Christ is Risen (Orthodox Easter is today)!

I'm looking at a RecTec 380 Bullseye for a starter grill / smoker. It has been years since I was able to have a grill as we could not have them in our apartment. I've never smoked anything in my life. So looking for something for a beginner. Any other recommendations? I just need something small just for 3-5 people.

We have a Traeger smoker. It’s a pellet smoker and is far easier to use than wood smokers. You can grill on it, but it won’t sear.

They have various sizes.

Thanks! I looked at Traeger as well. I'll probably start with grilling and then learn how to smoke. Which Traeger do you have?

Nice, if I only had $1200 to drop! The one I'm looking at is $400. I just walked outside and I think my next door neighbor has this out there in his driveway smoking ribs! :)
Yeah, we definitely splurge on it. But we have a big family. We started in the $400 range, and kept going up. :)

I use a medium-sized Big Green Egg for both grilling and smoking (almost daily). I have owned it for 17 years and highly recommend it (although it's not cheap!). It's a kamado-style device; you can use charcoal and/or wood. It's easy to get to 600+ degrees or keep at 200+ degrees for hours, depending on your preference. Steaks, chicken, ribs, brisket, etc. are all excellent. The current price for a medium size is about $700.
