Is anyone other than me bothered by this thing rolled into CPAC in the image of Trump?
Nah, the telltale signs of cultism have been evident for years now. He's the undisputed Golden MAGAt King.Is anyone other than me bothered by this thing rolled into CPAC in the image of Trump?
idolno, no one is really bothered by it. It is just a byline for the left to continue their narrative and it has no weight or connection with reality.
Hmmm.... a mock-up of Trump in a Stars and Stripes bathing suit at a Republican event in Florida.
What I find disturbing is that there are people actually equating it with an idol.
it’s called humor.
What a truly interesting time in which we live.
I cannot understand why people who claim to call themselves Christians are not instinctively recoiling from this.
This is why I truly, truly believe that Trump supporters are under a great spiritual delusion being permitted by God. That's the only reasonable answer.
Yeah, all of those masses of people bowing down to it, offering animal sacrifices, burning incense...
Or not.
Idolatry is what you do with a thing, not what it is made of or how it is shaped.
It's offensive even in a secular sense. The Founding Fathers fought a bloody war specifically to avoid living in a country where the leader is deified and elevated above the common man. I wouldn't exactly call this sacrilege but it's in the same spirit. The real irony is those people probably assume this is patriotism.I cannot understand why people who claim to call themselves Christians are not instinctively recoiling from this.

Again, Christians ought to instinctively recoil against a golden statue.
"That ain't right" ought to be an instinctive response.

Then, over time, we deified the founders and transformed their works to near holy writ. It's offensive even in a secular sense. I would say idolatry is not merely obvious acts of worship towards something such as those you mentioned.
inappropriate contentography makes idols of women for example. One does not offer prayers to inappropriate contentography and so forth, but it is a worship of the fleshly form. People make idols out of all sorts of things; politicians, musicians, movie stars etc.
