You’re settled at home with your family and involved in a loving church. But your son must leave to live with another family – not for study, but because staying would mean recruitment to a gang.
And then your whole family must leave – not to a bigger house, but because staying could mean being killed.
This is the story of Pastor Alberto Solá in Colombia, on the run from gangs who made his family and church a target because they offered an alternative to drugs and violence: Jesus.
Read Pastor Alberto’s story and how you embraced his family by giving them the support to rebuild their lives and dream again.
PLEASE PRAY:
Christianity is the major religion in the Russian Federation, but there are areas where Christians face significant persecution – particularly in the Caucasus region, where most indigenous people are Muslims.
There, in areas such as Chechnya and Dagestan, those who leave Islam are often persecuted by their families and communities, who consider conversion to Christianity a betrayal of national identity.
Many such believers have fled the Caucasus region for their safety. Those who’ve stayed often keep their faith secret. Believers who are discovered may be put under house arrest to make them return to Islam.
Meanwhile, throughout the Russian Federation, the government continues to favour the Russian Orthodox Church while imposing greater restrictions on other denominations. These are viewed as Western spies.

A prayer for the Russian Federation
Lord Jesus, may believers in the Caucasus region tangibly feel the companionship of the Holy Spirit’s presence with them, particularly during difficult moments. Bring breakthroughs in their prayers for loved ones to come to know You. Where leaders and churches are particularly impacted by greater government restrictions, give them a clear sense of what to do next. Strengthen and grow Your church in the Russia Federation. Amen.
With many thanks for your prayers.

- For the protection of church leaders who speak out against criminality and young people who are often targeted for recruitment to gangs
- For Open Doors partners in Colombia, that God will continue to protect them and work through them to bring love and support to our persecuted brother and sisters.
