This is something I find quite hard. We are called to be the light of the world. We are called a city on a hill. We are the salt of the earth. We are the body of Christ. We are meant to reflect Christ with unveiled faces.
How do you make this a reality in your general social interactions? Do you find that worldly people notice Christ in you?

Yes. It has to be the work of the Holy Spirit. Our duty is to believe and obey and be set apart holy unto the Lord so He can flow and impact others through the fruits and the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us.

I have never had anyone recognize "Christ In me", other than the fact that I don't swear, and I live morally. No one has asked me about Christ based upon my lifestyle. Most of my God interactions are intentional, doing things to reach out, sharing my faith with people, or distributing bibles, or bible tracts.

It is important to pray fervently, but it will not make you a glowing light that people "come to", we need to reach out.

I'm not sure that I agree. We should be spiritually radiant. Living icons to borrow an idea from Orthodoxy.Perhaps this is just for saints however...

I do know of a story of a young Christan girl, who when she would walk into a room, peace would come with her.

And stories of famous evangelists who prayed the presence of God down around them, and people would get convicted of their sins in their pressence.

I am not saying it can't happen. But don't rely upon it as an evangelism tool, the majority of evangelism is knowing God's word, the bible, and sharing it with others. However, the delivery method differs, in a workplace we may take things a little slower, and ask questions regarding people's faith, to get to know their spiritual level, etc.

Of course yes. Even Christ himself preached and employed sermons, as did the disciples and apostles.

I guess it comes down to a few things:

a) Live the Word, cleanse yourself of known sin:

2Ti 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

b) God will reveal himself to you, in the Word, and through the miraculous

Joh 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

c) We share what we have seen of God, His word and works

Jesus said: Joh 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father

Hello @Eftsoon, that is an excellent question  One verse that comes to mind is this one.

2 Timothy 3
12 All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

Looking at the context surrounding v12 is helpful, but my point is that you are off to a good start if a life of godliness in Christ is your heart's true desire/what you are pursuing in every moment of your life (because people will notice that you are "different", that you approach life, and others, differently than they do .. and Satan will take note as well ).

As for the persecution part, it's actually a good thing (as weird as that may sound, and as long as we are being persecuted unjustly, of course), because it helps us know that we are living for God/walking in His will (instead of living for ourselves and/or for the enemy) when others are taking note of that fact :)

As far as practical ways to live a godly life, I believe that, first and foremost, we must learn to "practice the presence of God" in our lives (live every moment of our lives with Him and for Him). Also, our growth in obedience to commandments, like the ones that you see below, are both the key to practicing His presence in our daily lives, and then also the sign that we are doing so.

1 Thessalonians 5
16 Rejoice always;
17 pray without ceasing;
18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

None of this is possible apart from an ever-increasing knowledge and understanding of God and of His word, because the word of God is the principle means that God uses in our sanctification (our growth in Christlikeness .. e.g. John 17:17), the principle means by which we renew our minds and come to know and abide in His will for us in our day to day lives .. e.g. Romans 12:2; 2 Timothy 3:16-17 cf Psalm 1:1-3, 119:9-11, 105.

God bless you!

--David
p.s. - here's a quote that I try to remember that may be of practical value to you as well, because ~it's hard to avoid making Christ manifest in your life when you are trusting Him with your life~, yes :)

Sinclair B. Ferguson - Be Obedient....jpg

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your
own understanding.
In 'all' your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight."

Proverbs 3:5-6

How do you make this a reality in your general social interactions? Do you find that worldly people notice Christ in you?

I think in general, just through conversation and general interactions it's noticeable when we live for God and not the world.

Mainly because we can't often talk about the same things, we can't talk about the latest movies and shows nor the latest music etc.

I think people can recognize that Light without having to say "hey, I'm Christian"...

As far as noticing whether others notice, yes, they do. They change their behavior in your presence most generally.

Hello again @Eftsoon, one last thought about some of what I said in my last post is that we act and speak out of the abundance of our hearts/from that which fills our hearts and minds, so making Him manifest in our lives should never be a problem for us when our hearts and minds are filled by Him/with His word .. e.g. Luke 6:45 cf Psalms 37:4; Matthew 6:33.

--David

Luke 6
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

I just try to be kind to people, serve people, work hard, and be gracious and gentle in what I say. This is a humongous challenge, and I often fail, or think that I’m doing better than I am. It’s hard.

What I don’t do anymore is assume that I have to be vocally witnessing or preaching continually. I came to Christ in an environment which valued and praised personal evangelism in public, and this, imho, put a lot of pressure on folks to squeeze Christ into every single conversation, or berate or argue with people in the name of Christ, for their own good. All the time.

I don’t do this anymore, and don’t find it healthy. I think some folks *are* gifted speakers and have a knack for evangelism. The rest of us can be quieter witnesses, and sometimes, when we have the chance, share Him.

By loving my neighbor as myself. S/he is made in the image of God.
Hey brother, that actually sounds very profound  The problem for me is, I'm not sure that I understand your meaning :sorry: (that by loving my neighbor as myself .. he/she is thereby made in the image of God).

So, if you wouldn't mind, please elaborate a bit.

Thanks :)

The Lord is faithful. He is faithful to provide what we need at any moment. Have faith and trust Him. And then, hop in the backseat and let Him drive. Yes they can not help but notice.

What a great question! That is what Scripture says as we should be different than worldly people. Jesus tells us that we should be in the world but not of the world. So be a light! Stay true to who you are! When we exemplify the gifts of the Spirit, people notice and are often moved by it. I do not hesitate to mention God in my interactions. I do not come on strongly, but I am gentle yet firm in my convictions. People are often curious about the joy that comes from inside when you have faith; it comes across in how you react and handle situations. It comes across in the decisions we make, in the values that are an integral part of who we are and how that translates into our interactions with others. So unveil your face and be proud of it! Share your joy with everyone around you! We need light, we need salt, we need to be a city on a hill! God bless you and keep you.
