It's leftist who requested the change of sexual identification on federal forms as
they're the only one's focused on gender identity and race.

Certainly not those from the center or the right
What's radical about them. It was Antifa.

Views on this seem to be about 50/50 at the moment. It's a liberal view but not a far left one. See particularly the section on bathroom laws in Americans Split Over New LGBT Protections, Restroom Policies More important, it's an issue that the Supreme Court has ruled on. However they did not rule on bathrooms or school sports. Nor did Biden's EO give specifics on them. The EO didn't set specific rules, but told agencies to develop policies. No doubt there will be lots of discussion and probably court cases.

I think the safety fears are paranoid, and likely ideologically motivated. However in some contexts fairness in athletics may become an issue. At some point we may have to decide whether school sports are about winning or about getting kids to learn about teamwork. At the Olympic level there are precautions to prevent trans women from competing unfairly. But those approaches seem inappropriate in high school and younger. In the world for which we are preparing students, trans will be accepted. I don't think it's a far-left extremist plot to want to prepare them for that.

I'd prefer to treat college sports like high school. But intercollegiate sports seem to have become de facto professional sports. I would not object to rules similar to the Olympic ones being used there.

God created man and woman. And they both look what they look because that's the way God created them. So many stories about gay people who have "healed" after they have become born again Christian's. I don't believe one second that being gay or trans is to do with any chemicals or molecules or dna whatever.. this agenda is global thing and I can say right now, no government would ever stop me saying my mother as mother and father my father. A little rant but it's wrong to support these attacks on Christianity. It's wrong to accept them.

I see the difference between being liberal and leftist

A liberal wouldn't make demands on others to have gender neutral documents, restrooms or whatever. Only a leftist would seek to have laws passed that places the mandate on society.

Though few, God also created hermaphrodites. The issues is not as binary as some people want to think. But generally speaking, yes, God created male and female.

But roughly half our population, including most who call themselves liberal, do in fact support steps allowing trans folk to live according to their gender. You can call it leftist if you like, but I think that is ideological. I consider it our Christian duty.

James 3:5 ff tells us that it is important to discipline our language. I understand that many would like to let loose with whatever attitudes they grew up with. That's represented by calling careful language "PC." But Christians should be willing to discipline our language so as not to cause problems for others, even if doing so seems new or unnatural.

There are several possible causes:

  • Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (the most common cause).
  • Male hormones (such as testosterone) taken or encountered
  • by the mother during pregnancy.
  • Male hormone-producing tumors in the mother: These are
  • most often ovarian tumors. ...
  • Aromatase deficiency: This one may not be noticeable until puberty. ...

Yes, a defect that some people are born with. People are born (created by God) with all sorts of defects. At least they seem like defects to those without the defect. Perhaps we get to hung up on what we think is "normal".

Jesus Christ of Nazareth mandated us to spread the Good News of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. He did not mandate us to persecute the very people the Gospel is meant for. The sinner. I wish Christians would get that fact. Be blessed.

True love tells the truth. It never enables.

Looking at the Acts of the Flesh listed in Galatians 5, some of them I did (and still do) struggle with. What do I do in this situation? I work on developing Christ-like character to overcome them instead of portraying myself as a victim. Even when the Gospel is presented as an invitation in the most Christ-like way possible, there is still no guarantee the person will accept. We all have free will and unfortunately, there are some who simply will NOT be reasoned with.

The truth hurts. That is why it is so unpopular.

When transmen invade women's sports that will be your response? "Think teamwork, not competition!"

For some reason I don't think you've thought this through. :D

There is not going to be an invasion. That's more ideological paranoia. There will be a small number of trans women in women's sports. I believe that's fine.

So you think God created queers, then said, You will be destroyed if you act out my programming. Sounds like Reformed theology. What God are we talking about? Certainly no god worthy of a nickles worth of time.

I certainly don't think that.

But it's a pretty basic fact that not all human beings fit into the neat and tidy categories that we use. Denying either the existence of such people, or worse, hating them for simply the fact that they exist, certainly isn't God's way.

All else to the side, the simple fact of the matter is that human biology isn't neat and tidy, it's messy and complicated. Not everyone is either an XX or XY chromosomally speaking, and even more than that, biology is more than just chromosomes--but deals also with brain chemistry, hormones, and all manner of things that are purely biological.

If someone is chromosomally male (XY chromosome pairing) but experiences androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS) they develop physiologically female--they have a vagina, they will develop breasts and other secondary sex characteristics as a female at puberty. They very likely were born and everyone said they were female, their parents raised them as a female, and may not even discover that they have AIS until much later in life when it's discovered that they don't have ovaries, and then a blood test to reveal that they are chromosomally male.

I bring this up purely as an example, because it's a very stark example of how male and female aren't clean and tidy concepts. Is the person I have described above male or female? Are they male because, genetically, that's what they are (they have a Y chromosome, and they don't have ovaries, but instead have internal testes), but because they have a hormonal condition they did not develop male sex organs, and physiologically they develop female. So are they female because they developed female physiology, or are they male because they are genetically male?

Should someone who was raised as a woman, who looks like a woman, and by all outward appearances is indistinguishable from a woman be instead classified as a man and start living as a man because genetically they are male? What if someone with AIS got gender reassignment to live as a man so that their outsides matched their genetics, what would that make them then?

In Scripture we read that God made male and female, but it doesn't say this just of human beings, but of other creatures. Because most creatures that we observe and interact with are sexual, that is they reproduce sexually. But plenty of animals don't fit the either-or quite so neat and tidy. Snails, for example, are hermaphrodites, and so snail mating is basically a contest to impregnate the other snail before it impregnates them. A number of fish species, and some amphibians, are known to be able to switch sex, and thus the same fish can have both laid eggs one year, and fertilized eggs the next.

So it's not exactly all that strange that "hiccups" happen in human beings, because biology is complicated. That's the biology.

The question at that point is how do we engage with and address that biology. "God made them male and female" sounds like a theologically poignant thing to say on paper, but the world as it really is doesn't look like the world "on paper"--it is an immensely more messy and complicated place. And that's a messy and complicated place that God is involved with, in healing, redeeming, and saving through Jesus Christ. Jesus came into this world, He died for this world, and the Gospel is for this world, with all these messy complicated people. And the Church lives in, and must address this world, the real world. Not an imaginary one.

unlike 'wealth dysphoria,' :tearsofjoy: the APA has determined that gender dysphoria is a real phenomenon. The APA is comprised of folks most of whom have joint MD/PhD degrees, so maybe we ought to listen to them..?

^_^ ^_^ ^_^ Do you really believe the APA isn't above being manipulated by political activism??? Besides, extensive education is not necessarily a guarantee to higher intelligence, trust me. I've dealt with enough MAs and Ph.Ds to know that. ;)

Unclutch thy pearls.

....and cast them before swine. :)

Stand back and just let the left eat itself. They will have a snowflake civil war with this, especially their toxic feminists who are now going to have rationalize their whole women's rights with men invading and taking a way all the hard work various women have put in to compete.

Well said. Really, when you get down to the bottom of it, this is just one more manifestation of the ever-accelerating pace of our societal disintegration. When cultures reach a certain point, they abandon the norms held for centuries, and they begin to embrace abnormalities, usually in the name of equity or tolerance. This process continues, in all aspects of the culture, at a steadily-increasing speed, until the culture either shatters or is made vulnerable enough to a differing culture with stronger self-ideations and is defeated in conflict. (shrug) That's why the Muslims and the Chinese are going to inherit America.

I believe what I think most reasonable folks would believe in these and similar matters—that experts in fields should be deferred to. I mean, who else besides experts would a person look to for this information? That’s not to say that there is infallible information within the DSM. Of course not. It changes over time. For example, earlier versions of the DSM categorized homosexuality as a mental “disorder,” a “perversion” and (later) merely a “disturbance.” Still and all, a combination MD/PhD of the APA is light years beyond your average American in terms of depth and breadth of knowledge of the relevant subjects here (psychology). And again, if you can’t turn to those folks for relevant thinking on gender dysphoria, who might you turn to? Who is a more reliable contemporary source?

There will be a small number of trans women in women's sports. I believe that's fine.

I read your earlier posts in this thread and, in the main, I agree with you. However, on this specific point you’ve made, what is your justification for trans (MTF) athletes directly competing against bio-females?

In athletics today, where strength and speed are directly relevant to the sport in question, post-pubescent males and females do not compete against each other. And the reasons for this are quite clear—the advantages of strength and speed that males have over females are dramatic. Take running, for example. Any male speed records in the 100m, 200m or the mile are not really in the vicinity of the female records. They aren’t close. Or take a strength sport (maybe powerlifting) and it’ll be the same—drastic separation between male and female records held.

How can a society allow MTF trans athletes directly compete against bio-females in sports where strength/speed are directly relevant and call that just or fair? Generally speaking, PED’s are kept out of sports. Why? Because of their obvious ability to enhance speed, strength and endurance in the athlete. They’re opposed because of the unfair advantage they give to the athlete taking the PED. Seems to me that opposing trans-females competing against bio-females is the same reasoning—far too much of a competitive advantage owing to the physiological superiority of male humans over females.

What’s your rationale for thinking this will be ok? I’m genuinely curious. Maybe I haven’t thought it all through or I’m missing something. I just don’t get it. Seems awfully unfair to me, to allow them all to compete against each other.
