I was just thinking about people in general, and how some people are well liked by some and not by others for whatever reason.

...So what qualities does it take to get you to like someone as a person? Is it:

  • high achievers who accomplish many good tasks and deeds?
  • High intelligence
  • Kindness
  • Funnyness
  • Devoutly Christian
  • Goofy
  • Or something else?

@Landon Caeli Though viewing all people as equal sometimes we have prejudice that we get from our anxiety which can cause unsure of how to go about interacting with others because of nervous we can get sometimes.

Some qualities, that I like are :

Vulnerability, Willingness to admit fault, not controlling, goofy, kind, and being real instead of placing a face and hiding behind a mask.

What about yourself?

A person who is truly humble and shows great humbleness and humility, and who fully follows, and/or pursues, and/or chases after, etc, all the rules and laws of Love laid out in the Bible...

And that is not Donald Trump, for he is the exact antithesis of all these things, etc...

God Bless!

Personally, I prefer humble, kind people, who are innocent in judgementalism.

...Honestly, I think we may appreciate similar qualities - I like goofy too, as long as it's in kind.

Sorry about my Donald Trump comment, but I still think it is 100% true right now none-the-less...

But, as to what else I said, etc, it is the kind of people I admire and deeply respect and aspire to be, and be like, etc, but I am by no means fully there yet by any means, etc...

But it is what I aspire to be...

And if the kind of people I truly admire, and want to be like, and aspire to be, etc...

I'm still learning though, etc...

God Bless!

You seem very wise. That's an admirable quality, IMO.

The qualities I find appealing in strangers differs from what I require in personal connections. I'll share both. :)

Character is the first thing I notice. I observe the person's behavior and their interactions with others. I look for truth, give and take, and manners. I don't like rudeness, snark, or demands.

Self-awareness is next. Does the person have a balanced view of themselves and others? Are they willing to admit their mistakes? The absence of personal responsibility is a no go.

If a person displays these qualities I'm willing to interact. That's my general barometer.

For intimate connections, respect is a must. The ability to entertain differences in opinion is paramount. I won't agree with everything you say, do, or feel. If you require that we can't be friends. Decorum falls in this area. There are lines we're unwilling to cross. We don't allow disagreements to turn into wars. Argumentative and combative types will never be in my inner circle. I don't do drama.

A positive mindset is important. Everyone has challenges. But it can't be the focus of our conversations. I don't need a daily rundown of what's amiss. It's depressing.

Contentment is the tipping point. If you're not at peace with yourself and working towards the things you desire to accomplish, you'll have difficulty befriending me. I'm very goal-driven and I don't apologize for the blessings God's bestowed. If you're incapable of celebrating other's success we won't get along. That goes for strangers too. Castigating people who possess the things you lack is unloving. I can't listen to it.

Then there's love. My closest connections have the biggest hearts and they're very transparent. We bare ourselves with one another. If you can't unveil we'll never be close. Walls prohibit intimacy. I go deep and you've gotta join me.

~bella

Hmm... My standards seem very low all of a sudden. :)

But I do appreciate the "positive mindset" part quite a bit. I'm mostly of the optimistic mindset.

That is another discussion maybe...?

Do we sometimes maybe demand maybe too much from each other and one another sometimes maybe, etc...?

And maybe a standard sometimes that we ourselves might not be too perfect in our own selves in sometimes fully living up to too much of the time maybe, etc, or at most, or at some times sometimes maybe, etc...?

Well, I guess it's just some food for thought I guess...?

Or at least is maybe something I am now going to have to think about a little bit more now my own self now maybe, etc...?

Anyway,

God Bless!

I like kindness and truth with love.

Humility is a quality that sadly is not seen that often but I really value

Someone who allows others to be themself rather than a carbon copy of them.

Above all else a Christian faith that is steadfast, willing to forgive without reminding, and loving God above all.

I strive to be the same, not always successfully.

I do however think that it is sometimes fully justifiable to demand or expect just a little bit of a higher standard of people who are supposed to our own leaders though sometimes though, etc...?

I mean, don't make it absolutely impossible for them, but I do think they should sometimes be held to just a little bit of a higher standard sometimes though...?

After all, how else are they then supposed to "lead", etc, or be truly true leaders of all of the rest of us anyways, etc...?

But not make it absolutely impossible for them either, etc... Still allow them to be human and human beings, etc...

But still maybe just hold them to just a slightly slightly higher standard still also, etc...?

Than say, maybe our own, etc, or what standard or standards we would hold somebody to that is not a leader of us or over us would be more normally or more commonly held to, etc...

Anyway,

God Bless!

I don't believe his statement was lacking. :)

My response is a reflection of trial and error. I've pursued this question for many years. I know the answer. I don't have to think about it.

And maybe a standard sometimes that we ourselves might not be too perfect in our own selves in sometimes fully living up to too much of the time maybe, etc, or at most, or at some times sometimes maybe, etc...?

I've had large circles of friends. When you're in close contact with a group of people you see things that may escape your notice when you're 1-on-1. The domino effect is evident. One bad apple can wreak havoc.

When you relate in that manner you have to consider harmony and mutual respect. You can't have anyone running roughshod over others. It creates a toxic environment for all involved.

Our relationships should be edifying. Loving your neighbor requires a different standard. Consideration can't be set aside.

~bella
