Exclusive: Cops outed as racists or extremists are still on the job or were rehired, ADL says
(Alternate Link)
At least 73 law enforcement officers have been outed in the past decade for being members of white supremacist, anti-government and other extremist groups, or showing support for them, a new report from the Anti-Defamation League's Center on Extremism concludes.

At least 40% of those officers were allowed to remain on duty, the league found. And while 42% left their positions through dismissal, early or forced retirement, and voluntary or forced resignations, at least three people went on to be hired by other law enforcement agencies, the report states.

The report builds on findings from the Plain View Project and Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting, which identified hundreds of law enforcement officers who posted racist, Islamophobic, anti-immigrant and misogynist content on Facebook. It focuses on officers who were outed as active supporters of specific extremist groups, rather than those who expressed racist or offensive views.

Can't wait to see who comes to their defense. "That was a personal feeling, it didn't affect his job. Who are they the thought police." (See what I did there "police"

Apparently the ADL thinks they should get to decide who does and does not work for local police departments…

Some of us aren't exactly comfortable with members of violent Neo-Nazi groups having authority to shoot people in our neighborhoods. Go figure.

Agreed.

73 in a decade? That 7.3 extremists a year...and some of those are racists.

Now we just have to get them out of teaching. Probably at least 7.3 of them per school board....anti-government racial extremists.

If all whites are racist (systematic racism), then no white (male or female) is cut out for policing.
If you had a system that had disproportionate rates for a subset of the population along racial lines then that system is racist.

That’s exactly what we see in the “criminal justice system”, specifically Black Americans having an increased risk of having encounters with the system.

That’s systemic racism.

It has nothing to do with people committing crimes in order to get involved in the "criminal justice system"?

That’s systemic racism.

Men similarly have an increased risk over women. So do younger people over older people. Few people call that systemic sexism or ageism.
