How can this be when the serpent was there sinning like crazy before they ate?

There would be no sin and no death - if all that happened was that "The serpent of old" Rev 12 - , Satan - had tempted Eve and then Eve had said "hmm sounds like a good story but I think I will sleep on it and come back tomorrow after getting a second opinion. I assume the Tree of Knowledge will still be here tomorrow ... right?"

While there's a tradition that they're in heaven, no one really knows. But their sin has been said to not be the worst sin, even though its the granddaddy of all sin and opened the door for all the rest that followed. But regardless of how serious, God's plan of salvation was in place before He created Adam & Eve. And planet earth, as an exile from Him into a world where man's will reigns, with all the resulting sin that we observe and experience everyday along with the uncertainty about one's future existence that accompanies this lost and exiled state, is a place of education and formation rather than merely punishment because here we may learn what we missed, what we lost, especially when revelation and grace also come onto the scene. Here we may develop a hunger and thirst for the justice and truth and righteous that are so often lacking in the world of man. Here we may begin to search for something more, something 'bigger" than ourselves and the values and offerings of this world.

In some ways we're now at an advantage compared to Adam & Eve in Eden, because we've tasted of life apart from God, we've known evil, along with the good inherent in creation. And, as they experienced the same in life after their sin, they presumably came to their senses and realized their need for God after all. That's God's desire for all of us in any case, and, fortunately, He's patient in this grand endeavor of His, having given us time and a place, along with revelation and grace, within which to work out our salvation.

The question isn't so easy to answer.

The idea of "heaven" as the "good place" people go after death and "hell" as the "bad place" people go after death is, largely speaking, a very modern way of thinking.

In the Old Testament we really only have a single destination for the dead, called She'ol, meaning "grave" or "pit". It was simply the place of the dead, for both the righteous and the wicked.

When Jesus tells us the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus He describes the place of the dead, She'ol (translated as Hades in Greek) as split between the abode of the righteous dead where Abraham was (called Paradise) and the abode of the wicked dead (called Gehenna).

As such, traditional iconography depicts Christ's descent into Hades between His death and resurrection as His descent to defeat the devil, proclaim victory to the prisoners, and liberate them.

See how in the following the Lord, in the midst of "hell", has crushed the gates of Hades under His feet, with the devil tied and bound, crushed beneath them. And our Lord takes hold of the wrists of Adam and Eve, pulling them from their sarcophagi, raising them to life in Himself. On His right and left are all the Old Testament saints, Kings David and Solomon, John the Baptist, Abraham, Moses, etc.

Resurrection-Anastasis-Icon-Hand-Painted-Byzantine-Orthodox-51.jpg

We speak of "going to heaven" as shorthand to describe our hope of being with the Lord between death and resurrection. The point being that our Lord has wrought victory over sin, death, hell, and the devil; and so we no longer fear death and hell, that ancient prison is not for us. Our place is with Christ. Whether now in hope, or in His presence between death and resurrection, or when all is said and done, and we behold our Lord wish eyes on that Last Day, when God has raised the dead and renews all things.

Enoch was one of the saints of the OT - and was translated - taken directly to heaven without dying. But like Noah - he did not write a single word of scripture. So while it is certain that some splinter of his teaching survives out to 5000 years later via tradition - much of it is interpolated with hellenistic thought that was easily inserted since there was no Hebrew text to deal with as if it had been preserved from the days of Enoch.
Your opinion is not based on fact, history, or Truth.

Sheol is an unknown indiscriminate place of the dead. it's like a door of death that all must pass through but what's on the other side no one knows. this reflects the ignorance of the OT with regards to the afterlife. The account of the rich man and Lazarus does not use the word Sheol it uses the word Hades to describe the punishment part of the afterlife. What is Hades? Like Sheol it is also an indiscriminate place of the dead but unlike Sheol is it not left unarticulated or unknown and there is a lot of written account as to what Hades looks like. To start it's a borrowed term from Greek mythology where Hades is the underworld and its god also is named Hades. Clearly, Jesus doesn't intend the mythology but he still uses the term to describe a place of the dead reserved for punishment that we can be saved from. This small account has more information on the afterlife than the sum of the entire OT does on Sheol and is like Jesus opens the door of Sheol and the perspective is from the inside.

But as to it's physical descriptors we need to take it with a grain of salt and understand how they are being used and why. the goal of this account is not to describe these places or to teach us what these places look like, the goal of the account to show the place of honour given to Lazarus and the place of dishonour given to the rich man which is a reverse of how their lives were and an unexpected result; a detail aimed at the phrases listening in. Lazarus is said to be at the side of Abraham and this is a reference to Lazarus being counted as a son of Abraham and a position of high honour where the rich man is removed from Abraham's presence and is rejected as a son and along with that has no claim to an inheritance as a true son. The account also foreshadows Christ's own resurrection. So there is a lot going on in the account but literal descriptors of these places or how they are organized I don't think is one of them and when this is all we can see we've missed the point completely of the account.
It already had the literal description of it written in the Book of Enoch the prophet, the seventh from Adam, as Jude the womb brother of Jesus names him.
Jesus tells a true story of a certain rich man who had 5 brothers who was in torments in hell. He tells that to those standing hearing him, and personally, my own opinion is, that the rich man’s 5 brothers were present, or represented in that number of people hearing Jesus....which reason I give is that it is a mercy and a grace to warn the rich man’s brothers, as he requested in hell, but as to the telling of the different places the rich man and Lazarus were in, they are described in Enoch, who saw everything in creation and wrote of it all, laying the foundation that the prophets after him relied upon. Even Jesus does not need to relay the foundation for the belly of the earth -the pit/hole/Sheol where the angels that fell are chained in the lowest part and where there are different valley’s separated with no passing through to another, and one for those souls who departed their bodies to go there to wait for the promise of Genesis 3:15 to be fulfilled.
Lazarus was in a place that had springs of water. The rich man was in torments in flames.
The places were separated and no one could cross over to the others.

written in the Book of Enoch the prophet
Enoch is a product of Jewish Hellenization. the Hellenistic period is from 323 BC to about 33 BC and it is characterized by Greek influence spreading across the ancient world. This is happening essentially after the death of Alexander the Great until the Roman Empire takes root. Judea was at the front lines of these Hellenistic kingdoms changing hands many times and the product of which are diasporas and Hellenized Jews who lose the ability to speak Hebrew and things like the Septuagint emerge for Greek-speaking Jews. The book of Enoch falls right in the middle of this and is a prime candidate for Hellenization. So the fact that hades in Enoch look like a Greek version is because it had greek influence. The concept that Enoch presents about the afterlife is far more detailed and articulated than the sum of the entire old testament. As I have said, Sheol in the OT is unknown and mysterious like a closed door, all must pass through but no one knows what's on the other side and anyone who says otherwise is not reading the OT. Very often Sheol is used as a type of synonym for death itself. This doesn't immediately discredit the book of Enoch but it does mean the book has likely gone through Hellenization of its own and if it looks and sounds Greek that means it probably is Greek.

You have no facts to prove your opinion, but the Word of God tells us, in Genesis 4:10, that the voice of Cain's blood -his soul- was crying out to YHWH "from the earth"
"And the LORD said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground/earth".
Enoch the prophet, the seventh from Adam, was shown the four hollows of Sheol in the belly of the earth, and he heard the voice of the soul/spirit of Abel crying out for the avenging of his blood/life.
"The life is in the blood"

In Sheol, the place where the souls of the righteous were gathered until the promised Atonement was fulfilled was a beautiful place, with water and "light". Cain was the first human being to go to the belly of the earth, to wait for that day.
Enoch 22:3; "Then Raphael, one of the Holy Angels who was with me, answered me, and said to me: “These beautiful places are there so that the spirits, the souls of the dead, might be gathered into them. For them they were created; so that here they might gather the souls of the sons of men."..
22:6,7; 6 Then I asked Raphael, the Angel who was with me, and said to him: “Whose is this spirit, whose voice thus reaches Heaven and complains?”

7 And he answered me, and said to me, saying: “This spirit is the one that came out of Abel, whom Cain, his brother, killed. And he will complain about him until his offspring are destroyed from the face of the Earth, and from amongst the offspring of men, his offspring perish.”

*follow up post showing the proofs of my opening in first sentence is coming.
Stay tuned

You have no facts to prove your opinion
And all you have is the extra biblical pseudepigrapha 2nd century BC work as your source to affirm this. Nothing in the OT remotely demonstrates this type of knowledge and if Enoch wrote it you would think Abraham, Moses and all the prophets would be better informed, instead the knowledge of Sheol exists only in ignorance in the OT.

They went to Sheol or Hades. In the Orthodox Icons of the Resurrection Christ is seen pulling Adam and Eve out of their graves as a symbol of the redemptive power of the Resurrection.

Apparently a tradition claims Adam was buried at the same spot where Christ was crucified and as Christ's blood dripped on the soil and was absorbed until it finally reached Adam's remains Christ's blood resurrected him. I don't know where the source is from or what traditions holds to it but I've heard the account several times. Since the the biblical narrative doesn't tell us what happened to Adam traditions are the only sources.

I don't know about this tradition, but it is certainly symbolically pertinent

The devil brought sin into the world and not Adam and Eve.
1 John 3:8 says" He that committeth sin is of the devil, for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil"

Adam and Eve repented for their sins and God forgave them.
May God Bless You

But for all purposes they brought it to the world as is taught.

For flesh mankind, yes.

Yet the Bible student will never understand why Adam and Eve were allowed to be tempted by the devil in Eden until they first try to understand what the very first sin was about that caused God to bring this 2nd world earth age with ordaining His Son to be born of flesh woman to be the perfect sacrifice for sin once and for all. Our Heavenly Father doesn't show us this until we dig deeper into His written Word. A lot of that answer is in the Books of the prophets.

Heb 9:22 In fact under the Law almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness [neither release from sin and its guilt, nor cancellation of the merited punishment].

(AMP) Gen 3:21 The Lord God made tunics of [animal] skins for Adam and his wife and clothed them.

(MY NOTE: Animals had to die for these skins to be made. This suggests it's here the first blood covering atonement was made. And not only that, it was the LORD that made it. This would also suggest Adam & Eve's ultimate destiny is heaven.

Old Testament animal sacrifices were a foreshadowing sin atonement (COVERING) offer. Pointing to the ultimate perfect sinless blood of Jesus that would completely (REMOVE) one's sins.

Noah & Abraham offered animal sacrifices to the Lord prior to the Law of Moses. Blood sacrifices began with man's 1st sin & continued until Jesus perfect sin redeeming > Once for All Time payment.

Nobody is in heaven or hell

No, we face a judgement from God upon death. At that time, our soul goes to either hell, purgatory (for cleansing before heaven), or directly to heaven.

Later, after the Second Coming of Jesus, our soul will reunite with our bodies, and we will face the final judgement. Then we will be there for eternity.

We don't know, but there is some indication that they were redeemed.

In the Old Testament, animal sacrifice was symbolic of the true Sacrifice yet to come.
Abel knew to offer an animal sacrifice.
If Abel learned it from Dad & Mom, their sacrifices would have been satisfied by Jesus, too.

Ever wonder why Heb 11:4 begins with BY FAITH ABEL , and did not begin BY FAITH ADAM ?

Gen 3:8 Adam and Eve walked by SIGHT as they talked with Christ in the Garden .

Then notice that when they new that they were naked they sewed FIG LEAVES to cover there NAKENESS as people do today , to cover there sins .

Yes there where both SAVED as Gen 3:21 as the Lord God MADE COATS of Skins , and clothed them .

The HEB word MADED ASA , which is in the Hebrew stem QAL and the aspect is in the Hebrew IMPERFECT TENSE .

Christ started what is called ATONEMENT , a covering and as Heb 9:22 that with out the SHEDDING OF BLOOD there is no remission of SIN .

Atonement is part of the Jewish Law and when Israel was SET ASIDE , in Acts 28:25-28 where Paul says , that the SALVATION of God was sent to the Gentiles and they will hear .

The Heb IMPERFECT TENSE stop at ACTS 28 .
