At one point I was into flat earth. I absorbed everything I could about it. After the fanaticism settled down, I came to some conclusions.
  • We can't say for sure whether the language of the Bible actually supports a flat earth. We can make reasonable assumptions, but that's all they are.
  • While the evidence for flat earth is very compelling, we will never be able to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt.
  • The problem with flat earth is that it supersedes Christianity. While believers profess Christ, their main focus is flat earth and using scripture to back it. It becomes idolatry. Yes, flat earth brings people to God and strengthens faith, but it is the primary focus of believers, to the point of obsession.
  • I see flat earth as a Trojan horse. Once a person believes, it opens up a whole can of worms of conspiracy theory centered around deception of the masses.
  • Does it really matter if the earth is flat? No. Whether the earth is flat or not should not be the foundation of my Christian faith.
  • Does it really matter if there is a vast conspiracy? No. Satan deceives the whole world, it's nothing new.
  • Should I spend my time trying to prove one way or the other? I don't think so. We are called to bring the gospel to the world. Flat earth has no place in the gospel and it shouldn't be used as a means to convert people to Christianity.
For me, flat earth isn't something I think about any more. Not because I don't find it interesting or compelling, but because it has no place in my Christian walk and the things I need to be doing. I will find out soon enough whether flat earth is true or not.

Have you ever heard of Jacob's Ladder?

Oh, you mean the dream Jacob had? Is that different from a vision? Do dreams reflect reality? What does this have to do with where rain comes from? Why are you deflecting to other issues?

Heretic!

You would turn your back on the Flat Earth Bible!?

God's holy word!?

Don't you know faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the ESV, NIV, NASB, Good News Bible, NKJV, NCT, NET, NIRV ana host of others?

What does this have to do with where rain comes from?
I thought the issue was the windows of heaven ... not what went through them?

They are probably wormholes.

But rain doesn't come pouring out of windows in outer space. (I mean, it doesn't come pouring out of any kind of windows, but it's not coming from as far away as outer space.)

Possibly it's just that I'm having a hard time understanding your indirect answers.

We seem to agree that the Bible says that there are waters above the firmament, and by opening windows in the firmament, that water can pour through as rain (or, as you pointed out, the flood of Noah).

How far away is this firmament? Surely not in outer space?

Even if we had evidence of wormholes in space (we don't), that's not where rain comes from.

You're getting your terms mixed up, I think.

A "firmament" is a containment area, populated by specific things according to God's plan.

1st heaven is populated by grass, trees, birds, etc.

2nd heaven is populated by moons, planets, stars, angels, etc.

3rd heaven is populated by Crystal Sea, thrones, etc.

The "windows of heaven" -- more specifically, the wormholes between 1st and 2nd heaven are somewhere at the boundary of sky and space.

I used to think they were these depleted ozone layers that doomsday scientists like to blame on flurocarbons to make us stop using aerosol sprays.

But I don't necessarily believe that anymore.

Despite what the water canopy theory says, it is quite possible that the layer of water that God sheared off the earth before calling Pangaea into existence by ordering the contents of the sea water to congeal and form the landmass known in the Bible as "Eden," and to scientists as "Pangaea," to appear could have been taken to the moon (thus the "seas" seen on the moon), or to Mars (thus the "canals"), or wherever He chose.

Then, when the right time came, God simply ordered this huge body of water into the wormholes, and it came out over the earth as rain.

My buddy, Captain Dan, posted this link in a thread:

What Does the Bible Say About Flat Earth?

So I thought I would pick it apart by posting some of the verses (King James, of course) from time to time and commenting on them.

For the record, I think the only time the Bible mentions the physical shape of the earth is when It mentions the earth being "without form and void."
The Genesis account of the earth is that God created a firmament to separate the waters. The firmament is the sky which looks like a dome (when you look at a blue sky, it has a dome shape). This dome was a firmament that separates water from the land (the blue sky looks like it has water above it).

This dome sat above a flat earth.

Later this model was adapted to a spherical shape when it was realised that the earth was round, and the dome shape firmament surrounded the earth like a bubble.

This was the model of the earth that existed at the time of Galileo, who argued that the sun didn't rotate around our earth, but instead the earth around the sun.

Correct.

But not TO separate the waters, it was to create our atmosphere.

He just "killed two birds with one stone" and sheared off a layer of water, while creating our atmosphere.

This is correct.

Okay.

No, it didn't. Landmass Earth didn't exist as yet until God called it forth from the ocean the next day.

It's in the Bible.

In the classroom, I suppose it would be referred to as a "wormhole" or something.
You tend to suppose wrongly.
This being no exception.
In classrooms it is referred to as "Jacob's Ladder". And depending on the classroom, might be described as a ladder, a stairway, a hill of clouds stacked to form a continuous structure, or even an invisible elevator between the earth and the city of Heaven.

Academia clouds theology.I assume you're referring to the sky? aka First Heaven? aka First Firmament?
Academia invented theology.

I don't think so. I see you adding all sort of things to the Bible. Wormholes. Pangaeas. Ozones. But most importantly multiple firmaments.

A "firmament" is a containment area, populated by specific things according to God's plan.

Erm. If you say so. Moving on, God talks about 'a' firmament in Gen 1:6. And thereafter there is only 'the' firmament.

"The firmament" has waters above it and below it.
"The firmament" has lights put in it.
The fowl fly around above the earth and within "the firmament".

When did multiple firmaments get created?

Then, when the right time came, God simply ordered this huge body of water into the wormholes, and it came out over the earth as rain.

Is that where ordinary rain comes from, as in Amos and Malachi?

See, you guys can't even get that right. At least science uses testable predictions.
And what do their testable predictions say about the Rapture when, as you put it, God will come down and set His faithful straight?
