What do you think happened?

Mom of Black man killed by deputy: "My son was murdered in cold blood"

I think the young black man, fearing for his safety if he fell into the hands of the police, thought that if he could make it home he would be safe. The cop followed him from the street demanding that he comply with his orders to stop. Seeing the young man about to enter the house, and safety, made the decision to shoot him rather than allow him to openly thwart his authority. It was cold-blooded murder.

Every time a black man is killed by the police we hear the same uninformed "It was cold-blooded murder." people use it as an excuse to loot and go crazy and not a single person has any idea what the facts of the case are, the investigation as just started. how about a little common sense and get the fact before entering a verdict

I've made that same argument about police use of deadly force (i.e. that they should be required to use a little common sense and determine the facts of the perceived threat before opening fire) and have had multiple people argue in response that that would make officers' job too dangerous.

Does police brutality and senseless murders happen? Yes

Does resisting arrest happen? Yes

Cops sometimes get sworn at and spit on. They have a very difficult job

The media is pumping extra fear into urban communities when it comes to police. And they are also conditioning these communities to hate all cops

I have much sympathy and compassion for all the parties involved. It honestly breaks my heart

Yes, you can love both law enforcement and urban communities

How can you get the facts when most involved are lying? Might as well guess.

How did this guy invite a deadly force action with,

A house key in one hand,
A bag of sandwiches in the other,
and his back to the cop?

Well who ever made that argument was wrong, I do not think that any officer wants to go through all the emotion of shooting someone and the hell of events that follow.

Get the facts before you decide what happened, you are accepting one side of a story based on conflicting facts.

This is another example of systemic racism in the country. Police weren’t meant to be judge jury and executioner. Like, come on people, how many more have to die before you all finally get it?
Lets get the facts before we decide what happened here. How many times are we going to have riots and looting and then months later find out that the police did nothing wrong.

I'm speculating about what happened based on what I read. :D

I doubt if he 'looted' those sandwiches. And even if he did should he have been killed for it?

I am reasonably certain that getting killed had nothing to do with the sandwiches.

There are good officers as there are bad ones. There are good people as well as bad. Should people be shot. I wish it didn't have to happen. But it does. Some of it is valid and some of it is abuse. I can't speak for every situation and certainly not this one without the facts. I am sorry for the family that had to lose their member. I won't say loved. Because I don't know if their family did love them. I hope they were right with the Lord though. And if the officer is in the right in this one. I also pray for him and his family. We life in a fallen upside down world. And it is just getting worse.

No it's pretty well established that he bought subway after he had dentist appointment. He was licensed to conceal carry so we know he hasn't been convicted of anything serious. The cop who shot him was member of swat team who'd just had raid failed to find the suspect when he was driving by.

My best guess they saw him thought he was the guy followed him to his house maybe there was confrontation or maybe they just got a glance there was gun and opened fire. Then made up the story about him flashing gun when he drove past when they realized who he was and that this wasn't going to play well.

Had he kept going till he got out of site then returned with a gun and shot the cop would the headlines have read racist black man shoots cop in cold blood?

Reminds me of closing minutes of deer hunting. Shots are heard all over the woods as hunters shoot their rifles...because they want to shoot their rifles.
