Georgia's Secretary of State says more than 100,000 names will be removed from state's voter record

This mass removal, or voter "purge," mainly targeted those who filled out a change of address form (about 67,000) or had election mail returned (about 34,000), the AP reported. Voters can also be purged if they are declared "inactive" meaning they have not participated in an election in a certain number of years.

The purge accounts for 1.3% of the state's 7.8 million registered voters, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported. Eligible voters who are removed can re-register to vote.

Hmm..... They are now getting their records up to date in June of 2021.

That would mean the state fail to keep voter rolls up to date before the 2020 election.

Nope. The voter rolls are purged in years when there no elections. They were done in the previous years. It's in the article.

The number of voters flagged for removal is smaller than previous years. In 2019, the state removed about 290,000 voters, and in 2017 about 670,000.

If they were done just months after a national election - then they are clearly not up to date at the time of the election.

...or they're as up to date as they always are. Which didn't seem to be a problem for people when Trump won in 2016, just when he lost in 2020.

Here is the quote from your OP.

wrongly suggesting that the state failed to keep the voter rolls up to date before the 2020 election and that therefore, he won.
And six months or so later the state brought their voter rolls up to date to the tune of 100,000 people.

Ain’t the truth so inconvenient.

uhmmm...that's what up to date means in this context. But I understand the compulsion Trump has to try and clutch at any straw to try and pretend everything is a conspiracy to thwart him. So it's not surprising he tries to make it sound suspicious that the way they've done it for all these years is an excuse for him to have a second term in office even though he lost the election.

LOL - I'm not the opening thread after thread on the Past President.

I'm just pointing out just yet another error.

I have not mentioned conspiracy - just the fact that the 'fact checker' was obviously wrong. I know that is aggravating, but true still the same.

If he was right - he could not possibly have distorted it. -

Trump was wrong about a few things: From the article in the OP

Trump said Georgia didn’t update its voter rolls prior to the 2020 presidential election and "this means we (you!) won the presidential election in Georgia."

Trump is wrong on both counts. Federal law requires states to establish programs to keep voter rolls up to date. To comply with the law, Georgia and other states routinely handle such removals in non-federal election years. In 2019, the state removed about 290,000 voters. In 2021, the state is on track to remove about 100,000 voters.
He didn't win in Georgia.

@hislegacy,

Yes, as the article fairly clearly states, they spent time 'getting their records up to date' in many previous years and, in fact, this cleanup is less than most cleanups. I just don't get it. Can Trump defenders not actually read? Further, whether they did or didn't ever cleanup their voting records, doesn't actually have any bearing on whether or not anyone of those that were eligible to be removed ever voted in a Georgia election. Many are dead, so they obviously didn't vote. Most moved out of the state and I'd honestly find it pretty fanciful that someone who moved out of the state would make some effort of go back to Georgia just to vote. However, if any evidence ever comes up that some people did, then it will be found out.

While I'm sure that you won't agree, the fact that the former guy continues to hammer to all of his supporters that issues such as this made any difference in the outcome of the truth of the election results, just shows how simplistic and, quite frankly, unkwowlegeable in the actual mechanics of voting, his followers are.

God bless,
Ted

@hislegacy

Is there any chance you would point out some of the inaccuracies in the article...or would that be too onerous a task? I'd even ask for any evidence that your claim 'the article in the OP is not accurate' has been 'already demonstrated a number of times'. Reading through these posts, I don't see any such demonstration in a single post. Including yours.

God bless,
Ted
