:

I believe because God is our whole focus there, we will be so active that if he were not our very being, we would die of exhaustion in no time. Yet he is our rest.

God is the ONLY source of new, and is infinitely the source of new. We will never learn all there is to know about him.

This following notion is not for sure, but there is something to it —of that I am sure. I believe the New Jerusalem of Rev 21 "dressed as a bride", IS the Bride of Christ—God's dwelling place. I believe it is us, the members of the Body, that Christ went to prepare for us.

Time will be no more there —at least, not in the way we experience it now— yet we know that every idle word will be known of what we speak now, and that no deed is hidden. It may not even be like a tape of everyone's lives replayed, but we may even see the actual fact of these (at least) 6 thousand years, play out AS THEY HAPPEN. Then we will know God spoke that finished product, the Bride of Christ, into Creation.

Related to that: His Word will not pass away. The Gospel will be our theme of thanks, and our realization of just how far he went for our sakes—realizing the horror of sin and the extent of his sacrifice, his patience, his forebearance for our sakes, will drive our praise.

Another 'not-for-sure' but something to it: What we see here is only representative of what is real there, fatherhood, growth, and many many other things, maybe even everything, even material things such as gold or pearl.

For once, we will know each other as the person God made us into. We will not have a problem with that. We will be one.

And we will be one with him, bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh.

We will never tire of praising him.

So many precious posts.
Thanks you all and God bless.
It makes it easier to realize it won't be important to us not seeing some of our loved ones there. Buffering the hurt while we are here.
Makes me realize why it so important the Mormons believe they can pray their deceased loved ones to heaven.

That could be fun. :)

I always wondered at the immense size of the universe, if we'd all get our own planet or something. Guys like Paul would get a whole galaxy, others just a solar system. No idea at all what to expect.

I just know that's where I want to be - with Him.

Praising God, learning new things, meeting old friends, getting acquainted with the animals and birds and fish there, meeting the prophets of old, and learning from them as they teach us, feasting at God's table, singing with the angels, and exploring God's new Earth and new Heaven.
I think there will be lots of wonderful things for us to do, and an Eternity in which to do them.

Hello Sun, :)

Psalms 149:7-9

....to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute on them the judgment written! This is honor for all His godly ones.

Praise the Lord!
