For many, many years, I have said that Christians should have nothing to do with DISNEY....

  • DISNEY is in the business of making SIN appear ATTRACTIVE & GOOD.

  • DISNEY is in the business of taking things that God has given us to remind us of His promises to us, (such as the RAINBOW) and turning them into SYMBOLS of SIN.

  • DISNEY is built on FANTASY, not REALITY. The Christians FOCUS should be on REALITY. Teaching children to escape into the FANTASY world does not give them the tools they need to cope with the trials of life..it actually makes it easier for them to slide into drugs and alcohol to try to ESCAPE from REALITY.

  • DISNEY is BENT on destroying the FAMILY.

  • The less Christians have to do with DISNEY, they easier they will find it to be "separate from the world."

  • There is nothing "CHRISTIAN" about DISNEY, in fact it's very ANTI-CHRISTIAN and those who are serious about serving Christ will cut all ties with it.

Well, Disney's main theme song is "When you wish upon a star", whose motto is summed up as "Anything your heart desires will come to you." It basically glorifies passion, self-deterministic and often self-aggrandizing fulfillments, which stands against the Bible's teachings of self-denial.

I think this is a common trend in much of modern media, actually (and maybe not so modern ones); not just Disney. And some of the points you mention, such as using rainbow as a symbol of sin (LGBTQ "Pride"), are used by other movements not directly affiliated to Disney.

And I don't really agree with your point on fantasy, but I suppose that's for another discussion.

Back when Walt Disney himself was still in charge of the company, the focus was on G-rated movies and cartoons, basically aimed at small children. But Walt died in 1966, and the company fell into the hands of people like Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Harvey Weinstein, whose focus was not G-rated entertainment for small children, but on acquiring obscene amounts of money. They tried to turn Disney into the same type of monolithic, rapacious, and sordidly-amoral enterprise that most Hollywood studios are, which is where most of those guys came from. It got so bad that in 2003, Roy Disney---Walt Disney's nephew---resigned as vice-chairman of the company out of revulsion at what the company was turning into. Unfortunately, the stamp that such men have left on the Disney enterprise continues to be fairly strong.

I think Walt Disney was well aware of the direction Disney was taking, which can be seen even in his earliest cartoons. The "When you wish upon a star..." song was from Pinnochio. Take a closer look at this animated movie and you will see parallels between its story and the Bible, but it's skewed towards hope in magic.
  • Geppetto, the creator of a wooden puppet boy.
  • Geppetto (Jonah) goes to find Pinnochio but is swallowed by Monstro, the giant whale.
  • The character Jiminy Cricket (J.C. aka Jesus Christ) was tasked by the Blue Fairy to be Pinnochio's conscience.
  • Pleasure Island (the world), served as a temptation, offering every sin that would appeal to Pinnochio.
  • Pinnochio befriends Lampwick (Lucifer), a delinquent boy.
  • The Blue Fairy was the only one that had the power to bring Pinnochio back to life (resurrection) and make him a real boy (transfiguration) and also to give Jiminy a solid gold badge certifying him as an "official conscience". This putting magic above all of them, even the Jesus character, which was Jiminy.
I haven't sat down and tried to make total sense of it all, but this story alone should rings some warning bells that something isn't quite right with Disney. Most of their classics are based in some sort of magic. Magic is the central theme for all things Disney.

The story of Pinnochio seems to have some underlying esotericism, possibly pointing to a secret society. Club 33 is another example.

Disney's ownership of the Star Wars franchise (based heavily in magic; the force) has given it a perfect "relevant" vehicle to further its magic message.

What in the world are you all ranting about? I'm not following what "direction" Disney is supposed to be "taking" at all, unless this is supposed to be a reference to that laughably pathetic oped recently about the sixty year old man whining about "muh immersion".

A business when it protects its bottom line by doing something Christians like: "The glorious 'invisible hand of the free market' at work!"

A business when it protects its bottom line by appealing to people who aren't offended by every little thing: "Disney is anti-Christianity! This is an outrage and I'll never spend my money in Orlando ever again!".

{snip} When it comes to placing their unwavering support behind a former President who fails to see the need for God's forgiveness from sin - their silence is deafening!

Well said. I'm not listening to the tirades against Disney either. I don't see any point in listening to these lectures on morality. The complaints are empty words, IMHO, considering the last 5 years of listening to Trump's supporters repeatedly defend his overtly unchristian and controversial behavior.

Donald Trump has been blaming everyone except himself for everything he does wrong since he was able to talk. He always goes out of his way to make himself worse, not better. One CNN fact checker said after a debate last year Trump "lies like Pinocchio." Nothing could be closer to the truth.

Yup, the 'liberals' might have introduced 'moral relativism' but it took the 'conservatives' to put rockets on it.

Do you promoting hate and violence like this or praising violence like this or perhaps both? Disney supposedly promoting hatred and violence or even promoting "symbols of sin" doesn't even pale in comparison to what we witnessed coming straight from the man who formerly occupied the WH.

Morality obviously does not exist in the minds of people who only care about supporting an antichrist man to be their leader instead of whoever is most qualified and able to do the job.
