Republicans see the demographic changes. They see the future and they strike out and try to bring fear to enough voters to win elections. I don't see this as a winning strategy even in 2024. Their rhetoric cannot win back enough suburban women or increase the number of rural voters enough to win.

I recall the meeting of Republican leaders that were interested in a change in the party (after the 2nd loss to Obama). I will always recall the 2016 rally with an Indian-American governor and a black senator at the podium in a primary rally to support an Hispanic Republican from a nearby state. Had Christie not done Trump's dirty work by embarrassing Rubio in a debate the week before, the Republican Party might be very, very different today.

Haley will try to resurrect the vision of a big tent conservative Republican Party, but it seems that she will fail. The inmates have taken over, and likely cannot be driven out by 2024.

There is that fear factor again. Interesting everything negative with the Republicans is fear or boogeyman.

Yet is was our current President that told blacks Republicans will put you back in chains.

Trump was elected over Hillary, who was touted as the most qualified candidate in recent history, a life long politician and tactician.

Why?

because people didn't want Hillary as president. Michelle could probably have beaten Trump. Surely Obama would have. After 4 years of Obama, the right was absolutely sure that Obama would be easily defeated because of his horrible policies. It turned out that the people liked Romneycare Part 2.

You underestimate the power of fear mongering.

The vast majority of these groups have been voting Republican since Nixon. The difference is that Trump was much more aligned with their views.

Politically the difference was clear. In 2016, lots of Democrats (primarily blacks and suburban women) stayed home. In 2018 and then again in 2020, these Democrats finally understood the stakes better, and then came out in large numbers. I make few predictions for 2022 and 2024. other than Trump will never be president again, except when when in the present of fellow conspiracists.

It took his direct intervention in the GA Senate runoff elections for the Democrats to eke out a tie in the Senate. After many months, Trump FINALLY convinced enough GA Republicans that their votes didn't matter, do that enough stayed home to elect Warnack. Do you think that this will happen again in 2022?

An error the GOP will not allow to repeat; elections are far too important to leave in the hands of just anyone...

I think the voting laws enacted in Georgia and other states will make Donald's statement true -- votes won't matter.
