I believe the Bible says no one is required to pray for someone has committed the sin unto death, which is the unforgivable sin.

I am struggling so much since I found out I committed the unforgivable sin and I cannot function.

I do not know if it is appropriate to ask for prayers for this, but I guess I am asking for prayers to make my wicked life some kind of vessel of good while i'm on this earth before going to hell

If you are concerned, and are asking for prayers, you sure don’t sound eternally lost. There are three unforgivable sins in the Bible.

The first is what the Pharisees did. They accused Messiah of doing his miracles by the power of the devil. The second is to take the Mark of the beast. The third is to refuse the mercy and grace of the Son for salvation.

Messiah himself said that all other sins are forgivable.

I pray you will be given light and peace of mind about this, and a deeper knowledge of the Lord and his word in the Bible.

Welcome Jo. What do you think the unforgivable sin is?

The sin is verbally attributing Jesus to the evil one. I had weird thoughts about this like many others may have struggled with, but I took it to the next level and it slipped out VERBALLY at a later date while I was drinking and I said it out loud to my sister and her husband . I had knowledge of faith and had accepted Jesus as my savior before and I still let it get to that point of continued questioning, which is the epitome of the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Having light of the knowledge of God in your life and continuing to question it, all the way to the point of questioning if Jesus is the evil one. I fulfilled the sin. I said out loud "what if Jesus is the anti-*****?" or I said "maybe Jesus is the anti-***** wouldn't that be the greatest deception." I think I mentioned the miracles also but I don't remember exactly. I did worse than the Pharisees did out of foolish arrogance? ignorance? I don't know. I don't think I can claim ignorance because I know the overall gospel story. I did not know there was an unforgivable sin until I started reading the bible myself a few weeks ago starting with the book of Matthew, but that doesn't matter

No, you didn't. If you had, you would neither feel convicted, nor a desire to repent. You would be apathetic to all things Godly. That those are all in place means that the Holy Spirit is still working with you.

If you have OCD, seek treatment and find a church that knows how to deal with it. Especially, do not isolate yourself from such a church. The feelings in the OP will not go away on their own.

So ... to handle this as simply as possible ...

God doesn't mind us asking questions. It's really more a matter of where our heart is.

At worst, what you did might have been blasphemy against Jesus, Himself, which is forgivable.

The Holy Spirit only comes into the picture if you charged that Jesus did His miraculous works by the power of Satan.

Also ... I highly doubt that God puts much stock into our proclamations ... when we are, even, a little intoxicated.

So ... I think that you're good. The Pharisees didn't want Jesus as savior ... and soundly rejected Him. Your situation is different ...

No you didn't!

This sin has nothing to do with uttering something bad or wrong in a moment of crazy talk. It has to do with choosing as a pattern and way of life fighting the Holy Spirit's work in wanting to bring you to repentance. You HAVE the fear of the Lord. You're wanting to be in line with him. You're not continually resisting him and you're wanting Jesus in your life. Jesus said if a man will come to me I will in no wise cast him out....that he'd receive him. The Holy Spirit wants what Jesus wants so be encouraged and let your heart be filled with joy.

Maybe if you thought of it how the Holy Spirit views this. If he's working continually through things he does to release his power (as he did with sign and wonders with Jesus) to bring the Pharisees. to repentance but they continually just will not come.....what can he do for them? Nothing. You've heard about how pride can harden one's heart. Simply works this way they keep saying Jesus was no good and to change that about and say he was good and right requires them to humble themselves. But they might say something like, " But I've said repeatedly Jesus was false and to go back now and change it....I'd loose face!" Yes they would so why wouldn't they just do it? PRIDE.

My point.....You are not in that realm of pride. Your heart is in sorrow and remorse...theirs was not! You're wanting to show humility. They DID NOT. So if you'll look upon it this way how could you think you've committed the unforgiveable . I'd like to encourage you to believe that you haven't.

Peter also had knowledge of faith. Jesus said in Matthew 10:33 that He would deny before the Father those who denied Him before men. Then in Matthew 26:72, he denied Jesus before men. But Peter ended up being forgiven by Jesus and went on to do great things from there.

You didnt commit the unforgivable sin. Matthew 12:31-32. You say you asked a question while not thinking straight and you are repentant of it. The Pharisees accused him of acting by the power of Satan, denied who he was and plotted to kill him. There was no change of heart and they, in their right and sound minds continued to speak against Jesus and plot to kill him. If you have committed the unforgivable sin surely that means that Paul had as well and he did far worse than you. He denied Jesus and hunted down believers to deliver them to death, yet was chosen to be used by Jesus. I'm sure Saul/Paul would have said far worse about Jesus before his conversion than you did.

You have not committed the unpardonable. Did you see Anthony's post in your other thread? He gives the appropriate context and parses the verb of the verse in question. The Pharisees were intently trying to slander Jesus in others' eyes. In doing so they knew they were lying about Jesus, so it was intentional. We know this because at the end of John 9 Jesus tells them that if they did not see they would have no sin. They were deliberating slandering the Holy Spirit in order to keep their control of the people.

That's a far different thing than wondering about Jesus' origin. Everyone has wondered about that at some point. And clearly it is not your heart to slander Him or the Spirit. You are not guilty of this offense, period. God is not trying to nail you on a technicality. As our High Priest Jesus suffered as we do and He knows our weaknesses, including weakness of mind and of faith. He came into the world to save the world, not to condemn it (John 3).

My prayer is that you will see this and understand you are Saved despite your weaknesses. He who is forgiven much loves much, and we love because He first loved us. This affliction is not from God. Don't believe the enemy's lies.

Asking a question with what if, is not the same thing as making a flat out accusation. The Pharisees made a flat out accusation.

If you had committed the unpardonable sin you would not be asking for prayers because you would have totally rejected God, you are asking for prayers, you did not reject God. End of Problem.
