Matthew 20:
22
But Jesus answered and said, You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink
the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am
baptized with? They said to Him, We are able.
23 So He said to them, You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not
Mine to give, but for whom it is prepared by My Father.

1 Peter 4:
12
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as
though some strange thing happened to you;
13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His
glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory
and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

what i've read in scripture i believe Christ now sitting at the right hand of the Father has been given the power from God to divide the goats/sheep, wolves/sheep, wise and unwise virgins, etc, etc on his return. The just to the right, the unjust to the left.

If Jesus means all He suffered on Calvary, and how He was first betrayed and tried and tortured before being on the cross . . . I would not say He means each of us will be baptized in that suffering, but yes be baptized into how He was loving while going through all that.

Our Apostle Paul does say >

"And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." (Ephesians 5:2)

So, our baptism could mean loving the way Christ was loving, on Calvary.

And . . . practically - - - this could include something like going through the torture of sacrificing something which could get us arguing, for one example, and trust God to guide us in how to relate in love, instead.

John the Baptist puts clarity on the Baptism of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. It is the Holy Spirit that brings us into His Body. He will use fire (used symbolically) as a way to test our works.

2 Corinthians 1:
3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
4 Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are
in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
5
For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.
6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring
the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings,
so also of the consolation.

Those who have endured trials by the Grace of God are best equipped to comfort those
who are
going through.
And to also understand the need to let them go through-with encouragement.
For this is for their growth in Christ. This too is Love in action.

1 Peter 1:
6
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved
by various trials,
7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes,
though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation
of Jesus Christ,
8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice
with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

These trials are a primary theme of Peter in his first letter, and assures us that they are
for our good.

1 Peter 4:
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind,
for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for
the Will of God.

Yes, He is preparing us for that day.

James 1:
2
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
4 But let patience have perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Matthew 5:
10
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil
against you falsely for My sake.

12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they
persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Luke 22:31-32 >

"And the Lord said, 'Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.'" (Luke 22:31-32)

This was before Peter denied Jesus three times > even before Peter denied Jesus, Jesus already had prayed that Peter's faith would not fail! He was there for Peter, even before Peter had so sinned. I understand that Jesus prayed that Peter would come back to Jesus, plus that Peter would then gain strength so he would not fail like that, again . . . but also that Peter would minister this strength to his "brethren".

So, because Jesus did the praying, there was this all-loving result . . . not only of Peter getting back to Christ, but also how Peter became able to love others by ministering Jesus Christ's strength to them, too.

Likewise . . . as our Father comforts us according to 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 which you quote, in Post #6, above . . . now we have all-loving ability to comfort others . . . since God in His comfort is all-loving. His grace, then, does not only take care of us in our troubles, but this grace makes us all-loving in ability to bless and help any and all others.

Baptism of Fire being talked about here is severe persecution which can happen to any and all of us.

No, the Baptism of Fire is the receipt of the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of confession, as happened to the Apostles on Pentecost.

What are you responding to here? In particular, the scriptures that are being referenced in #1,
as well as others in the responses. While it may seem elusive, the topic is in regard to a baptism
mentioned here, and in post #1>
Matthew 20:
22

How does this statement correspond to the pouring out of the Spirit in Acts 2?

Mark 10: 38 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?” 39 “We can,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, 40 but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”

Jesus is not describing something pleasant, but something very challenging.

Baptism or being baptized is not in the scripture referenced.

Mat 20:20 Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, adoring and asking something of him.
20:21 Who said to her: What wilt thou? She saith to him: say that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left, in thy kingdom.
20:22 And Jesus answering, said: You know not what you ask. Can you drink the chalice that I shall drink? They say to him: We can.
20:23 He saith to them: My chalice indeed you shall drink; but to sit on my right or left hand is not mine to give to you, but to them for whom it is prepared by my Father.

Baptism or being baptized is not in the scripture referenced.

At least, not in that translation you are using.
An interesting and important variation on the text, and warrants a closer look.
Could you please also check John 10:38-40 cited in
post #15, and advise us of the translation you are referencing? Thanks.
Also, if you don't mind checking:

Luke 12:50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished!

Please check your quotation. This is not in John 10

Okay, it is Mark 10, and there is no NU omission here apparently
