God promised if I quit a certain sin he would get rid of a major source of distress in my life. I did exactly as God wanted and quit that particular sin. But God never got rid of the extreme source of distress, even though it’s been 6 days since I’ve stopped the said sin.

I keep asking God many times, over and over, why he didn’t keep his word. Did I do something wrong? Does God want me to do something else? Do I need to repent of a sin that I haven’t repented of? I don’t know, but I need to know. If I don’t get an answer, I’ll go back to committing the sin God wanted me to quit, since the only reason why I’ve stopped is so that God will keep his word and get rid of the source of distress, which I have no control over.

Please pray and ask God to tell me why he didn’t keep his word. Please pray and ask God if there is anything else I need to do so that he will get rid of the extreme source of distress in my life. God's lack of communication is frustrating.

wow there are just so many things wrong with this! You're accusing God of sin ??!! FYI I've had prayers that required patience too. One particular prayer that I prayed desperately for 6 years, then out of the blue he showed me he was going to start moving. And he did and I have never been more amazed in my entire life. God is never just part of the equation, he *is* the equation! Wait on him!

May you receive the wisdom on the matter you need NineO'Spades.

BTW, I spent part of ThanksGiving yesterday here re-reading chapters of Proverbs and it was very illuminating for me and helped me feel closer and more connected to God. Take a pen and open to the end of the book, read Chapter 31 and underline anything you feel is meant for you or you needed to hear.

Then, do Chapter 30, then 29 ect until you get to the beginning (might take a couple of days, I'm not finished yet, but it has been a great experience so far).

I think God had me start at the end and go backwards because He knew I thought I knew everything, in order to show me what He wanted to with love.

There's the source of your problem - a lack of faith in God's goodness and faithfulness. If things don't go as you planned, you need to go deeper in God. He cannot lie and is always faithful, so either you weren't hearing correctly or there's more work to be done. Either way, you need to go in deeper.

This is your problem. He is the Lord, you are not. His word tells us to repent of sin. We cannot negotiate a deal with God whereas we will obey him on the condition that he gives us what we want. Repent of sin.

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I tell you? Luke 6:46 (NRSV)

Then you didn't repent. Repentance is not a barter item. It's loathing something you did, and a determination not to do it again.

So you are going to behave like a 'immature brat' with God, sorry but 'im going back to the sin because he didn't do what he said' and you demand of him things that probably he didn't even said in the first place, God doesn't lie, if he told you he will do something he will.

God does not make those sort of deals, so your problem isn't with God, but with what ever demon you are talking to.
