You do know that Texas refineries are SHUT DOWN????

Texas refineries slowly restart after last week's deep freeze | Financial Post

The freeze knocked out power for millions of Texans and idled nearly a quarter of national refining capacity. The storm’s effect on refining rivaled that of 2017’s Hurricane Harvey, but also brought the added problems of freezing natural gas and water lines that will make it harder for facilities to restart safely.

Yes I remembered a coworker who cursed at W. Bush for all his problems. When the gas went up and he cursed at that I began to tell him all the stuff Obama did verses Bush that affected it.

And I did the same thing for us loosing our nice Kaiser health insurance benefit in the aftermath of Obamacare...

And when he went to the Veteran's hospital for his needs (because he was Vietnam Vet) I also informed him of all the problems going on at the VA at the time under Obama. (Lots of Vets dying from bad service)

The OP’s implication here is errant. He’s overlooked an obvious, steady upward trend in gas prices that predates Biden’s tenure. There is no shift in the trend after Biden supposedly went after oil. OP started another thread without checking his facts.

Since you’re already on GasBuddy, you can look at the historical charts and see that prices started going up around Thanksgiving, a month and a half before Biden took office.

But hey, why let facts pollute one of your OP’s?

Apparently, people want a free market economy and then complain when prices go up that the president is supposed to fix the entire world then complain that we shouldn't be the world's police department. You can't explain economic principles to these folks.

We are still energy independent, at least for now. I’m sure that will change as joe cuddles back with Iran.

The west should be engaged with Iran, especially the Iranian people.

I've always been strongly in favor of using up everyone else's fossil fuels first and saving ours for last. In the last decades of fossil energy, it's the better position. I'd prefer higher prices if we need to go 100% offshore oil till it gets used up.

We should also maintain good coal reserves.

If people thought things through though, I'd have no posts to write up.
I'd just be poking "agree" on everything. That's another reason to treat my enemies well.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration:

In its 2021 “Global Outlooks” annual report, the EIA argued that “total U.S. energy consumption will return to 2019 levels by 2029, though that is highly dependent on the pace of U.S. economic recovery.” In terms of energy production, “EIA projects that the United States will continue to export more petroleum and other liquids than it imports, but the balance of imports to exports will be highly sensitive to supply, demand, and price factors.”

So although we're sort of independent, we're still a part of the world economy and sensitive to what happens elsewhere.
