Recounts where they don't make sense is a bad strategy. The Republicans were right to deride the Democrats who refused to accept the results of the 2000, 2004, and 2016 elections, it is asinine to sink to their level without even a sympathetic media to soften the impact.

There was one recount in Florida when Bush won. There were punch out ballots, some of the chads were hanging, not fully detached and it made counting difficult.

The Trump people counted Georgia three times. Trump was telling people he won the election. His people counted three times and could not confirm his lie.

As usual neither side is fair, nor can they please everyone. Biden is not quite as good as some had hoped.

1) Apparently this is the 4th time the same 2.1 million ballots are being counted - Republicans are firm believers that they can repeat this process over and over again until they obtain the predetermined outcome - then they can declare themselves the winner, leaving nobody can challenge them, because the ballots now have been "compromised!

2) The private company, "Cyber Ninjas," has never conducted an election audit, but the owner, being a loyal Trump supporter, is already on the public record that the election was stolen!

3) Trump’s own Attorney General, FBI Director and Department of Homeland Security have already declared that there was no significant irregularities and “declared the 2020 election the most secure in history” - apparently Trump and his supporters have access to secret information that wasn't produced during their 50 failed legal challenges!

4) Arizona's Republican Governor has already signed-off on the election results which were received and certified by Congress on January 6th - Arizona's state senators that initiated this "private audit" were well aware that it has no legal standing and they have no authority to overturn the election results!

5) Given all there twists and turns, what could possibly go wrong!

Amazing that this fly-by-night "company" is being used instead of a reputable auditor like KPMG or Deloitte.

Based on your #4, if the election can't be overturned as a result of this recount, then it's purely theater and creation of new fodder and new lies to feed the conspiracies that are out there. There will be new claims by this Cyber Ninja company and all the Trump supporters working in this recount (which is a ton of them as I saw on CNN tonight) and the claims won't be backed except by invalid "evidence" such as affidavits and the like (again) yet it will serve their political agenda to keep their base irrationally riled up.

Unbelievable.

Worse than that, he discouraged Republican voters from voting in the Georgia runoff because he was too focused on his hissy fit with these same people, giving the Senate to the Democrats.

I suspected he was a left-wing plant as soon as he announced his run in 2015. I figured he'd sabotage and betray the Republican party with more liberal judicial appointments, or turning his back on his campaign promises at some point during his term. I did not expect his post-2020 election shenanigans, but if sabotaging the Republican party was his goal all along, I cannot think of a better way to have done it in retrospect.

You misjudge the left wing -- they're not desperate enough to use Donald as a Manchurian Candidate.

He himself is the architect of his own shenanigans.

Arizona GOP State Senator Now Regrets Recount: 'It Makes Us Look Like Idiots' | HuffPost

While there are still way too many who are sticking to the Trump narrative it's good to see the occasional admission from some of the more realistic Republicans.

This is amazing:
Cyber Ninjas workers have also been using ultraviolet light to examine ballots in an effort to detect traces of bamboo that organizers are convinced would reveal interference by China.

Now the state Senate and Cyber Ninjas are seeking access to county government routers and passwords as part of the audit. It’s a strategy Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone has called “mindlessly reckless” because it would threaten the security of sensitive law enforcement work. It would also risk exposing private citizens’ data to a private company with a partisan agenda.

Nah, they'll do anything they think they can get away with to ram their agenda through, and he gave them everything they needed to do it. It's not out of character for them at all, though many rank and file voters aren't strategic enough; but that doesn't mean they aren't following someone who is.

Trump on the other hand could equally just be that much of a big baby who doesn't care what he breaks when his ego gets hurt.

But where are they going to find someone willing to make that much of a colossal clown of himself to do it?

Besides -- Everyone said Hillary Clinton was going to win 2016. Why go through such a convoluted strategy when the simpler solution is to just win?

Trump on the other hand could equally just be that much of a big baby who doesn't care what he breaks when his ego gets hurt.

Well, as long as you're at least entertaining the possibility that Donald is responsible for his own actions, and has nobody to blame but himself, that counts for something.

Can someone please explain to me the black-light looking for bamboo? Because I suspect most of those papers have OBA's (Optical Brightening Agents) in them which fluoresce quite strongly under black light. Even the Chinese know about the magic of OBA's. They are used across the paper industry and China has a huge paper industry. I wish someone would explain to me how the UV lights are going to find bamboo and if so what would it matter?

Also: there actually are real honest science methods to figure out what fibers are in paper that require a bit more than just looking at it with a UV light. There's actually professionals who do this for a living. They do it because sometimes paper manufacturers use non-sustainable forestry sources that are barred by international agreement. And China would be just as likely to use forestry sources elsewhere in SE Asia since they are not a huge forest supplier themselves, if I recall correctly. Many Chinese paper manufacturers work with wood from far afield of China.

The left-wing media and the people they like to consult misjudged Trump as someone who would surely lose the election. Sure, he was an obnoxious clown, but that was good for ratings, and he had an established record of being much further left than Republicans on key policies, including policies he ran on. The left-wing media has a pattern of promoting the most liberal Republicans in the primaries, he qualified. They also like stories and scandals, he had plenty of them. They had not counted on his irrational appeal with his base, or how unlikeable Clinton really was.

Well, as long as you're at least entertaining the possibility that Donald is responsible for his own actions, and has nobody to blame but himself, that counts for something.
Oh, I definitely believe that, whichever reason for his intentional harm to the Republican party, and therefore the country, is true.

It's a sad state for our nation to be in that someone pretty much everyone agrees was a clown would be the guy to become President. It's at least comforting that he never won a majority of the vote, but was able to win due to the strange wrinkle that is the American Electoral College coupled with sharp GOP gerrymandering.

He mainly one the primaries due to his campaign's effective divide-and-conquer strategy. If there had been a runoff in every state, he would not have won the nomination.
