This picture is from Jack Chick's biography, You Don't Know Jack. He believed he was being given answers from God in prayer. "Well, Jack went into prayer and asked the Lord. And the Lord told him, 'Yes'."
(I don't know where the heck to put the period)

This explains why Jack Chick never, not once, attempted to provide evidence for his conspiracy theories. Why provide evidence when God directly told you the truth?

I don't need to do research because God told me the facts.
I don't need to take medicine because God will cure my illness.
I don't need to plan for retirement because God will let me win the lottery.

Any claim that rests on the unproveable and unverifiable and seemingly unchallengeable is a claim for an epistemic primitive (something before and beyond learning).

This of course was the case with Montanus who understood himself to be the mouthpiece of the Holy Spirit.

Sadly, one observes, that this practice is sometimes observed in religious settings, and clearly runs the risk of cultism and division. It is certainly unacceptable to develop a case academically or such a precept, and sadly we observe that this is what some of our political leaders offer us as it provides the illusion of being unchallengeable.

As Christians we should watch out for such arguments from others lest we be led astray, and in ourselves lest we mislead ourselves.

A.P. I don't want to offend you with what I'm about to say, but I can't help but notice that your posts tend to be of the 'whats wrong with other people' type. While it is normal for us to be upset with the lies we have have been taught after we discover the truth of Orthodoxy, it is dangerous to dwell there. I would encourage you to focus more on the fullness and beauty of Orthodoxy. Being well acquainted with the genuine article is really the best place from which to recognise the counterfeit.

I remember a guy who had a small shop near me with an audio array from cb radios to cell phones that he sold & serviced. I guess he was a sharp guy who probably learned radio communication in the armed forces ( he was in his 60s in the early 2000s). Anyway, he had tons of chick tracts in his shop & I noticed he had outgoing mail of charity contributions to the local Catholic archdiocese. He was a pleasant, mild mannered guy; how he observed his faith seemed interesting to say the least.

All I know is that I saw a lot of these when I was a preteen to young adult in North Carolina.

and those comics terrified me when I was younger (preteen).

Some of them are terrifying. I remember one about a a cat that was especially bad. I have a dear friend who collects them as a hobby.

I've only seen one in the wild once. I think it was mostly boomers who cared for them. Now that the boomers are dying off, Jack Chick's following will go extinct. Steve Anderson essentially replaced Jack Chick. The only difference between Chick and Anderson is that Anderson is anti-Jew. A lot of Anderson's followers are white supremacists, whereas Jack Chick was a Zionist who was a Jewish supremacist.

Jack Chick will live on in the classic movie based on his D&D comic.

I dunno, there might always be some pockets in the college evangelism scene

@Andy Pierce Look what you made me do! You made me curious about Jack Chick and then I get this nonsense of people finding the Bible out of nowhere.

One day they just found the Bible.
It's hilarious he cuts off the part of Luke 22:19 where Jesus says "This is my body." Like Jack Chick was afraid anyone wouldn't share his interpretation.
He must've had these ideas pop into his head while in prayer. No research, no evidence.
