Pennsylvania GOP Sen. Toomey Says Trump Should Accept Election Loss

Following yet another legal setback for the Trump campaign, Republican Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania called on President Trump to accept the outcome of the Nov. 3 election and move forward with the transition process in order to protect his presidential legacy.

"President Trump has exhausted all plausible legal options to challenge the result of the presidential race in Pennsylvania," Toomey said in a lengthy statement.

His Saturday night statement came soon after a federal judge dismissed a Trump campaign lawsuit challenging the results in Pennsylvania by alleging that election officials in Democratic-leaning counties allowed voters to fix errors on their mail-in ballots. The Trump campaign has vowed to the appeal the ruling.
GOP Sen. Cramer says it's 'past time' to start transition as challenges continue

President Donald Trump’s confidant former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Sunday that the president should end his legal fights challenging the results of the election and concede to president-elect Joe Biden.

“Listen, I’ve been a supporter of the president, I voted for him twice but elections have consequences and we cannot continue to act as if something happened here that didn’t happen,” Christie explained on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.”

“They allege fraud outside of the courtroom but when they go inside the courtroom they don’t plead fraud and they don’t argue fraud,” Christie said, adding “you have an obligation to present the evidence, the evidence has not been presented.”
Some want the transition to be started for the sake of the country:

GOP Sen. Cramer says it's 'past time' to start transition as challenges continue

Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., called on the administration Sunday to begin cooperating with President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team, even as he repeatedly defended President Donald Trump’s attempts to challenge the results of the presidential election with unproven allegations of widespread fraud.

In an interview on “Meet the Press,” Cramer said he doesn’t think that Trump has exhausted all his legal options, but that it’s in the best interest of the country to begin the transition process.

Pressure grows from GOP for Trump to recognize Biden election win

Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) also requested the process to “move forward” despite Trump’s objection to Biden’s win in his state, saying on CNN’s “Inside Politics” that “the voters have spoken.”

“I mean, here in Michigan, it was 154,000 vote margin by President-elect Biden and no one has come up with any evidence of fraud or abuse,” he said.

“We expect that that process move forward and let the voters, not the politicians, speak,” he added. ......

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) told CNN’s “State of the Union” that he’s “embarrassed that more people” in his party “aren’t speaking up” against Trump’s denial of the election results.

“We were the most respected country with respect to elections,” Hogan said. “And now, we’re beginning to look like we’re a banana republic. It’s time for them to stop the nonsense. It just gets more bizarre every single day.”

The transition needs to start for the safety of America.

I'm not surprised. I think for the most part a vote for Trump by conservatives is just as much a vote against the GOP establishment as it is a vote against the left. Remember, for 8 years under Obama, the likes of Paul Ryan & others on the "right" were throwing their constituents under the bus. Always fighting but never winning, wink-wink.

The transition needs to start for the safety of America.

Americans need to have confidence in their voting system for the safety of America.

It is over as far as the need to start a transition is concerned. .

Trump got transition money within days of the election though the results were not fullly certified until Dec. 19th. He won Michigan by about 12,000 votes, only 2 votes per precinct which was the narrowest win in Michigan ever. Biden has won Michigan by 154,000 votes.

Trump won PA in 2016 by 44,292 votes. Biden is leading now by 81,479.

It is time to allow Biden to transition which includes intelligence reports, and being given the money to hire staff as needed and rent office space.

I always remind my liberal friends that it was blue states flipping red that gave Trump his win in 2016. You could almost say it was the Dems that put him in.
And now he's lost in 2020. So it seems the system is working like it's supposed to: the guy with the most votes won the election.
tulc(and the guy who didn't win seems to be having a hard time that the system didn't work in his favor this time)

Which is not really part of this topic.

I agree Biden should be getting the daily briefing reports, but I don't agree Trump should necessarily stop his court cases until they are exhausted.

Getting a couple no's in court is nothing... even Bush v. Gore went to the Supreme Court. To say Trump shouldn't exhaust his legal options is a bit much. Let him... let all of it be transparent for the good of the people.

That's our best bet. Trying to stop him without court isn't good... Everyone, democrats and republicans alike, were making claims of the field being ripe for fraud prior to this election. The only reason the democrats aren't still talking about potential fraud is because this went in their favor.

I have no doubt the left had every intention of fighting legal challenges if this hadn't gone their way, they promised it. We all knew before this started that this was going to be fought in court no matter who won.

Crying foul on Trump now is silly... with all the calls from our representatives of potential fraud before the election, the American people need the court cases and full transparency now.

Trump will probably try to get to the Supreme Court with this. But so far, he is not successful. In the meantime, Biden needs intelligence briefings.

There was a diffference with Gore vs. Bush as that it involved one state and less than 600 votes as opposed to 3-5 states and a whole lot more votes for Biden. A problem that likely resulted from the Gore vs. Bush issue is that it may have helped our adversaries on 9/11.

People should quit crying about the "transition". It is a way overblown, small potatoes non-point that people use as a thing to get upset about. If Biden ends up being the President, he'll be just fine with the time he has.

It takes time to do a transition. It needs to be now. Even Republicans in congress are figuring that out. There needs to be time for FBI background checks on potential nominees and staff, for instance. That takes time.

And Bush had to deal with 9/11.

Former Bush chief of staff cites 9/11 Commission, warns about slow transition

Card helped guide Bush’s campaign through the 2000 recount, which held back the transition from President Bill Clinton to Bush for 37 days. In a Wednesday evening interview on “The News with Shepard Smith,” Card put the transition time into perspective when it comes to a national crisis.

“The 9/11 Commission had said if there had been a longer transition and there had been cooperation, there might have been a better response, or maybe not even any attack,” the former chief of staff said. “This is very serious, so we’re calling on the president to open up the transition office, give the money out, let people start transitioning, and get ready to take the baton at January 20th at noontime, even if we don’t know the full results.”

https://www.usnews.com/news/nationa...den-transition-mirrors-pre-9-11-vulnerability

The bipartisan 9/11 Commission in 2002 identified the delayed presidential transition at the beginning of the previous year as one of the causes behind what amounted to the most consequential terrorist attack this century. And it specified that outgoing administrations must help prepare their successors to prevent another "catastrophic attack that could occur with little or no notice."

"Might have." Sure. And if that is the case, then Clinton had enough knowledge ahead of time and didn't cooperate with Bush.

...the same Bush transition that had 9/11 happen after he took office?
tulc(is just curious part 2)
If the "transition" is what made the difference, then Clinton had the info that Bush needed and deliberately didn't give it to him.

or it was ignored because there wasn't enough time to analyze all the info because they had too short of a time for transition?

Yes - I agree about the briefings.

I also feel this is unlike Gore because the allegations are widespread fraud. If you get two cases and it makes a difference altogether of a couple thousand votes in an area, then you might have your win.

I'm just saying let it go forward, and see what comes of it.

I'm personally of the mind it's not going anywhere, but I also think it needs to be argued and fully transparent or your going to have far too many people thinking this entire election illegitimate - a recipe for disaster that is.

Let’s see if you’re confused in 2 months when Biden hasn’t filled out his cabinet in a timely manner.

Finally...

Trump administration officially authorizes Biden transition

With the backing of President Donald Trump, the head of the General Services Administration informed President-elect Joe Biden on Monday that the official governmental transition process has been approved.

GSA Administrator Emily Murphy, after weeks of delay, said in a letter to Biden that he is now able to access millions of dollars in federal funds and other resources to begin his transition to power.

Trump in a pair of tweets vowed to continue his legal fight but said, "I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same.”
