... did Democrats engage in the same level as whining over that loss as Trump supporters are engaging in now?

I'm also trying to recall the level of frivolous lawsuits launched over the election results, pressure from the incumbent president to get the results changed, and the storming of any government buildings.

Did that anything like that happen? My memory is a bit fuzzy on the events of the time...

There was quite a bit of whining, not gonna lie. They also tried to convince the electors not to vote in Trump, and of course they also disputed electors from several states during the official count (although only in the house, so there was no suspension of session).

The main difference is that this time, the whining flows down from the top instead of rising from the base.

lol man who are u kidding.... :)

That was a theatrical event meant to both release some anger and try and have fun with it. I hope you don’t think that being very upset about something and protesting the actions of an administration are the same as literally and specifically trying to invalidate or overturn an election’s results.

Well first of all he is trying to equate too many things, and mix too many metaphors.

The opening thing I honed in on, was terms like whining. In this context, whining is a derogatory colloquialism for anyone of the other side complaining about something you disagree with, and from that stand point from what I can see this board and Current Events has been nothing but a long stream of whining (Against Trump) for the last 4 years from what I can tell (I've only been active here 2 years).

There was also some whining before that, when Trump ran in the primaries and then for president.

What you also missed where 8 years of whining about Obama from the conservatives. TAN SUIT! LATTE SALUTE! FOLLOWING COURT PROTOCOL AND BOWING TO THE JAPANESE EMPEROR!

I would say it was mutual both from the top and base simultaneously.
My objection arises from the fact that I can see. 1000s were at Trump rallies and varying from virtually none to 100s at Biden rallies.
And no I do not accept that the majority of Biden supporters were more concerned about corona than the majority of Trump supporters.

Psst: Rally size doesn't elect presidents. Voting does.

I did some bowing when I was in Japan. Americans shouldnt have to do that ANYWHERE. We should just show our passport and wait for people to bow to us!

No matter how rabid a supporter you are, you still only get one vote.

Most of the Biden voters, like me, simply werent thrilled by him. He was just the better option for more people

Another possible explanation is the mail-in voting. People who wouldn't bother getting out voting would when it was simple as dropping it in your mail box. At least that's what my liberal sister tells me.

Whining? Yes, absolutely...no question about it
Denial? A bit
Frivolous election challenges? Not so much in 2016...but they did engage in a bit of that in 2000
Physicality? No... an insurrection attempt and act of sedition in modern times is something unique to the MAGA crowd

I don't think Dems did all that much whining over Hillary losing, but they went over the Top with the Trump/Russia collusion thing. I was all for investigating Russian interference (mainly propaganda attacks) on the election, but I thought that Trump was too clueless to deliberately collude with the Russians. It really increased the partisan atmosphere early in Trump's reign.
