Not that "before Evolution: you must become a fish", but Jesus never said "before man, be ape"

What is the maximum number of changes a species can make from its original form?

So they burn all the medical waste together (bandages, gowns, etc.) and it has a net heat release. Big deal.
Ya ... big deal.
An Oregon county commission has ordered an incinerator to stop accepting boxed medical waste to generate electricity after learning the waste it's been burning may include tissue from aborted fetuses from British Columbia.

Half the world, if not all of it, would be speaking Japanese right now, wouldn't it?

No.
Not even in the same city as the ball park.
Without the atomic bomb, the conquest if Japan would have taken a good 2 decades.
Claimed at least 4 million American dead, and some 75 million Japanese dead.
And left Japan an uninhabited grave.
Nobody would be speaking Japanese, because the last living speakers would have died defending the body of the last Emperor.

General Note: If you want to, please take the time to welcome Mr Laurier [back] to CF! He and I have locked horns many a time with some heated debates. Dan comes across as very well-educated in history, and I enjoy his unique perspectives on the subject. Aside from that, he's a friendly chap, who is easy-going and nice to talk to.

To your poll... there is no maximum. It is unanswerable and seems to have nothing at all to do with the OP.

Jesus said "be ready to forgive up to seventy times seven" - seems like a maximum?

EDIT: Trees have a maximum height, also. Strictly speaking: the context is the same

As for the rest... sigh... Christianity and the Bible have nothing at all to do with Evolution. Asking what Jesus meant with regard to evolution or pointing out he didn't say this or that with regard to evolution is completely irrelevant. Evolution is based on observation of reality, not what someone said about anything.

Genesis talks about the Creation of all things - how is focusing on the survival of that "Creation" not relevant?

It seems to me that you're just using evolution as a pretext to preach. :sigh:

Is there anything you cannot preach about (within reason)?

I agree.

I like to call those things you mentioned (combustion engines, photons, viruses) "Easter eggs".

Things God "hid" (or embedded) into His creation, pending discovery when the right time came.

Hidden, one embedding upon another - till the whole leaven was raised.

Put it another way:

Jesus never said "I will keep talking to you, until you change your mind about what you believe".

If He was going to convince us that "Evolution" was important (let alone meaningful or well-placed), He would have been insistent that those that believe in Him, wait until they have seen "Evolution in Him".

Your religion has no bearing on the Theory of Evolution.

Really, Evolution is limited like everything is - the whole point, is to work out how limited?

Yes.

It's limited to genetic changes that don't interfere with a species survival. Small steps that can build up and not kill individuals inheriting them.
