Yeah, it's like a Christian baker not wanting to bake cakes for homosexuals, except gay folks just want to marry and live their lives together; whereas, some folks on Parler want to take over the democratic process, insert their own will, while executing elected leaders. So, they're not the same at all.

Parler users say their goodbyes as site taken down: "FREE SPEECH WILL WIN"

Is this anti-trust? Another instance of a private company having all rights to simply deny service to another? Thoughts?

If you breach CF rules on posting, CF will deny you access to this Forum.

In principle, Amazon denying service to Parler is no different. Amazon says Parler breached it's service agreement by inciting violence. I've never used Parler but from what I've heard it has become fairly radical including implied death threats.

These are some quotes from Amazon's letter to Parler explaining its actions:
Parler app has now been booted by Amazon, Apple and Google - CNN

In a letter obtained by CNN Business that was sent to Parler Chief Policy Officer Amy Peikoff on Saturday, Amazon Web Services said that in recent weeks it has reported 98 examples to Parler of "posts that clearly encourage and incite violence." The letter includes screenshots of several examples.
"We've seen a steady increase in this violent content on your website, all of which violates our terms," AWS wrote. "It's clear that Parler does not have an effective process to comply with the AWS terms of service."
The letter continued: "AWS provides technology and services to customers across the political spectrum, and we continue to respect Parler's right to determine for itself what content it will allow on its site. However, we cannot provide services to a customer that is unable to effectively identify and remove content that encourages or incites violence against others. Because Parler cannot comply with our terms of service and poses a very real risk to public safety, we plan to suspend Parler's account."

No. If you think it is, you might want to read up on how anti-trust works.

Another instance of a private company having all rights to simply deny service to another? Thoughts?

That's not what "anti-trust" means.

Seems rather hypocritical considering they have an entire branch in China. China, as you may know, is guilty of severe human right violations against the Uighurs. Why are they completely fine with doing business with a country that literally has put 1M people into internment camps, yet when a single customer in the US does something they don't like (like permit free speech) they shut them down?

I have no idea, however what Amazon may or may not be doing with China doesn't justify Parler's actions.

CF also doesn't permit 'free speech' yet you seem to be comfortable as a moderator with the responsibility (among other things) for shutting down any 'free speech' which is unacceptable to CF.

The difference is when dealing with an individual versus shutting down the platform millions of people use to communicate. It would be as if a single violation equaled the permaban of anyone we thought agreed with the violator.

Their simplest solution.

Build & Host their own servers so they don't have any TOS That they can violate as it's their own house.

Which is what gab has done...

But that doesn't mean platforms like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google, Apple etc. doesn't hold a monopoly on speech platforms in the U.S. and have now proven they have more power than the president of the United States.

That's something quite frightening in reality, and something that needs to be addressed.

When only one side of the conversation is heard, elections and other democratic processes are in very real danger.

We are against book burnings, and this is no different from a modern day book burning.

These people on the left have near total domination over all speech, all media, centers of education, and over all that's called "truth"... this is Hitler's wet dream come to life.. and it should frighten anyone.

From Amazon's point of view it is dealing with a single customer - Parler. Amazon cannot be held responsible for Parler's failure to moderate its own customers. Parler is responsible for its own customers.

So start your own platform, if you think there is a need for one dedicated to right-wing extremism.

dedicated to right-wing extremism.

Caring about whether or not only American citizens who are eligible to vote, voted, is not "right wing extremism"...

Do you even know whose being removed from Facebook right now? Yesterday morning a 2,600 member private group on Facebook, made up solely of veterans of the Coast Guard who speak among themselves in their little group, was taken down by Facebook...

They aren't right wing extremists who are being silenced... they are normal, average people... they just have more conservative opinions politically.

Remember the saying:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Be careful lest some day, there be no one left to speak for you.

What was the violation to the service agreement?

To me, regardless, since Amazon had a contract, if they breached it, it is simple breach of contract. To me, it is a little like bars that pay a fine to continue to allow patrons to smoke. If Amazon breached contract with Parler, they must reimburse Parler. Nevertheless, Amazon's business is Amazon's business. Government has no business forcing them to give Parler equal access. Parler needs a more reliable source for servers.

Believe it or not, I agree with you. If Parler breached contract, Amazon may do as they wish --it is THEIR business.

Likewise, though, if Amazon is the one that breached contract, they should reimburse Parler and both parties go their own way. Government has no business forcing Amazon to allow anybody use of their servers.

We do need something a little more than the usual inappropriate contentography and leftist insanity. The only ones rebelling are the hackers, scammers and child inappropriate contentographers on the dark web. On the overt side of things we have leftists dominating everything and shutting down conservative voices, and we have even more inappropriate content. It's an evil, perverted world.

...and anyone wanting something different is labelled a right-wing extremist?
