Trump team wins hearings in Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania legislatures on election concerns

"State Legislatures are uniquely qualified and positioned to hold hearings on election irregularities and fraud before electors are chosen," the press release said. "As established in Article 2, Section 1.2 of the United States Constitution, State Legislatures have the sole authority to select their representatives to the Electoral College, providing a critical safeguard against voter fraud and election manipulation."

"Wins"? What now? Also State Legislatures have the sole authority to determine how the electoral college is selected. And sure, they could throw democracy out the window and legislate they do it and votes don't matter, but that would only hold for the next election, not this one. I also think they might face a wee bit of resistance in the courts, not to mention veto by the Governor.

Also, it's just Michigan and Pennsylvania, not Arizona.
Trump campaign announces public hearing in Arizona, but lawmakers say none is planned

Oh well, you get your news from rags like justthenews, I guess some of it being completely false is the risk.

'Wins' hearings lol. A more accurate title would be Trump legal team provided with further opportunity to create vague sense of something 'bad' happening by reiterating the same old set of random unsubstantiated accusations. Substance will (not) be forthcoming on a Wednesday in some distant future (all claims subject to verification of alternative universes in which said claims did in fact happen).

That hearing in PA? It's just a bunch of random republicans getting together at a Wyndham hotel in Gettysburg. It is not a hearing in any real sense.

Meanwhile, the Trump campaigns legal dream team is embarrassing themselves in federal court.

It was actually a hotel this time? Maybe things are getting serious.

Your link starts with "The hearings will be held "in an effort to provide confidence that all of the legal votes have been counted and the illegal votes have not been counted in the November 3rd election."

Ordinarily everyone would be glad to have "confidence that all of the legal votes have been counted and the illegal votes have not been counted in the November 3rd election" -- but 2020 being what it is -- that has got to make someone a little squeamish, if true.

This is all so sad and pathetic, yet at the same time, enraging.

This sort of thing is not about actually doing anything. If they really thought there was voter fraud, they'd be using law enforcement, they are not; they'd be presenting coherent legal cases to the courts in a timely fashion, they are not. This is solely about sowing distrust of the foundation of our democracy. This should concern you.

It appears that weasels at the state level have quickly backed away from commitments to the Trump campaign.

Probably because the've become aware that the trump campaign's claims of voter fraud are lies.

‘Weasels’ - ? What are you basing that character assassination on?

It's simple really. If you don't bow down to Trump and do anything and everything to support him, regardless of how grounded in reality, legal, etc it is, you are a weasel.

Would you have liked the term 'skunk' better?

In regard to Michigan, reading legislators own statements, it seems clear enough that Giuliani was told there would be hearings. Instead, the legislators backed out of that commitment. Kinda stinky. Know what I mean?

It looks like government officials at the state level are calling bullpuckey on Trump's latest disinformation.

Big win for Trump! So much winning!

This is why I think the Right is going to break apart. One side treats Trump as a demigod that should be accordingly followed and the other side isn’t willing to go to prison over this.

I am starting to get the feeling that Republican Lawmakers don’t keep their word.

As well as the possibility of the people kicking in their doors and dragging them to ye olde guillotine...

Must be terribly disappointing to see the GOP losing its willingness to fall on its sword for Donald.

LOL ... at its peak, the GOP was marginally willing to follow Trump. Many have said there is very little difference between Republicans and Democrats.

You might remember that's largely why Trump was elected to begin with. Republican voters were fed up with the established Republican party.
