I agree that Biden is in cognitive decline. He's clearly not as sharp as he was previously. To me, that's fairly obvious.

It's also fairly obvious that, by and large, he's aware of his surrounding, what's going on, and can formulate basic coherent thought. He likely relies a lot on his advisors (which is a good thing). It's disappointing that this was the best the Democrats had to offer, but it is what it is.

That being said, it was also clear that Trump was (and is) in cognitive decline. While his verbal gaffes may have been less frequent, the things he said were often out of touch with reality. Couple that with the extremely numerous written gaffes that he put forth daily via Twitter, and overall, despite Biden's gaffes, Trump's mental state appears to me worse than Biden's, in terms of who i'd want as President (honestly, i want neither of them, but when those are your choices, i'd choose Biden in a heartbeat).

Let’s hope he can match Mr Trump and name seven things he is shown.
The doctors were amazed! They said no one has ever done it so well! Even after an interval where they discussed other things.

This isn't a yearly physical. But by the way, I'm sure we'd all be interested if you revealed to us what last year's Biden physical revealed about cognitive ability and the rest. It would put a lot of speculation to rest.
You mean the results of his medical exam done by Kevin O’Connor, DO, associate professor of Medicine at George Washington University, and released on Oct 28, 2020?

Has President Biden suggested injecting bleach as a cure for covid yet? How can I vote if I don't know the answer?

The man is promoting "clean" energy, when every rational person knows you can get cancer from windmills... clearly something is not right here...

I guess it's possible, since cognitive decline does happen among old people, but the accusations tend to be very partisan. Exactly the same happened with Trump, except that it was liberals making accusations then.

However, Trump talks off the cuff, uses a lot of colloquialisms, and sometimes exaggerates (as almost all of us do in ordinary speech when we say things like "everybody knows....").

Biden, however, often lapses into gibberish, or has to take long pauses in the middle of a speech in order to recapture his train of thought, forgets where he is at the moment, and avoids or refuses to talk to reporters, etc. without a script. AND he was NOT this way only a few years ago.

No, the two situations are not at all the same.

This is true -- Donald had some whimsical gaffes in his mercifully short political career: "windmill cancer" and "injecting disinfectant" being his more memorable ones...

...of course, his followers couldn't admit they were gaffes, so they had to continually cover for him with convoluted "well, he said that, but he meant...." stories, which fed into the "cognitive decline" mythos. Because after all,if he "meant" x, why didn't he just say x?

Now Biden, OTOH, has never been that great a speaker, and has had gaffes-a-plenty throughout his far longer political career. Whether it's due to age, his speech impediment, or just plain not being good in front of a microphone, who can say? More than likely a combination of all three.

Given that Trump exhibited far more evidence of mental impairment and mental illness, as cited by numerous experts, I consider these attacks on Biden by the usual partisan shills to be truly vile.

Is this to do with the way he stammers?

Biden grew up with a speech impediment, which isn't a sign of cognitive decline. He's had it his whole life. Not being the greatest orator isn't a horrible fault in a public leader.

then what is the issue?

Going over this thread, it looks like the "issue" is getting around the rule that saying or implying a public figure isn't entirely mentally stable constitutes flaming. #somepeoplesay

Point of this discussion:
Other countries are questioning the cognitive capability of the president. People in this country are questioning it as well. And given the mounting evidence, such questions are imho, quite reasonable to pose.
Do you agree the leader of the free world is in cognitive decline?
--- and to clarify, cognitive decline such that it is having, or could have, serious ramifications for him, his party, this country, even perhaps the world - being in the position he is in.

If you agree, what are those possible ramifications? How serious (or not) might they be?

If you disagree, why? E.g. Just political theater? No proof? Purely opinion/partisanship?

From Sky News Australia:

From the American Thinker:
https://www.americanthinker.com/blo..._capacity_is_diminishing_before_our_eyes.html

From the Washington Times:
It’s time to question Biden’s mental health

And let's be clear - this is a serious topic, it's not an open door to merely bash the president cuz you don't like him or his politics.

Even if he were brain dead he would be a step up compared to his predecessor, IMO.

Not to worry! The news just broke in the mainstream media that Biden has given in and agreed to have a medical examination and to release the results to the public.

Whether this was always the plan of the Democratic leadership to let him remain in office just long enough to make it look real before stepping aside and letting Kamala become president, or if Biden's people have decided that the widespread opinion of the American people that he now has a diminished mental capacity and so is unable to govern coherently has forced their hand, it's not clear at this time.

You're reading too much into this. Try not to let your mind wander to incredible conspiracy theories.

No, I don't want a "President Harris." Neither do I want an individual who behaves as Biden does in all those gaffes running the country. Frankly, it scares the living tar out of me, having someone like that at the helm of the most powerful office in the world, someone who is CLEARLY struggling cognitively.

This isn't political now, this is serious stuff. You think Putin or Xi Jinping or other world leaders aren't taking notice of this?

Were you worried about Trump, too, like so many others?

I think Biden is an interesting president. I say that, because he's literally the opposite of Trump, in that he does what those around him suggest, rather than running the show and firing those who get in the way.

...Polar opposites.

Another example of Biden's willingness to put the opinions of others over his own (e.g.):
"Israel has said it will press on for now with its attacks against Hamas, the militant group that rules Gaza, and the United States signaled it would not pressure the two sides for a cease-fire even as President Joe Biden said he supported one."

Israel strikes Gaza tunnels as truce efforts remain elusive
