Lord have mercy! Praying for all concerned. Including little Bella. I have a cat named Bella as well.2021 is trying to destroy us already. It will not succeed.
My ex had a break in last night (early this morning around 4am). I got a message from him around 9am, but it didn't tell much, so I went over to check on him. His cat woke him up, and he heard what sounded like voices, soon realizing it was coming from inside the house. He grabbed a big kitchen knife and followed the sound to the living room. There was a man there, with his back to the hallway and my ex (I'll just call him Bill to make this easier). Bill bellowed "Who are you and what are you doing in my house?" as loud as he could. The intruder turned around, but Bill could tell something wasn't right. The man was panting and frantic, and said "They're trying to kill me!" Then he lunged. By the grace of God, Bill dropped the knife and only used his fists to try and knock the intruder out. He managed to punch and kick the man into the bathroom, where he slammed the door shut and called police. By the time the police arrived, the man was rambling incoherently and refused to come out. Bill said it took a good half hour for the police to convince him to come out, and since it was clear he wasn't well, they took him away by ambulance instead of arresting him. Bill declined to press any charges.
I was mostly worried about whether Bill was hurt at all, but he wasn't, thank God. He was more worried about his little cat, Bella (yes, that's her name lol), as she had gotten into the middle of the fray (perhaps trying to protect him? Bless her tiny heart) and gotten badly kicked. I looked her over while I was there, and she seemed perhaps a little bruised and stiff, but otherwise all right. Again, thank God. She is like his baby now; he adopted her after I moved out and he dotes on her.
Please keep the man who broke in, in prayer. I don't know who he was or anything else about him, but he must have been so confused and so afraid. And then he got beaten up pretty badly by Bill I offered to wipe up some leftover blood I found in the bathroom.
It was a strange start to my day. But I'm so thankful that God was protecting everyone involved from any more serious injuries or worse.
