India has the best fruits. An ex of mine used to visit family over there once or twice a year and would come back with a lb of chikoo, a box of mango - proper mango, not the insipid soapy things we have in the UK, and red bananas. Plus a few other favourites.
Honestly, if I lived in India I'm sure I'd become a fruitarian. I rarely eat fruit here because the quality of it is SO poor.
Even in the States there's a noticeable difference between an American grape and a British grape. British grapes lack that certain sweetness and aroma that an American grape has.
I think our climate is just not optimal for fruit growth. Don't get me wrong, we do a lot of things very well, but fruit isn't one of them. Personally, I think we're a beer brewing country.
I certainly wouldn't make the trip over here for our food. That's why I eat out in Chinatown or order a biryani if I'm not cooking for myself.
