This is not a trivial or silly question. Those who controlled the Republican Party before 2015 are no longer welcome. This has been very clear. So, gone are those with the political views of Romney, Bush's, Dole, McCain, Blake and many, many others.

There are names from the past who hope to take some power if Trump is ever gone. But I think that it is too late for Cruz, Graham, Rubio, Scott, and Haley. McConnell is trying to keep some of the old guard in power, but Trump won't even let the old guard use his name in advertising and campaigning.

WILL THERE BE A THRID PARTY AND WHEN?
Much has happened since Election Day. Trump has effectively changed the Republican Party for decades. Support from Romney and Bush has been replaced by support from the Proud Boys and the white supremicists. I am NOT saying that this direction won't work in lots of states, but this isn't the path of a successful national party. It is the 2020's version of George Wallace. And yes, there will be lots of voter suppression to control these states as long as they can.

Rich business folks and bankers will have no problem working with Democrats and supporting their elections. The bankers worked very well with Obama.
=============
The OPEN question is the 150 year old political Republican Party. With the Republican party being morphed into what some want to call The Patriot Party, the old Republicans will need to decide whether to form a Conservative Party, or to join and change one of the existing small parties.

The issue is much larger than Trump. He and Bannon have indeed coalesced a movement, and a group we like to call the Trump base. They are going nowhere, certainly not for a few years. They will control the Republican primaries in lots of states.

I think Trump will personally (at his whim) support candidates that he likes and is no longer supporting ANY republican out there now that the party has proved that they aren't united if he intends to consider running again he is smart to not help his enemies prosper. I think Cruz will get his support but Romney..... likely not at all.

A Third Party might be inviting, but I do not see it happening.

I have been saying that for years. I strongly believe that we are a 2 party system. But the Trump Party seems to be here to stay, likely for a decade. Trump may leave, but he will have left a base and elected officials even more radical than he is.

In 10 or 15 years, I would expect the current group of Trumpers to be in a relatively small 3rd party, like a Wallace in 1968. Alternatively, they could be the ones to move to the Patriot Party. I just don't see it.
The country needs a strong conservative party that is allied with corporations. That has always been the case.

Not to nitpick, but Bob Dole supports Trump.

The direction in which the party is moving is one that is one that is at its core white, male, and working class. It can have a strong appeal to voters that fall into any two of those three categories as well.

Thank you for the correction on Dole.

Yes, Trump's base is white, male, and working class. These demographics are continuing to shrink as a percentage of the voters.

For example, Trump's lack of appeal to college age women is spectacular, especially in the suburbs.

The party of Lincoln died a long long time ago. We may debate the date, but by 1933 Catholics, Jews, and African Americans were already supporting the Democratic Party's New Deal. The last nail in the coffin was probably in 1968 with the racially-based "Southern strategy."

The party of Reagan is now also dead. Trump made it clear that his supporters will keep using the "Republican" brand name.

Personally, I think it would be best for the conservatives to join the Alliance Party. That little-known party actually had a candidate on the ballot in last presidential election.

Republican politicians are banking on the 80 millions people who came out to vote against Trump in 2020 election is a one time fluke. Republicans are almost certain that liberal democrats, youth voter, never Trumper republicans will not come out to vote in 2022 or 2024. They are most likely right. Youth vote , Black man and Hispanic man are not reliable voter. They came out to vote in 2020 but there is no guarantee that they will again come out stand in line 4-8 hours to vote. But republicans know die hard Trump supporter, evangelicals will come out to vote in primary, in mid-term election and in general election no matter how hard it is to vote.

So , as long as these 80 millions voter who voted for Biden is not reliable voting block, republican policy will be where it is because their supporter will stand in the rain as long as it takes to vote for them.

Only way Republican politicians will move to center if they think centrist Republican, independent voter will come out to vote in 2022 primary or mid-term election.

Actually the current Republican party depends on making sure non-Rerpublican voters have long lines and are not allowed to have umbrellas while republican districts have no lines at all.

That is why they fear voting by mail so much. It takes away that possibility. They are fighting a second line stand by trying to make it easy to throw out mail votes by checking signatures and demanding a far greater match than is requited at physical sites. That will have an impact, but it will eventually also fail.

I don’t disagree with you. But my point is , if those who doesn’t agree with republican policy or tactic , if they come and vote in primary, in local election no matter what and replace city , state and national leader , republican will not have the power to do” Gerrymandering”, change election law and suppress voter. If voters are engaged in local election, republicans will be out of power to suppress vote. But until that happens voters have to come out and vote. These republicans will not give up power and make it easy for every one to vote. In democracy we have only one power – Ballot box. Sitting at home and hope republican will come to their sense will never change anything.

I see that you've memorized the talking points pretty well, but this kind of talk is simply shameful.

People might mistakenly think, when they read such irresponsible and baseless claims, that there might be an element of truth to it, and that wouldn't serve any of our discussions very well.

Believe as you will. As a Democrat, I am fine if the Republicans continue in their current positions and actions. It will make 2022 much easier. Hopefully, Trump will still be very involved in the 2022 primaries.

Would a third party make a difference if it is only cobbled from remnants of the existing. Is it not time for a radical change to a party from below: from the workers and unemployed and poor to challenge the corperate overlords.

I have no interest in revolts or radical change in the sense you mean.

Perhaps, but "current positions and actions" wasn't what we all read in that post. Instead, it was a recitation of the latest creations in the field of name-calling and character assassination.

If ordinary people cannot stop the big money boys from dreaming up this stuff in some ad executive's office, at the very least let's have the rest of us swear off using it like parrots. How about it?

Please give me your views with regard to their veracity of the statements below

1) Members who support the Black Live Matter Movement are very likely to support the Democrats.

2) Folks who committed violent acts art BLM riots are very likely to support Democrats.

3) Members of Proud Boys are very likely to support the Republicans.

4) Those who support Qanon are very likely to support the Republicans.

5) Those who support white supremacist organizations are very likely to support Republican organization.
============
I do NOT say that all of Democratic leadership supports the BLM movement.
I do not say that all of the Republican leadership supports the organizations mentioned in 3-5.
=============
All voters and others will have their views.
I do not place equivalence to the violence during the BLM demonstrations to the insurrection of Jan 6th.
