1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those
of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

The Lord Christ Jesus taught His disciples a standard for excellence
for those walking in the faith.

Matthew 5:
46
For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?
Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more?
Do not even the tax collectors do so?
48 Therefore you shall be perfect,
just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

First, notice that the Lord, even as the apostle often did, and even
David in the Psalms; speaks of a reward for the righteous.
Secondly, He is clear in saying that you are no better than an
unbeliever if all you do is extend grace to other believers.
Is it any surprise that Paul would say that if you do less than
what is considered a societal norm, much less a godly manner,
that person is worse than an unbeliever?

I've seen and reminded of another kind of those that are even worse than unbelievers. These are evil and demonic in that they are actually wolves clothed in sheep that pretend to be doing good to their own household but are actually snakes stealing and killing their own to serve and benefit the worldly and synagogues of satan.

@GospelS, the truth is friend none of is good.

Many people will compare themselves to others, suggesting they are not worse than this person because of whatever they do not do which the other does.

Romans
10 as it is written:

“None is righteous, no, not one;
11 no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”

~~~~~~~~
The reason and need for Christ Jesus in this life; is to have access to the holy spirit and our Father in heaven ; being born again in belief on the truth of the Gospel of Christ ; about his life; burial and resurrection.
All of us are on the scale of never amounting to what Christ did, and He is the only one who is able to make the light shine from with-in and change a person from having spiritual darkness, or being spiritually dead.
I agree none is good. We are humans or at least we try to be human. But then there are some that are intentionally evil and demonic. Think of a man who professes to be a believer but literally kills his own child or wife and drinks their blood and flesh like an animal?
I understand Gospels.
There are some people who are indwelling darkness and need help being set free. It is horrible though. All I know is that from my view I just desire to give and learn about truth of what God has to say. I believe those who do thinks like this even to abusing children in anyway will be found out ending up in prison, or they will end up being found dead.
I know that the horrors of the world are massive especially when it comes down to people murdering, being hateful, greedy and all of these things; if we ever hated someone we have murdered according to the bible. Did you know that ?
1 John 3:15
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. Strong's Greek: 3404. μισέω (miseó) -- to hate
1 John 3:17
But whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God remain in him?
Acts 4:34
For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales 35 and lay them at the apostles’ feet, and they would be distributed to each to the extent that any had need...
Clearly it is God's will for the needy believers to be supported not judged.
Yes, even unbelievers are known to show generosity to others in need. A believer who
closes his heart to such is worse than an unbeliever by these standards given.
Believers are held to a higher standard, not a lower one, I would agree with this.
Luke 12:46 "The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not anticipate. Then he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers. 47 That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows. 48 But the one who unknowingly does things worthy of punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded" ~Jesus
I also believe they are expected to pray and confess and repent and change course, like a man on a lifetime journey checks his compass and adjusts his course when he finds he has deviated. He did not make the compass, but he knows it is True. He did not know where to head, but he was told by the person who gave him the compass
"there - THAT way. This is where I came from, this is where I am heading back to. Now - come follow Me. I have paid the price to grant your amnesty, for I am the Son of the King. Pass through this country as our servant and when you get to our Kingdom, I will welcome you as Friend".
He either believes the man who gave it to him or he doesn't. He either wants to head where the man came from, or he doesn't. He either checks the compass and corrects his direction, or he doesn't. He either arrives and is welcomed as friend and faithful servant, or he doesn't.
We've been given the Compass (the Holy Spirit),
the map (the Bible),
and we know the Christ who gave these to us was faithful and True
by His resurrection
the son of the Father, the King, God Almighty
died for us and for our salvation to give us these things
that we might pass through the Kingdom of Earth as servants
and enter the Kingdom of Heaven as friends and adopted sons and daughters
Something we could never do on our own
And something we were never worthy of having in the first place
As we move to our destination...
Are we checking them?....
Romans 2:24 As it is written: God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
I'm not sure what they are expecting to hear from Him, but I don't think it's going to be "Thank you".
Excellent thoughts you have offered up. Jewels in His crown! (Malachi 3:16-18)
This is our covenant, the sure mercies of David.
Acts 13:34/Isaiah 55:3
3
Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live;
And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—The sure mercies of David
34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption,
He has spoken thus:
I will give you the sure mercies of David.
Hebrews 12:
3
For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you
become weary and discouraged in your souls.
4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.
5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:
My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.
7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there
whom a father does not chasten?
8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you
are illegitimate and not sons.
9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect.
Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?
10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them,
but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.
11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless,
afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
2 Samuel 7:
12
When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed
after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity,
I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.
15 But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I
removed from before you.
16 And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you.
Your throne shall be established forever.
2 Peter 2:
20
For if, after they have escaped the pollution of the world through the knowledge
of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome,
the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.
21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness,
than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.
22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: A dog returns to his own vomit,
and, a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.
the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.
44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’
On its return, it finds the house vacant,
swept clean, and put in order.
45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more
wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there;
and the final plight of that man is worse than the first.
