Flyovers are okay but tanks aren’t? You can do waaaaay more damage with a single plane than you can with a tank.

Flyovers do seem a little weird now that you mention it... A little out of place, maybe.

What you are calling politics affects every area of our lives. And conservatives have no problem bringing politics into these arenas. First, you said that conservatives don’t cancel people, now you’re moving the goalposts and saying well, when conservatives do it it’s for a legitimate reason.

I don't think that's exactly how it played out. All I really want to focus on is seperation of ideologies, which I see as the ticket to peace.

...But that's just how I see it. And I pat myself on the back for addressing it in its proper place -- A debate forum. :)

Here: I got one.
So I’m playing poker for phony money last night and another player’s avatar was named TrumpInPrison.
I used the chat feature to point out that many players play to escape the insanity of the political world but here it is, drug onto an online poker table.

Trying to keep politics out of other cultural venues seems blithely optimistic at best, (though one does what one can).

What does separation of ideologies mean to you? The ideology that no race should be excluded from participation in society, for instance. Should that be separated from sports and entertainment?

Do you have an issue with the National Anthem being sung at the beginning of sports games? Or the big displays of militarism?

I have one that goes back decades. Not the National Anthem per se, but how it is performed. It is almost always performed, with the focus on the performer and most of the time the performer tries to put some twist on it instead of just singing it.

Contrast the American National Anthem as performed at sporting events with La Marseillaise in Casablanca!

Casablanca La Marseillaise - Bing video

Though I do speak enough French to have a few issues with the song itself.

In battle, that’s true. But a B-1, or F/A-18 flyover won’t do to the playing field what driving around in an Abrams tank will.

Doesn’t that already exist? My state requires an ID before voting. AFAIK, all the states do.

Not really. In PA, for example of when you vote for the first time in a new precinct, you need to identify yourself somehow. But that identification doesn't have to be an ID. It can be the voter registration card they send you in the mail when you registered at your address. After that first time, you just need your signature. They'll compare it to the signature of them last time you voted.

Your opinion here is relevant to the situation starting when you purchase your first major league team. Be sure to keep us up to date on your progress.

It won’t happen then either. Will @hislegacy own the stadium? If then they’ll probably have a TIF to deal with and other taxes that can be raised and lowered and have an effect on his bottom line. They’ll also have to deal with labor laws for those working in his stadium. If the stadium isn’t owned than the owner of the stadium is likely the local government or a special government organization that @hislegacy will now be dealing with. And if they want a new stadium or significant improvements, that cranks the politics up significantly. Green Bay held an election on whether to make improvements to Lambeau Field around 2000. A few years earlier a state assemblyman in Wisconsin was recalled because his constituents didn’t like his vote for getting the Brewers a new stadium.

The state legislature will be important for @hislegacy to work with to try to keep income taxes low to encourage free agents to sign with their club. Working with the local governments to make the area an attractive place for free agents to move with zoning, taxes, ways to encourage businesses to develop, transit, etc.

Buying a sports team wouldn’t do anything to divorce politics from sports. You might as well ask for water without any hydrogen in it.

Sports should stay out of politics.
I agree. Let’s start by ditching the national anthem from sporting events. That seems overtly political.

The wealthy liberal elites are making their political statements and causing themselves loss of revenue.
Then the market is functioning exactly like it’s supposed to. We’ll see if the pushback is enough to get them to reconsider.

No, I was just explaining that our common citizenship isn't politics... Or any other kind of ideology... It's a real-life "fact".
Correct. And don't you find it irksome when an uncomplicated proposition like yours gets turned into "Sooo...what you mean/believe is_______(insert something that has no connection to what you said)?"
:D
