Could we attract aliens by this?

Let`s say you wanted to create some sort of a distortion in nature so it`d spread and eventually hopefully, be picked up by some aliens far away, would a big clock where you set the second-hand in a strange position be enough, so eveytime it moves it creates a strange distortion, would they pick it up eventually with some very sensitive and delicate instruments quicker than the normal method of sending messages?

Why would it need to be a clock?

What kind of distortion?
What kind of strange position?
What kind of instruments?
What kind of message methods are the "normal" ones?

Well, I was just thinking, let`s some aliens are walking around on their own home-planet, radiosignals and stuff from us, they wouldn`t notice because it would just be some sort of normal energy in the air, but if you create some sort of a distortion in nature instead, a clock would perhaps do it of you set the second-hand in a little strange position so the energy coming from it would feel strange to others and it would probably be more powerful than a normal signal also I guessed

What's being distorted? Gravity? In that case, the "clock" would need to be unfathomably large.

How about radiowave transmissions, like we've been doing for the last ~100 years?

Only problem is that propagation is limited to the speed of light. With the Milky Way about 53,000 light years across, it's going to take a long to cover a significant amount of volume in our local area.

This isn't even getting into issues of attenuation and detection.

Yes, but the problem with signals is that it has to be picked up by a radio and today we aren`t probably anywhere near to have enough power to reach them by this method, people are more sensitive to nature also and distortions in it, yes agree with your statement, it has to be a very clock to do so

When it all boils down, the OP appears to asking is there some way of attracting attention over say light-year distances, other than by way of radio transmissions?

Laser/light signalling is one way. Another may be for these aliens (or us) to exploit the Sun's gravitational lensing properties. Both have already been suggested .. there are papers on the gravitational lensing hypothesis method and NASA has already conducted spacecraft based laser comms (locally).

It has another benefit also, radiosignals would be picked up by the overheads in the society probably instead of normal people, an distortion would reach these normal ones first, instead of having for example an president announching contact and taking full control and then perhaps we could have an contact for real without people dividing into classes like we do here

If there was anything out there that wanted to be found, we would know by now. If they were intelligent enough to detect us, they'd avoid this planet like the plague.

Well, I kinda see what you`re talking about, but they probably have wars and stuff themselves

Besides God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, angels (the various types) and demons. I believe that is it.

But would you perhaps like that there were aliens though so we`re not all alone in the universe with angels and demons and Jesus and God?
