India reported a global one-day record of more than 314,000 new infections Thursday as a coronavirus surge in the world’s second-most populous country overwhelms a fragile health care system critically short of hospital beds and oxygen.

A month ago India was reporting fewer new cases in a week than it is now reporting in a day.

The world's most vulnerable are suffering the most....the sheer size of India's densely populated cities and their fragile health system is a formula for a disaster. Meanwhile, there are signs in our country that we are already hitting the vaccine hesitancy wall with numerous rural counties refusing further deliveries from the feds as they are overstocked due to lack of vaccine demand.

Can't help but wonder if there's an inverse graph of flu cases.

And this will more than likely generate a few new variants of Covid.

If the whole world had gone into strict lockdown for two months a year ago, then we would have been done with this. As it is, many countries refused to do strict lockdown, some refused to acknoledge the pandemic, those caused 10's of millions of cases to occur and some mutated.
It's not just a local problem.

A country like India with over a billion people, gives a very large chance of mutations to happen.
All countries should be helping each other out to get on top of this.
