Good. And yes, Biden is acting to defend our nation by leaving the money where it was originally allocated in the Pentagon. Trump was stealing money from the Defense Department to fund his border wall.

Mind you, I have nothing against Trump's plan to build a border wall, paid by Mexico. I don't think that plan is going anywhere, but if it was going somewhere, I'd be fine with that.

I thought that the purpose of the Pentagon was to defend our borders.

My bad.

You want to put the US military in charge of building and guarding the border wall?

The military is more than capable of repelling any attack by Mexico across the border, wall or no wall. Illegal immigrants are not considered enemy combatants.

Using the military budget to enforce civil law is contraindicated in a functional society, and illegal in our government.

Meh... The wall was just a half hearted attempt at keeping his base happy, imo. We could have modeled our wall system after successful border walls of the past like the great wall of China or Hadrian's wall, but instead we opted for steel and concrete bars you can cut through with tools from Home Depot. Kind of a waste of 11 billion, honestly.

I wasn't talking about enforcing civil law. I was talking about defending our borders.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexico has deployed almost 15,000 soldiers and National Guard in the north of the country to stem the flow of illegal immigration across the border into the United States, the head of the Mexican Army said on Monday.

Mexico says it has deployed 15,000 forces in the north to halt U.S.-bound migration

Are you suggesting that Mexico isn't a functional society?

I support something more in line with the Great Wall of China.

I think, as part of their retribution for their crimes, that the illegal immigrants should be building it.

Biden cancels all Pentagon money used for Trump's Mexico border wall

said Jamal Brown, deputy Pentagon spokesman. “Today’s actions reflect this administration’s continued commitment to defending our nation"

When Biden wanted to "protect" the capitol building - he put a fence around it with armed guards. That is what he does "in real life" when he wants to protect something - EVEN if "that something" has seen zero border crossing since Jan 6.

That's very brutal...

Just so you are aware, the great wall of china is also the largest cemetary on earth. The labor was forced, and when people were literally worked to death, they would just build around their dead body.

I'm more in favor of a high tech approach with money spent on an intermittent garrison and earth works. No sense in wasting money on physical structures that cost time and money to repair and maintain.

Honestly, nothing about Trump's wall was thoughtful in the least. We even gave away tons of American land just to make the line "straight." o_O

Good thing no islamic terrorists (who have declared war on America) view that wide-open gaping whole in our boarder as some sort of "opportunity" that might affect our national security - now that a new political party is in charge of the White House - we should have thought of this before.

How amazing "we were suddenly clear minded" enough to string up a fence around the Capitol and flood it with armed guards . when ... "politicians" where "at risk for one day on Jan 6". So much so that we then left them all there "protecting" while zero illegal crossings were going on at an out of control raging pace "just to be safe" - knowing all the while "fences don't work and the money should be sent to the Pentagon".

Compensating the victim of a crime is brutal?

Forcing people in desperate situations who are trying to get a better life for themselves and their family into forced labor is brutal, and kind of inconscionable, honestly.

So you believe that thieves shouldn't have to repay their victims? My Elohim says differently. He is a just Elohim.

I'm interested how you inferred that from my post...

As far as I'm aware, forced labor such as chain gangs have largely been abolished in the US minus a few exception. There's a good reason for this - it's brutal, and it's ineffective.

Rather than treating people like criminals who need to be punished, we should stop ignoring the fact that we share a special relationship with our neighbors to the south. That's not going to change, no matter how big of a wall we build.

Offer better paths to citizenship; ones that make the risk of crossing the border look less appealing than just going through the proper channels. Otherwise, just expect more of the same, IMO.

Sentenced inmates are required to work if they are medically able. Institution work assignments include employment in areas like food service or the warehouse, or work as an inmate orderly, plumber, painter, or groundskeeper. Inmates earn 12¢ to 40¢ per hour for these work assignments.

Well, that's nice. Doesn't really have much to do with what we were discussing, though, which was forced hard labor of building a great wall of china sized wall. o_O

It has everything to do with what we were discussing; and it simultaneously refutes your claims. Groundskeeping is hard labor; so that one was refuted before you even responded.
